Some of the Pokemon inclusions make absolutely no sense. How are Pikachu, Basculin and Volcarona spooky?

Volcarona and Hydreigon will probably be everywhere. There's very few things that can take hits from Hydreigon well (if at all) and Volcarona has a spread move in Heat Wave which has basically nothing to resist it in this format and also Rage Powder to be annoying.

The list of allowed Pokemon is quite varied in a... random sort of way too (I know they are spooky themed, but there's still some odd choices) so I'm having trouble deciding what I want to use. I might just use some of my favourite that are on the list like Shiftry rather than trying to base it around any sort of particular strategy.

Yeah as soon as I saw the list I figured Hydreigon and Volcarona would probably be everywhere. It's gonna be pretty hard to check both of them.

Well a mouse, piranha, and a moth are pretty scary in my book.

I might actually enter this one, since 3 Pokémon on my main team are also on the list. It shouldn't take long to train up one more battler,and I may or may not already use a Volcarona. I can also see Aegislash being used a lot as well and of course I'm no exception >.>

I agree that some of the inclusions are stupid, God knows why they included Pikachu when there are so many other Pokémon that once could consider 'spooky'.

They justify it by saying that Pikachu can wear costumes. It's a Halloween themed tournament after all.
