Who do you think/hope it'll be? Going by the second movie it could be Venom, one of the Goblins (whichever Harry is, I always mix the names up >_<), or Lizard. I hope for Lizard cause Doc Connors is my favorite Spidey villian even though he's not really bad.

I'd love to see Venom, but I have the feeling it's going to involve the Green Goblin again.

Harry goes by the name Green Goblin as well, but he might be called Hobgoblin for the movie. It's less confusing when two main villains don't have the same name, and since they're obviously planning on using Harry, I doubt they'll use the real Hobgoblin. Three Goblin villains is a tad too much.

As for me, I'm hoping for Mysterio. Or the Jackal, but they'll NEVER use him.

Mysterio would be interesting. Who's Jackal? I don't think I remember them.

I don't recognize him, wierd.

I've HEARD that it'll be Chameleon...but I've also heard Sandman. And Venom. And Hobgoblin.

Who do I WANT it to be? Considering the actors cast, I'd prefer Sandman or Hydro-Man. Although, I'd LOVE to see the story arc where Kraven "killed" Spider-Man done as a movie. I think it could work extremely well. And Venom would be great to see, as would Electro.

For sheer campiness I'd love to see Beetle, Plantman, Ringer, Solo, or the Terrible Two (White Rabbit and...I BELIEVE his name was just "The Walrus").

Geez, so many different villians, and I don't know a lot of them, but all of my Spiderman knowledge comes from the '90s cartoon. Venom would be cool, and so would Lizard. They certainly seemed to think it was important to establish Dr. Connors as a character. I also think that they will have Harry as the Green Goblin now. I always got confused with the Green Goblin and the Hobgoblin, so I don't know a thing about that. It seems that there is no way for them to avoid putting more than one villian this time, as I think it's integral that they put Harry in there, but there also needs to be a new as there is already a movie about the original Green Goblin. That would be redundant. We know from the Batman films that this needs to be done very carefully. I am not a filmmaker, though, and I would know nothing about such things. I have, however, noticed that the films take what are the prevalent villians in the comics and puts them in the movies. I am not familiar enough with the comic to know which ones are more prevalent, and I don't remember enough of the cartoon to know, either, except that that version of the Spiderman cartoon featured a lot of the Kingpin. I'm not exactly sure how well he would do as an on-screen villian, but they had enough Batman films to scrape the bottom of the barrel with Raz-al-Ghul and Scarecrow, so anything is possible.

The Legion of Losers are great. Nothing like the guy who wasn't good enough to be the FIRST Kangaroo. Or Grizzly II. I can never remember the names of the other guys. I'd love to see any of these guys in the movie.

The Spot and the Gibbon.

Ah, yes, the Gibbon, who expected people to take him seriously when he was running around in a monkey suit. He even asked Spidey if he could be his partner, and got insulted when Spidey laughed his ass off at him.

Feel free to continue speculating...but the villains have been revealed.

Thomas Haden Church will be playing Sandman. Topher Grace will be playing Venom.

I have to say that I'm EXTREMELY shocked and VERY disappointed by who they have Topher Grace playing.

Why? You don't think he'd be good as Venom?

He's too small. The symbiote never added mass, it just covered the user. Topher would have to take steroids for a year to get to the right size. And...I just can't believe him in such a dark role.

I can, for the sake of irony. I think they're really going to hammer home a "Dark Spiderman" story in this one. Play up what a nice guy Brock is and how similar he is to Peter. Then he problably loses his job, gets humilated with Spiderman, and diagnosed with cancer all at once. That's enough to push anyone over the edge. :p

Besides, the Venom certainly bulked up Brock in the Ultimate universe.

I would wager a bet that the movie starts out with Spidey getting a new costume and fighting Sandman. Then Sandman gets shoved to the side for the Venom plotline. Or at least that's how it should be. I just can't see a battle against Sandman making for a good climax. :p

I hope it plays out like this:

ACT 1 - Small recap of the first two films. Brock is introduced as a swell new friend for Peter. Spidey gets the symbiote costume and encounters Sandman for the first time, and starts to act weird.

ACT 2 - Brock's life starts to majorly suck. He gets cancer, loses everything, and finds a way to pin it on Spiderman. BlackSpidey nearly kills Sandman in a fight before he realizes what's going on and ditches the symbiote, which finds Brock.

ACT 3 - Venom starts to go on a rampage. Cue climactic third act.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens. Seems like a classic movie script.

Unless you're in for a LONG rant...do NOT talk to me about the Ultimate universe.

As for how the movie plays out? I'm thinking Sandman will be connected to Harry in some way (just to keep that plot alive). As for the suit...the LOGICAL thing would be John Jameson appearing again and being involved with the symbiote in some way (there are a million ways in which Peter could logically get to wherever Jameson's landing). Or maybe they make Eddie Brock an astronaut (if they can do that idiotic goblin armor, they can make Brock an astronaut). Honestly, I keep seeing the Spidey films and hoping for a good one. I hate the first, didn't like the second one, and I'm already thinking I'll hate the third (by comparison, I thought I MIGHT like the first, and figured I WOULD like the second). But here I go...on another rant.

Maybe they'll turn John into the Sandman? They could use the alien life form that powered him up and made him somewhat insane in the first Rhino story for that. It's not like they'll use the Man-Wolf in a movie anyway.

No, in the interview, Dunst said that Thomas Haden Church would be Sandman.

And don't count Man-Wolf out. They're going to make a Werewolf by Night movie, so it's not like Man-Wolf can't make an appearance SOMEWHERE.
