As the Sun&Moon releases are starting, I thought it would be nice to have a spoilerfree place where Europeans and other people who don't get the game on the 18th can hang out.

So welcome to the Spoilerfree Hangout Thread! :D

Some ideas for stuff to discuss:
  • What are you most looking forward to in Sun&Moon?
  • Are you going in blind or do you already know everything?
  • Do you have your whole team thought out already or are you making one on the go?
  • Favourite characters so far?
  • Etc.
Have fun!

And please remember that this is a spoilerfree place, so Spoiler Tags on all spoilers, including Pokémon that haven't officially been released yet.

I'm looking forward to Battle Royales the most, I think; they look like an amazing chill Friday night pass time. That, and I think they'll make playing pokemon games as a group more crazy and fun; multi battles somehow feel too serious still, since they're us vs them matches and not an egalitarian, chaotic mess!

I'm also looking forward to using the new pokemon in competitive battling; I have my eyes on two pokemon specifically, although I think they're both datamine leaks LOL

I'm looking forward to a new wifi background FINALLY, although I'm still bummed we don't get to choose our wifi backgrounds :(

Thanks for this.

I know a lot already about the games, like the new Pokemon and their typings/stats. The main thing I don't know much about is the story and the region itself, which I'd like to keep for the 23rd.

I've kinda planned my team out already, though I feel like it might not come together that well when I actually get the game. I'm definitely going to use Rowlet and Drampa though.

I haven't been able to plan out a full team so I'm going to have to wing it.

I'm looking forward to trying out some of the new Pokemon along with some of the new abilities and moves and see what I can do with them.

Also looking forward to the story, been hearing and reading good things about it.

Essentially I don't really mind that we are getting the games a little later - here's hoping that the next games will have worldwide releases, which would mean that our waiting period by that time is a little shorter compared to the rest of the world. ;-)

The only thing I pity is that the forums are relatively a no-go, knowing that we'll probably see open spoiler discussions, so thanks for this thread.

Frankly, I'm really looking forward to character customization. XY was fun because it was new, but this time I feel that we can finally create fully personal characters. On a side note, I'm also looking forward to discovering all the alchemy stuff. I really enjoyed the Pokemon Reset theories Lockstin brought up. Say what you want about the accuracy - I have my scepticism too - but that stuff was fun to watch, gave me goosebumps at times and was the most in depth game theory I have ever seen.

I have my team locked down to three as of this point. Not sure about the rest yet, but I want to be open minded about using any Pokemon really.

Aaaaand that's actually all the stuff I care/know about. Don't know to much about the characters, so yeay for not spoiling myself.

I just bought the game, but I haven't opened it yet - gonna wait till I get home :D

Meanwhile, I've been trying to avoid spoilers after the final trailer. I had to reduce my time on youtube because some people who got the game before the official release date (whether legally or illegally idk) decided it was a great idea to upload spoilers. Fortunately, I've only seen minor screenshots of the shiny forms and nothing else. I don't know anything about the story yet, and I'm excited.

I planned out my team, so I'm ready to begin :3

I already know pretty much all the major things that happen in the game, including the story, the Pokémon, movesets, etc. ^^; Still, haven't seen any playthroughs or read the complete gametext, I still want all the little things you see and do along the way to be a secret.

I for sure am going to have a Lycanroc (midnight), Mudbray, and a Lurantis on my team. Might get a Ribombee and a Salandit too, but not 100% sure yet. Might also keep the Litten I'm going to choose and just not evolve it to the final stage.

In other news: it seems the French are getting it early. Earlier, Amazon France notified their customers that they were getting the games on the 19th and now another retailer has been texting that the games will be delivered today. Not sure if they got permission somehow or are just brave enough to break the street date. If only my country was :(

I'm not one to speculate to much on this, but the ironic thing here is that Europeans are being the ones to break the street date through official means, while the games and it's datamining were leaked by people worldwide way earlier. So who will get the blame next time and have to wait an extra week? That's right, the Europeans.

I'm really looking forward to the story, since from what I heard so far they seem to be improving. I only spoil myself to the new mons so I have no idea about the story except for a little bit of details here and there. Also looking forward to the trials and the new mons. I already planned my team but it may change, though unlikely, depending on the condition.

It'll be awhile before I can get the game delivered to China, but I've spoiled all the new Pokémon and mechanics. I'm going in blind in regards to the story though.

My favorite starter is Decidueye but Primarina is awesome too.

What are you most looking forward to in Sun&Moon?

The story! I hear its better than X and Y's, so I want to see for myself if its true. Also, Pokemon Refresh!

Are you going in blind or do you already know everything?

Some parts blind, some parts spoiled. The story I want to be completely blind in, but stuff such as where to catch certain Pokemon and where the daycare is, I want to know so I can make my team.

Do you have your whole team thought out already or are you making one on the go?

Yep! My Sun team: Primarina, Lycanroc (Midday), Comfey, Steenee, Alola Raichu, and Oricorio (Baile)

Favourite characters so far?

I do think Lillie is cute. Hau is pretty cute, too.

What do you think about that Pokemon Stars rumour?

Rumour: New Version of Pokémon Sun And Moon, Pokémon Stars, Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch

Sounds interesting but kinda annoying if it's true because I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford a Switch in the first year of release.

Apparently it'll have new monsters (Pokemon?) in it too. I wonder if that would mean Sun & Moon would get updated to include them since Stars would presumably still be part of gen 7.

- What are you most looking forward to in Sun&Moon?

At this point, just exploring the new region and getting an actual feel for the physicality (bear with me) of it. Reading text doesn't begin to compare.

- Are you going in blind or do you already know everything?

- Do you have your whole team thought out already or are you making one on the go?

Planned, although I made some last minute changes. My team will now most likely consist of Decidueye, Marowak, Sandslash, Ribombee, Drampa, and Minior.

- Favourite characters so far?

Lillie.

It's been really hard avoiding stuff about the game everywhere tbh... I had to click 'not interested' on like half of my youtube subscriptions, 'cause everyone's already doing playthroughs and I'm in the UK lol.

I'm most looking forward to that feeling of first turning on the game, heart racing with excitement for my breath to be taken away again. Also just getting going through the first few routes, and catching everything I see!
I'm going in completely blind to the story, otherwise I'm aware of all of the Pokémon/beasts, and a few of their stats in regards to what I may want for my team. Alolan Muk is most definitely a must. I will be starting with Rowlet for Sun, and Litten for Moon, but Sun will remain my main game and I'll use Moon for reruns through the game etc. Togedemaru, Rockruff and Wimpod are also for my team, I love those three.

Favourite character so far is probably Kukui, along with Team Skull in general for favourite team from what I've seen so far, from the demo and some of the trailers. I also like Hau and am excited to see how often and consistent he appears for a rival.

I got screwed over by the mail, so now I don't get it until tomorrow.

Four days left. The wait is so frustrating. :( I'll answer the questions just to help pass some time.

  • What are you most looking forward to in Sun&Moon?
The new Pokemon obviously and just exploring the Alola region.
  • Are you going in blind or do you already know everything?
I know everything about the new Pokemon including
the UBs
but I'm mostly blind when it comes to the story (curse you spoilery Youtube videos!) and the unrevealed characters.
  • Do you have your whole team thought out already or are you making one on the go?
I've already planned out my team: Incineroar, Vikavolt, Mismagius, Vaporeon (still kinda tentative), Mudsdale, FairyTales and Kommo-o.
  • Favourite characters so far?
Kukui. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I remember thinking at the start of the year that these 5 days would fly by, but they're dragging on well enough. :p

I bet if I took one look outside this thread I'd see a spoilerly title straight away.

I was going to get Moon, then I found out around a week before the 18th that Gengar loses Levitate. Say what you will and judge me how you like but this is the one decision from GameFreak that I wasn't going to just lie back and take. I'll probably go visit Smogon instead if I need a Gen VII fix.

Doesn't mean that I'm going to drag this down by being a stick in the mud though. Question time!

  • What are you most looking forward to in Sun&Moon?
The Pokémon, definitely. There's a handful that I already love.
  • Are you going in blind or do you already know everything?
I've seen pretty much every trailer and reveal. I prefer to know what I'm getting myself into.
  • Do you have your whole team thought out already or are you making one on the go?
I had a team planned out. Primarina, Drampa, Gengar, Breloom, Metagross, Houndoom.

What I'm currently debating isn't if to pick up Sun or Moon, but WHEN.

Yeah, it released Friday. But next week are Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales, either of which mean I could pick it up at a discount!

That does, of course, warrant a bit of extra caution in my Internet surfing for those extra days....

Do Pokémon games actually go on sale for black Friday? I don't know if I've ever seen it happen, but I suppose it's possible.
I got the game on Friday, but I'm actually planning on swapping games with my sister which means I won't be playing until next Wednesday. So I'm more or less sitting in solidarity with my European friends :D
Honestly I'm looking forward to just about everything at the moment.
The only info that I know is pretty much just what has been officially revealed. I like there being things in the game, both story and Pokémon, that I don't know about yet.
I know I'm picking Rowlet, but beyond that I'm not quite set on a team. I really like Salandit, but I don't know all the Pokémon yet so I'm holding off on making final decisions. I'll just build something as I go. I do like Drampa, though.
