I've been wondering, is it possible to merge columns of sprites when they're the same for all the games in the generation?
This is mostly seen in Gen IV, as all the sprites from #252 to #493 are all the same for each of the games. So my idea is to merge all 3 sprites to one box and center the single sprite. Can something like this be automated, or is it just too much work?

Would turn into this:
after.png
 
I believe there are plans to revamp the sprite template for Gen V anyway... but don't quote me on that.
 
I think I've seen TTE mention that too, just thought I'd bring this up just incase.
