Sprites seem pretty popular lately...

...so, I figured, eh, it's been a while since I've tried my hand at pixel art and I've always loved the medium, so why not give it another try?

Which resulted in the following:

In case you're not already familiar with them, these are my original Pokémon Pixtal, Pixtalline, and Garlion. I spontaneously redesigned Pixtalline a bit (changed the wings so they're much smaller, and got rid of the patterns on the 'dress'), but she's always undergoing changes so that's not surprising. And yes, I did add in footprints and menu sprites for kicks.

...the sad thing is, I think these look better than my hand-drawings...

Amazing, especially how you included the menu sprites, and footprints. The detail is also very good, they look like official art. ^^ what types are they?

It's funny. The menu sprites and footprints were the easy part. I wonder why you don't see many people who do them?

Pixtal and Pixtalline are both Ice/Flying. Garlion is Rock/Dark.

Those are really good, considering the fact that they don't look like the were made from any previous sprites. I wish I had artistic talent. *cries*

Two more!

These are Octspin and Octsting. Originally these were just Poison types, but when G/S came around...well, I felt Steel was appropriate, too, so I modified accordingly. I've made sprites of these guys in the past...they're fun to do! I have no idea why.

Octsting's menu sprite isn't quite done yet, but...eh.

Yes, that's Octsting. He really did turn out well, huh?

Last one for a while. This was my attempt at a trainer sprite...which is surprisingly harder than the Pokémon sprites, I think.

Isn't she so cute. Hee.

You are very, very talented. I know quite a few amateur game developers who would love to be able to draw like that. :)

The trainer sprite is very nice. I like the tiny glasses (I think she has glasses, LOL).

Actually, I want to become a game designer/developer myself, and part of me even has the crazy dream of joining the Pokémon team...but I suppose that'd have to wait until I've finished high school and college and such...

Yes, actually, she does have tiny glasses! I'm glad to know they're noticable. Part of me was worried afterwards that I made them too thin and people'd be like "What's that line across her face?" I might still redo them, though, just 'cause I'm paranoid.

Well it's nice that the sprite has the tiny accessory to make it more unique.

Heh, I had the feeling you might be someone like that. Ironically, these forums are what got me into game design. XD A few years ago, they had a game programming forum here. There, someone named The Burkey (if I spelled that right) helped me get started with The Games Factory. Unfortunately, for an unknown reason, they removed the forum... I guess someone got tired of the occasional n00b coming in, asking for a "how to make a yu-gi-oh MMORPG" tutorial...

If you want to start developing games, and have no programming experience, I suggest that you go to www.clickteam.com and download a demo of Multimedia Fusion 1.5 or The Games Factory. The Games Factory is slightly easier to use, but is much more limited in terms of functionality. I am by no means a pro with MMF, but I might be able to help with the simple questions.

Oh man, I want to play with those. Unfortunately I am ohsoverypoor...

How limited is the demo?

Octsting is pretty damn cool.....

*sigh* Still wish someone could make sprites of my created Poke'mon.

(no way in heck I can do it myself; spriting is not my thing)

Oh, and Garlion is truly a fantastic and highly usable Poke'mon.

(by usuable, I mean it is quite worthy of becoming a real one)

The MMF and TGF demos are both 30 day trials, and you can't compile your projects. It should be enough time to realise whether or not you like the program, and if you do, buying it isn't expensive, compared to other programming/graphics tools, or you could always try to obtain it through other means (I didn't say anything) ... MMF Standard is $99, TGF is cheaper... but I wouldn't recomend buying it.

Man, been a while since I posted some sprites.

Perhaps you've seen this thing before? That might've-been-Eneko-but-wasn't-for-some-reason baby Meowth? Yeah. I sprited it. Just 'cause.

Normally I avoid sprite mods at all cost - why recolor or edit when you can build one yourself from scratch? But...I don't know. The FR/LG female Rocket was begging to be turned into Domino. So, I figured, why not. Look carefully and you'll see she's got a black tulip in one hand and a Pokéball in the other.

No idea. Just seemed easier to leave it in her hand than erase it and redraw the hand so it's not grasping nothing.

Maybe she just stole it?

Very awesome work, as always, Pie.....

Btw, I could sure use a new sprite of my Poke'mon Trainer, Shinsei Hinoma.

And maybe even my Elven warrior/Thunder Dragon Oracle, Nagisa Davarin...

*crappy sprites of both of those characters included below*

I like the second one, Shinsei. Except her arm looks a bit messed up.

A Roselia? I've always imagined Domino with a roselia since it kinda fits the character..... if she had Pokemon at all.
