Spring Awards 2014 Nominees List and Voting Thread

Hello all!

After a week of solid nominations, we have what is perhaps the fullest list I have seen in these parts for quite some time! Thanks to everyone that took a minute out of their day to submit both their work and other peoples creations, it is great to see such pride in work and such community spirit in nominating your friends and co-workers nominations! A lot of stories and characters were nominated by the improved voting for others system, so hopefully there will be a few thankful surprises when people see they have been tagged! (and look down to see which characters were nominated too)

Now, for the next week, you will all have the opportunity to slim down this list into the few stories that get the honour of moving on to the next round. As always, you are allowed two votes in each category, so you can vote for 18 stories and characters across the nine categories in total – make sure you use those powers well! A story or character that receives two votes will move on, but this can change depending on how many stories go through, so that number could decrease OR increase depending on the category

Any story/character that is in bold has already moved on, so check the list before voting to make sure you are voting wisely if you have a number of favourites in each category. If you change your votes at any time please contact me via VM/PM or mention me in a post so I can update things accordingly.

As a general reminder, you can not vote for yourself, and neither can you ask other people to vote for you (and if someone does ask you to vote for them, please let us know). You can promote the fact you have nominees in your respective thread so your readers are aware and can help you out, but no direct asking and no whinging – we had a spot a few Awards back where a number of contestants got all huffy and moaned and complained about the fact they hadn’t gotten enough votes, and it really dampened down the mood of the Awards. This is meant to be a spot of fun to celebrate our works, so try to enjoy it and be pleased your work is up here instead of getting upset.


Also, this is the time where people can nominate other forum members for the User Voted Categories. These are, as always:

A small announcement:

Due to the number of votes cast and the high number of stories, we will now have to up the number of votes needed for Journey Fics to move on to three. This is because of the way our judging works, it would be very difficult and unreasonable to ask of our judges to have to read four/five stories of a considerable length. Apologises to people that had previously gone through, but there is still a chance you may and there is always next time, but I am sure any past or present judge will be able to tell you of how long a process it can be, especially when judging characters as well, and we have to put the best interests of the Awards and our volunteers first.

If you wish to change any votes due to this please let me know. There is still 50 hours to vote.

Another announcement in similar vain to yesterday; the votes necessary for Expansion works to move on has been increased to three as well, and as such there will be an extra two hours for voting so people can judge accordingly. Voting will now close in exactly 24 hours.

And just a reminder, you are not VOTING for the user nominated ones, you are just nominating them and you only need to be nominated once; I have just noticed some people have been nominating the same people that have already gone through, so maybe double check the first post and other peoples posts before casting yours.

And @GastlyGibus, I went and double checked how things happened for the last Awards and I have made an error; the period for User Voting started on October 16th, which means that any Best Newcomers for the previous Awards would have had to have posted before then. Therefore, I should be allowing anyone who posted afterwards. My apologies, and you are allowed.
