Any fans for this movie?

I love me some good sci-fi space action/drama and from the some of previews, this prequel of Star Trek delivers.

Preview #1
Preview #2
Super Bowl Preview

It's seemingly more cut throat compared to the older series, but I can't fairly tell if that's good or not since I didn't really follow it back then.

From the previews alone, the sequences look real smooth, so I'm sold either way.

My parents grew up with Star Trek, and they both love the trailers for the film. I do, too. Really looking forward to it, especially seeing Nimoy return and interact with Quinto.

I'm...vaguely interested in the new movie. Was never a big Star Trek fan (I liked Generations, though). But I'm debating seeing this at some point (maybe wait for the DVD). Though...what's with kid Kirk jumping out of a speeding car?

I'm going to see it, I have seen practically every star trek episode and movie, minus much of the original series. But I wonder how it will look with younger people than you usually see in Star Trek?

Despite being a huge Star Trek fan, I'm iffy about it. :/ I have nothing against these new actors but, eh, I've always been loyal to my favorites. Without Shatner, I just don't know.

Will probably wind up watching it later on, though.

EDIT:

Never mind. :/ After further researching it, I'll definitely be seeing it.

I haven't been a big Star Trek fan in a long time. Mainly becasue I got tried of all the medicore spin-offs and even next Generation wasn't that good towards the end.

But I still always went to go see the new movies even though there hasn't been a good movie in awhile. Seeing this trailer. . . I don't think that's going to change. This will likely end up being bad too.

It seems like they want to make Star Trek into Star Wars. Both are great franchises for different reasons, but Star Trek is definitely NOT Star Wars and making it that way doesn't help, but continue to hurt the Star Trek franchise into further medicore hell.

Then again, I'm in the minority that thinks that anything that J.J. Abrams touchs turns into crap.

I also am hesitant to see this. This doesn't look like Star Trek to me. It looks like someone's big budget excuse for it. While I will concur this franchise needs the old fashioned action back, but this is going too far. That's what made the original so good, equal amounts of intelligence and action. With maybe some humor to the mix.

Considering Abrams is at the helm, we should have plenty of intelligence. Trailers never do the cerebral aspects of a movie justice so showing the action is the best way to go. I also like that they've updated the look of the Kirk era. I'm seeing this on opening night for sure.

I love Star Trek but I think that this movie is going to be awful. I'm glad that I'm not the only one. I feel like people are way too eager to see something new from the franchise that they don't care what it is. I think this movie is going to be an insult to the true fans, and it seems to ignore tons of established canon just to desperately try to appeal to a new/young/fresh/hip/whatever audience.
