Dr. Seira Maen brushed her long, black hair out of her face, humming quietly to herself as she sat at her desk, working late into the night by lamp-light reviewing Dr. Troane's recent work, which he had so helpfully passed along to her only minutes before closing. She found Troane's work fascinating - his creative and unorthodox theories always made for a pleasurable read, however impractical they might be.

Under commission from Kosmirtan Prime Minister Arkalex, much of the laboratory's resources had been diverted to research of the probability, and possibility, of life outside the Skarulae system. Some of Aridae's greatest minds had already completed a rough model of a shuttle capable of breaking the light-barrier, for what purpose would they set out for other Systems before they knew what they were looking for?

Seira frowned, twirling her ink-pen idly between her fingers as she read Dr. Troane's figures; Were these numbers actually sound?

To her utter surprise, she saw little need for adjustment in Troane's latest theories - it might actually be possible to transmit radio signals lightyears away in mere seconds.

She would have to look into this further - tomorrow.

Planet: Arcana

Mother Arcana was no longer required to sit in her birthing chamber, as the current state of the planet left no need to breed more Queens. She now tended to the colony as a whole, she strode the hive, the common Necros parting ways for her majesty. As she neared the edge of the colony (accompanied of course by her 4 praetorian guards), she crossed into the Arcadian refugee camp. Arcanians greeted her as she passed, bowing to her. As the relations were no longer hostile after cycles of mutualism. She soon reached her destination, the science lab which the Arcadians used to develop tech for the ruling class of Necroraptors. During the Aforementioned cycles, the humanoid Arcadians had let their native language die and now spoke in the hisses and grunts of Necros. The queen spoke the the head engineer, I wish for you to implement my hivemind into the starship technology, so that we are not reliant on your.....delicate...race for pilots, should things ever become hostile on our planned escapades. The engineer replied: "Yes my queen, I require only a test specimen" I assumed as much... She beckoned for her praetorians to come forward, with them they carried a body...a freshly dead Necroraptor. "Then it shall be done" He quickly bowed and backed away to get to his work. I should hope it will be done soon... "Of course" He said over his shoulder as he began to cut into the domed head of the Necro. Mother then left, to go address more important issues.

Vora Impala entered the laboratory of the super conductor, his long, zebra stripped legs covered only by a pair of shorts. He had a small computer in his hands that was being used as a video conferencing tool.

"Vora, I expect you have the superconductor ready?" the man on the other end of the video feed asked, though it seemed to be more a command than a request.

"Of course, President Yodonn," Vora nodded his head. He tilted the camera to show the giant superconductor beneath the platform Vora stood on. "It's magnificent, isn't it? 320 miles of what may be the most important scientific discovery in the 3rd era," Vora said.

President Yodonn smiled in satisfaction. "Very well, I will be arriving in 20 minutes," Yodonn said. The video screen on the computer went black.

Now that the president was no longer listening, Vora put on a very serious face and shouted to the workers. "Let's get this thing working! We have 20 minutes until President Yodonn arrives!" Vora yelled, causing the workers to go into an instant frenzy.

Exactly twenty minutes later, President Yodonn entered the building. He wore extravagant make-up that showed his class and wealth, as well as the finest clothing in all the Northern Lands. He inspected the superconductor and smiled again, even happier to see it in real life.

Vora noticed the President and instantly knelt on one knee out of respect. "President Yodonn, the superconductor is ready," Vora said, his face still to the floor.

Yodonn gestured for Vora to stand up again. "Before we conduct the experiment, tell me how this works. I've invested far too much money into this to not know the basics of it," Yodonn said.

"Of course. We begin by separating individual waves in the impenetrable safe room, such as gamma rays and radio waves, among others. Once we get each individual wave in its own lane of the superconductor, we speed them around the loop until they themselves begin to warp. Once they have reached critical speed, we smash them all together, creating an influx in energy beyond what we have on Ru-Iso. Before this energy dissipates, we will contain it and harness it so that a message is sent all throughout the universe, saying that there is another life form," Vora explained. Of course, Vora explained it in far simpler terms than they really were, but it was only to not bore the President.

"I have faith in you. Prove me right," President Yodonn smiled as he stepped back from the platform. "Initiate the superconductor," Yodonn ordered to Vora.

Vora repeated the same order, though through a microphone, so everybody heard what he said. Moments later, the superconductor was bustling with activity. A man gave Vora a nod of his head to alert him. "Superconductor starting in 5....4.....3.....2.....1...." Vora said through the microphone.

The superconductor, as well as the whole building, began shaking violently. The tubes in the conductor had flashes of energy zoom through them. Vora grinned as the tubes met together. An ear-splitting explosion burst through the lab as an aurora radiated from the energy chamber.

"It worked!" Vora shouted in victory. "Now quick, we must harness this energy before it vanishes," Vora shouted through the microphone. Using a series of buttons, Vora typed in a message and virtually sent it into the energy chamber. Vora then quickly checked a machine and put on an even bigger grin. "President Yodonn, we have obtained success. Our message to be sent out through the universe is waiting for your command," Vora said, the smile still on his face.

"Let us keep it for now. We must make an announcement to all of Ru-Iso about this. You will be remembered for all eras to come for your great achievement," President Yodonn said. "Now, I must go. You have done well, Vora. You have done well," President Yodonn said as he left the laboratory.

"What have you found, Zolaniir?" one of the head scientist's assistants asked. Turning her head, she looked across each of them; studying their faces. She wouldn't even pretend like she knew their names; what with having to work with over 100 assistants a week. She amused herself with the human terminology. Apparently, when their great star darkened their planet; it triggered some sort of trigger. They went into a period of decreased neural activity; completely leaving themselves to any type of physical rupture with little resistance.

How carele-

"Zolaniir!" the young assistant called once again.

Her blood began to boil, Zolaniir turning her head to the insolent youngster. "I've found nothing, gorbek!" she snarled out the last word, relishing in smoldering victory as gasp escaped the young one's lips. Who cared? How dare he interrupt her musing?! The gorbek had no idea whom he was talking to!

"Z-Zolaniir! That tongue!" he was trying to chastise her? Her of the black-haired lineage was being chastised by someone of brown?

Turning her head, she went back to her work. "Keep quiet, zu'dein," she growled, looking at the screen she was working on. She heard a low growl, a muttering of words, and then various sounds of computation.

Good. Science was always needed.

Looking at the machine next to her, she clicked a button on her computer. The machine began to glow a luminous orange; letting off a loud whirring noise.

Soon, the PSIC prototype would be done. All she needed was time.

Planet: In'idura
Year: 1492 DIII (9461 Z-Count)
Location: Zydict City, Eastern Continent (Capital)

Nimos Madurna, Governor of Zydict City and Chairman of the Superior Council, stood at the bridge of the newly completed Sidurian Joint Interstellar Command headquarters. With the recent breakthroughs in the Paradigm Shift Inducer, and so the perfection of a feasible--if still unsafe--method of FTL travel, the Supreme Authority had abolished the various agencies dedicated to the different aspects of space research, and united them under the SJIC.

For nearly half a millennium, Sidurian society had been dedicated to maximizing efficiency and reducing waste, while minimizing environmental damage, all to preserve the fragile remnants of the devastated biosphere. The possibility of reducing the strain on the planet's resources, by seeking new worlds among the stars, though controversial, had thus become the number one priority for the Authority.

Nimos would freely admit that he himself had no head for science; ultimately, he was here as a token observer, to ensure the SJIC were not wasting what scarce resources they had available to begin with. The true power on the bridge was the striking half-Mala'idurian woman standing beside him: Malla Sidonis, the most preeminent mind in the field of space flight, exploration, and engineering on all four continents of In'idura, and recently appointed director of the SJIC.

The story of her meteoric rise to fame was known throughout the world--especially because of her scandalous origins. Her father had been a respected Zydurian scientist, and indeed had been Malla's counterpart in the old Space Research Administratum. Yet more (in)famously, her mother had been of the Mala'iduria--a striking, passionate woman, renowned for her tactical brilliance. Marriages between the 'high' castes--the Ma'zyduria and the Zyduria--and the 'lower' castes were practically unheard of; viable offspring from such couplings were even rarer. Malla's story would have been unthinkable to the founders of the modern caste system, fifteen hundred years ago.

Thus, all In'iduria's eyes were focused on the SJIC, either for its mission, or for the fame of its director. Every operation, every mission, every new discovery was recorded, dissected, and discussed the world over.

Today's operation was even more notable by such standards. The Siduria's first vessel was making its maiden interplanetary flight. The command stations beneath Nimos were hives of activity, as Zydurian scientists tapped away at keyboards and Mala'iduria advisers coordinated with the pilots aboard the Doma'siduria Primacy. Before them all, a massive screen displayed the flight path set by the director, and the vessel's progress along it, a blinking yellow dot indicating its estimated location. And the air hummed with latent tension, anxiety, and excitement, as stress pheromones wafted from the skin of every Sidurian in the room.

Save one. Nimos scratched at a bead of sweat rolling down his forehead, as he turned to Malla. The director stood relaxed but alert, dark hair carefully tied back from her eyes--perfectly at ease in the midst of the cloud of tangible anxiety. Awkwardly, he asked, "It is normal for communications to be so... garbled, director?"

Malla nodded, bright grey eyes still focused on the command screen. "Correct, Chairman Madurna. Hadanura is millions of miles away from In'idura. The Primacy is making periodic micro-warps with its Inducer engines, cutting the trip down to a few hours rather than the weeks it would take via real space. Still, our communications are all EM-based; light can travel only so fast, after all." She raised an arm, gesturing at a red dotted line on the screen. "The Primacy will cross the communications threshold soon--within the next two jumps or so, in fact. After that, any communications with the crew will be so delayed by the distance that any important warnings become meaningless."

Nimos bent forward, leaning on the railing at the edge of the bridge and clenching the cross bar tightly. "And then it is left in the embrace of the heavens."

Malla cocked her head, before nodding tentatively. "And in the hands of the pilots. These are the best of the best, Chairman. We must put our faith in their abilities, or lose all hope for our future." She reached down to the the data tablet slung at her hip. "There's nothing more we can do here, Chairman." Tapping the touchscreen, she brought up her messenger and the day's schedule. "We have a few more projects that still need the Council's approval--all of them are necessary for the SJIC's future success." She smiled slightly. "Indeed, we are working on improving Paradigm tech to address the very issue you noted. Now please, follow me Chairman."

Planet- Phantasma
Location- Scifest Research Facility

There were mabye five Grobbmans in a large enough building- which was surprising, considering the low rate of physical contact with others of their species. Proffeser Slen Dramon was silently adding gears to the Mass Shifter, while the other four were attending to the Spero. {Proffeser, the Spero is ready. Do you suppose that there are other planets nearby which may be able to sustain our kind of life?} One of them thought asked. The older Grobbman looked slowly up. {Who wouldn't? Our star is on the verge of dying- the air rates are slowly decreasing- it would take a miracle of evolution for anything to survive on this planet anymore.}

Finally, the box shaped machine was finished. {Take the Mass Shifter, and fit it in the Engine, Nanene.} The Proffeser nodded, slowly raising his arm. The female Grobbman he was speaking too- more slender than the males, longer arms, and taller- quitley opened the lid and fitted it in.

{Tomorrow, we will go to the stars- now a recap for all.
There are two known planets nearby- one far to the south, and one to the East. It is unknown if either may sustain or kind of life, or even if there are any on it currently. However, the one to the South presents little obstacles- and to the East there is a Nebula, which could cause problems for the mass shifter. Therefore, we will head South tomorrow.}

"SIR!"
The Monarch of the Bariche looked up, as he sat reading quietly from a datalog.
What.
He said apathetically.
"The exploration program was a success! The scout ship was able to reach the ruins of Alge in minutes!"
The Monarch watched the scientist.
Good. Carry on.
He leant back onto his throne, and flicked the page of the datalog.
The scientist stared at the Monarch, before bowing slightly and leaving the room.

Later, the Monarch watched the skies.
The ancient logs of the ruins told of other worlds... Now, let us see them.

One Phantasman day later

The five Grobbmans returned to the lab, having spent the night standing alone, gazing for hours at the ever-dark sky.
Slen Dramon stood at the ship's console beside the pilot, Caruxial Cio. {Cio, we must first test the actual ability to use the Mass Shifter. Take us to the other side of the labratory.} {Yes, sir.} the shorter Grobbmans nodded, slowly lifting his arm and dropping it limply on the console. The professer left the ship, and watched hopefully. The ship spluttered, and grey smoke poured from the side vents. It then flashed blue, and reaperared at the other side of the room. It touched down, and the smoke ceased. Caruxial stepped slowly out of the ship, breathing heavily. The experiment had been sucsessful- except for one thing. Half of the skin of Caruxial's face was gone, leaving a bony skull on one side, and the other face a despreatly pleading one. {There... there was a mishap.} Dramon sighed through his cross mouth, and motioned for a nearby medic to take him away. {Give him a face plate.} He thought-spoke, before turning to the others. {This hopefully means we will be able to travel to a new system to live. Unfortunatley, there may well be more nessacary things lost in future- hearts, lungs, brains- but all this means is that we will need at least two medics on board. We must depart as quickly as possible- our star will last, at most- one more year. Our galaxy will go black. And we will all perish.} And with some effort, he made his way onto a stool. {We must not allow this. We must find a new home- and by the name of Science, we will find one, whatever the cost.}

Prime Minister Arkalex rose quickly to warmly greet Doctors Troane and Maen as they entered the conference room, a look of anticipation glinting in his emerald-green eyes.

"Dr. Keitz Troane," he began shaking the man's hand warmly, "it is good to see you again. And Miss Maen? How have you been?"

"Excellent," Dr. Seira Maen replied, brushing her black hair behind her ear with one hand as she shook the Prime Minister's hand with the other. "This is an exciting day, isn't it?"

"Yes," Arkalex replied, gesturing to the two scientists to take seats beside his before turning to several technicians across the room who were still setting up the connections to the new transmitter. "Are we ready to begin?"

Moments later, the head technician, a young woman in a white labcoat with thick, black-rimmed spectacles stepped forward, an excited - if nervous, smile on her face, "Yes, Prime Minister."

"Excellent, thank you Artexa," Arkalex replied, gesturing to the technician to take a seat beside Dr. Maen. "Dr. Troane, you have selected the coordinates to which we will send our first attempted transmission?" he inquired.

"Yes, Prime Minister," Dr. Troane replied, looking more nervous by the moment, "A few months ago, our scientists discovered a distant solar system of six planets orbiting not one but two stars," he began, clearing his throat - his own technology was about to be put to the test, in front of the Prime Minister and some of his closest colleagues... it had to work.

Noticing Dr. Troane's nerves, Dr. Maen mercifully finished for him, "One of the six planets appears to be in the habitable zone, and may contain small amounts of water. We felt this would be the ideal place to send our first, test transmission."

"Excellent," Arkalex answered, taking a seat beside the scientists as he turned to face the large monitor opposite them, clearing his throat loudly before signaling to the technicians to initiate the transmission.

"Greetings, distant kinsman," he began, a resolute, though still somewhat welcoming expression on his face, "We are the Ardon, hailing from the planet Aridae in the Skarulae system. We seek peaceful commune with other intelligent life in the Universe. Respond to us if you are able."

"Well, that ought to do for now," he finished, signaling to the technicians to stop the transmission and begin scouring the airwaves for any intelligible reply.

If nothing else, this initial test would allow the scientists to further refine the new communication technology.

The ruler sighed as his head of science approached.
He was planting a large flower in the gardens of his palace.
He stood up slowly.
Yes, Balkese?
"We're getting the first visual transmissions from the scout ship!"
Good. Good. Anything else?
"...Do we have permission to begin exploring the rest of our system."
...There are only four planets, two of which are already near-fully explored. Go wild.

Temkif
Year 23 L.O.
Country: Royal Island
Location: Palace Ground, Royal Island

“You have got Queen Otlus’ feast laid out right?” asked a female Lodanan who walked on top of the shallow water on the edge of the Island, no larger than Nauru Island on the Planet Earth.

“Yes, the others inside have prepared for the Queen’s arrival after her trip to Nezdan” answered back another female Lodanan. Both Lodans were covered in their signature gold liquid, their legs and arms extremely covered in it. They had what seemed sharp pointy objects on their hands, and would be guessed as guards.

“Good, the Queen requires her food to be set out as she arrives so she is able to eat then rest quickly” said the first Lodanan, walking closer to the shore. The Island’s main feature was the huge castle that included a water canal inside that had on overhead wooden bridge and connected it with the ocean that the guards were walking on. Made of stone and grand, it was fit for the Queen of Temkif. The rest of the Island had other equally built buildings that were focal points for Lodan government, diplomat and royal assigned spaces. The middle of the Island contained the Royal Gardens which included many different flora, including the Yubla Flower, grown only on this Island situated near the Eqautor.

“We should stand on the canal with the others. Her Highness will arrive surface shortly in the boat and take the small canal into the Palace” she explained as they both ran on top of the water, their stiletto protruding from their heel causing little ripples on the water.

Lan'Rise
Year 3212 A.C.W
Transport Hangar

Clorin was a tall Lan'iard of around 27 with long wavy green colored hair and a pair of golden colored eyes that made him radiate towards others he was one of the youngest Lan'iards to have become part of the scientific team that year and was even enrolled into the science divisions new top secret project.

"Wow you're hard at work already," Clorin turned around to look at a female Lan'iard that was running towards him. She had short blue hair that fell over her ears with a pair of matching blue colored eyes and a tanned colored skin. "And you worked late last night too," she shook her head at him while she finished putting on a long sleeved white jacket similar to Clorin's which in itself was the uniform given to those that were part of the science division.

"Well if you want to make advancements then you have to work hard I guess," Clorin nodded his head sagely as he saw the door to the docking bay opening, causing all the Lan'iards that were waiting to start making their way towards the transport ship. "I just hope they accept my pitch for a bridge that can connect us to Crisfais," he gave a slight frown.

"Oh come on no one wants to walk on a bridge," she scoffed while the two made their way into the ship.

"My idea is to adapt a small panel that can transport passengers," Clorin stated bluntly with his arms wide open; he seemed to be really determined over his idea. "It'll be cheaper and we wouldn't have to wait so much."

"Cheaper doesn't mean better. I'd like to remind you that it's all that money people spend that allows us to do the research we need to do...so no money equals no bridge," she poked at his nose, making him grimace. "Plus you'll have to wait longer, how many people can your panel hold? how many panels can there be in one? and if you really have to make more than one bridge then that'll just mean all the more money you have to spend in maintenance."

Clorin gave her comments a lot of thought, while he was still sure that his idea wasn't so far-fetched she did have a point, plus it was easier for people to sit down and relax rather than to just stand around and see what they can do while they wait. He gave a long sigh before replaying. "Damn it Arnine you just can't let me win," he smirked.

"We're scientist we're not supposed to let others win," Arnine winked before sticking her tongue out at him.

Crisfais
Technology and Research Center (North based tower)

To'rin mumbled something inaudible as he looked at all the Lan'iard scientists that ran around him. He really hated rush hour even if it was so early you couldn't even call it rush hour, more like just the time where everyone get so eager or agitated about finishing what they were doing that they become crazy. His passed his hand over his spiky red hair before leaning on his chair a lunch box on his lap. "Hard at work or hardly working...or not working a lot," To'rin opened his eyes slowly and came into view with another male Lan'iard. He had pale skin and a silvery colored hair that fell down on his shoulders. "You seem stressed out buddy...here," he handed To'rin and red colored button that stretched out in a spiral fashion.

"There's just been a lot of fuss over all the projects we've been handed lately, the Striker Armor we've been researching and creating for three years is finally starting to come into light but we've just encountered a problem with its powering capabilities and the suit itself might explode if we don't fix it," To'rin shook his head before sipping from the bottle. "And as you know they already threatened to arrest me if I had the test subject explode again."

"Well that last one wasn't pretty," the silver haired Lan'iard deadpanned.

"Scientists look for answers, nowhere does it say we care for others lives," he nodded his head sagely before throwing himself forward. "But the Crystalized Portal is the thing that's been getting my attention lately. If we're able to complete it we might finally contact a new system and we all know what that means...."

"Our work will get doubled."

"Yes my dear Klarien. If we make contact then it'll be just like when we found other planets except that we'll have to deal with new species this could be chaotic or great but what matters is that we have to be the first ones to get there first," To'rin threw the bottle aside, causing Klarien to jump and try and catch it. "I heard the South Tower is using their own theory but I'm not going to let them beat us they didn't name me the best scientist in Lan'rise for nothing."

"Well you're the only one that is willing to make a building explode to prove a point," Klarien deadpanned.

"Semantics."

"Um...sirs..." the two Lan'iard turned around to come into view with a female Lan'iard that was standing a few meters behind them. She had brown colored hair that was put into bangs and was wearing a pair of glasses and the female version of the science division's uniform, except hers was a miniskirt. "I'm sorry for troubling you but they're calling you to the testing room."

"Oh Laurian thanks so much," Klarien beamed at her, causing her to blush deeply before looking away with a grin. To'rin looked at the two of them before grimacin. He made his way to Laurian and grabbed the sheets she was holding; making her jump.

"Oh these are the sheets I was looking for...thanks next time you should focus on your work more though," Klarien replied bitterly before he started walking.

"Don't worry about him. He can be a real jerk sometimes," Klarien patted Laurian on the back; making her blush come back before she nodded.

"Sorry about that si..."

"No. I should be the one apologizing for him Laurian...see ya," Klarien grinned slyly at her before waving. Once he caught up with To'rin he obtained what could only be called as a look of annoyance combined with one of coldness.

"I don't know what women see in you yes you're handsome and all that but they shouldn't interrupt your work."

"There are more pleasures than that of science my foolish friend," Klarien laughed as he pocketed his hands inside of his pockets.

"Yeah but if you worked in your research half as much as you do in women you might actually be a better scientist than me," To'rin smirked.

"Trust me that is a privilege I do not want." this caused To'rin to turn and glare at him, which in turn made a small grin cross Klarien's face. "It's the truth."

***

Klarien and To'rin made it into the testing room before they were met by a barrage of Lan'iard scientists that all ran over to them, handing them sheets or telling them about advancements in current projects they were holding. "Space people!" To'rin screamed, successfully scaring the other scientists away and allowing them to give him and Klarien some room to pass by.

"You're kind of cheerful today," Klarien smirked.

"Shut up." To'rin grumbled before he took out a silver colored card and walked with Klarien towards an elevator. "None of those experiments matter as much as this one," To'rin shook his head before he and Klarien both passed their cards through the ID reader which let the door open for them.

He turned his eyes to his personal tablet, where Malla had forwarded the division's weekly report, detailing the ongoing projects, their goals, scheduled and realized progress on each, as well as the current budget review for each.

Most of the list consisted of maintenance work, he noted--the Paradigm Shift Inducers under construction for the rest of the Primacy-class Doma'siduria took up over half the list. However, at the very top was the very project Malla had indicated earlier: the Paradigm Wave Replicator, a method of transmitting electromagnetic waves via an Inducer shift, allowing communications to travel at the same rate their nascent star fleet did.

His quiet contemplation as he digested the scientific analysis on the Replicator was instantly shattered, when a siren suddenly went off. He hurriedly raked his eyes across, searching for Malla. He spotted her mane of hair wildly swinging as she dashed over to a machine at the far end of the room, where a blue siren flashed and screamed. The scent of curiosity and cheer slowly vanished from the laboratory, as scientist after scientist seemed to be seized by fear.

Nimos carefully made his way through the room, brushing past other Zydurians, ministerial robes rustling with his motion. He stopped beside Malla, who frantically worked a monitor attached to one end of the wailing machine. Suppressing his anxiety, he bent slightly to match the director's height, and asked quietly, "Malla. What's going on?"

With glasses askew and loose hairs working their way out of a perfectly composed bun, Malla kept her eyes on the screen as she responded. "Code blue, governor." Nimos's heart seemed to skip a beat, accompanied by a sudden release of stress pheromones. The room quieted further, as the scientists noticed their governor's rising anxiety.

At the establishment of the unified Sidurian government and the foundation of the Supreme Authority, the Supremes had decreed that all Siduria would be united under their rule, abolishing warfare and international conflict. Code blue was reserved for violations of that one absolute rule--situations where a city-state seceded from Supreme Authority, and established communications and weapons systems outside of the control of the law.

Malla shook her head as she perceived Nimos's pheromone imbalance. "It's not what you think governor. This isn't a declaration of civil war--it's a message using protocols I've never seen or conceived." He blinked, trying to understand what she was saying. "This is nothing that's ever been used on In'idura, or by any Sidurian. The background layers of the message are practically incomprehensible; from what I can tell, it's some sort of video transmission, but I'm barely able to decode just the audio signal."

Nimos gaped. "In other words, governor, In'idura has just made interstellar contact." At that moment, the siren cut off. Malla relaxed, and brushed a sweaty lock of hair from her forehead. "I'm bringing up the message on the main monitor now."

An emerald-eyed man appeared onscreen. From the corner of his eye, Nimos perceived the director fiddling with the screen, apparently fine-tuning the message's signal. Still, his attention was dominated by the man's message--and by the startling similarity in his appearance to that of the Mala'iduria.

"Greetings, distant kinsman. We are the Ardon, hailing from the planet Aridae in the Skarulae system. We seek peaceful commune with other intelligent life in the Universe. Respond to us if you are able."

Malla shook her head, the corner of her lip twisting in frustration, even as joy and awe radiated from her. "That's the entirety of the message." She turned, and raised an eyebrow when she saw the governor gazing directly at her.

"Director Sidonis," Nimos began imperiously, his discomfort fading, to be replaced by a cool air of comfortable authority. "Is the Wave Replicator ready?" She nodded tentatively. "Then patch us through to the Authority, and fetch a video transmitter. It's time we put it to the test."

* * *

The Paradigm Wave Replicator whirred and hummed ominously, as it began converting and transmitting toward the location whence the alien transmission had come.

"We greet you, people of the Ardon, of Aridae in the Skarulae system. We are the Siduria, of Ini'idura in the Ladura system. May the heavens embrace you, and stay their wrath. Let us have peace. We are here. We are waiting."

Speeding through a paradigm shift wormhole, Nimos Madurna's message on the behalf of all Sidurians raced toward the Skarulae system.

"Sir!" Artexa exclaimed, rushing across the room from where she had been working with the technicians, adjusting her glasses hurriedly, "We think we may have detected a response."

"Truly?" Prime Minister Arkalex replied, as Doctors Troane and Maen leaned forward in shock, the latter getting up from her seat and rushing over to the monitors to investigate.

"Yes. It's unintelligible, of course, being in a different language from our own, but we're running all of our automated translators to attempt to decipher the message as quickly as possible."

45 Minutes Later...

"Have you found anything yet?" Dr. Maen asked, approaching one of the translators.

"Here's all we have so far," Artexa replied behind her, playing the recorded audio, substituting in the words they had managed to decipher so far:

"We ????? you, ?????? of Ardon, of Aridae in the Skarulae system. We are the ["Siduria?"], of ["Ini'idura"] in the ["Ladura?"] system. May the ??????? ??????? you, and ???? their ?????. ??? us have peace. We are here. We are ???????."

"Excellent work," Arkalex said at length, rising from his seat and approaching the monitor once more, "Continue working at deciphering their language. Perhaps we can contact them again, secure more audio, and that will help?"

"Yes, Prime Minister, more samples would expedite the process."

The connection was opened once more, and the following message transmitted:

"Thank you for your timely reply. We are most impressed by how quickly you deciphered our language. Would you be able to send us extensive samples of your language so that we can more aptly translate your speech?"

And with that, the Prime Minister returned to his seat, and they waited.

The crew of the Spero stood beside the ship. Slen Dramon looked at them all in the eye. {Grobbmans. Today, we step off this planet. But not in the ways of Zub Adlin to our stars and black holes. Today we leave the galaxy. We must get
out. For the sake of our species. We may encounter other life forms... but undoubtadley, they will be simple, and easily subdued. If we encounter species which are actually sentient, which is unlikely, we may be able to read their minds and quickly learn their language. Now to the much more real problems- we must use the Mass Shifter Sparingly. There are the possibilities of molecule disruption, or condensing with an obstruction in the way. The five Grobbmans taking this journey are very brave.
Caruxial Cio, our pilot who gave up half his face for science.
Nanene Ellis, our female engineer.
Doctor Hoo Backr, our chief medic.
Doctor Gremluck Holres, our nurse.
And I, Professer Slen Dramon.
Let us go now. For Phantasma.}

The group stepped slowly into the scout ship, and took off in a cloud of smoke into the grey orange sky.

Lan'Rise
Lord Mairens Palace (flower field)

A female Lan'iard with long pinkish white hair made her way through the flower fields, a calm and distant expression crossing her face and violet colored eyes while she looked at the blossoming flowers that towered over the city of Lan'Rise. The palace was one of the biggest building in Lan'iard and it was situated about one of the highest hills allowing it to look down at the city. "It's such a beautiful day," Princess Karina smiled as she looked intot he clouds. "Maybe it'll be a fun day."

"You shouldn't be out here so soon my lady, you've just recovered from your ilness. Karina turned around to the presence that had just walked in. A male Lan'iard with straight comb back blond and black hair walked towards her, he was wearing a long sleeved blue colored jacket with golden colored buttons that were all tuckered up neatly. He was wearing a pair of white combat pants and had two blades strapped to his waist. "It is way too dangerous for you," the man spoke with a soft yet worried tone of voice.

"Don't worry too much Safir I'm fine, I've recovered nicely actually," Karina smiled before she walked over to the man and patted his shoulders, causing him to blush lightly. "Plus with you dedicating so much time to me there's no way I wouldn't be recovered by now." she giggled before she started running into the field of flowers a cheerful face crossing her eyes as she smiled down at the flowers.

"Well your father left me in charge of you as your personal bodyguard after all," Safir replied before a smile cross his face. Having been a soldier for about five years Safir had seen a lot of things in the battlefield, however all of those things came to be naught compared to his experiences with Karina. "He's away at the moment he went to the west side of the planet for an order of business."

"He always has to work anyway," Karina nodded her head. "Hey Safir do you know about the Crystalized Portal experiment?"

"Yeah. It's an experiment that will hopefully allow us to make contact with other sentient beings like us," Safir nodded his head obediently.

"I wonder if I can go too...once we're able to travel," Karina looked down at one of the flowers. "Just like there are flowers there are also different species that we don't know about and I want to get to know them."

"It'll be dangerous princess you're a very important person to us Lan'iards for you to go would be risky," Safir warned.

"I know but I still wish..."

"All right people get working!" To'rin screamed as he tapped away at his keyboard. Everyone was rushing around the room, checking on the multiple machines that had been installed around as well as attaching what seemed to be black colored crystals to some of them. "Damn it why are you guys so slow!?" he exclaimed before taking a bite from the sandwich on his plate (they're done differently than in earth but I won't get into that) he began pounding on his keys once more which showed pictures of multiple people as well as bars that were either half full or completely empty. "The test subjects are running out of energy so soon."

"You can't blame them we've been going at this for almost a day straight," Klarien groaned while sipping away at a glass of coffee his face looking like he hadn't slept in days. "It isn't so easy."

"Who cares. I have a vision that we will connect to another world if we're able to work this hard,' To'rin smiled confidently before he jumped up. "Where is that idiot Clorin when you need him."

"Did you forget. He's one of the test subjects..." Klarien deadpanned, noticing a look of embarassment on To'rin's face.

"Yeah of course I remember that," To'rin frowned.

"Come on Clorin you're doing great!" Arnine exclaimed as she looked down at the machines that showed the stability and state of the test subjects, she was wearing a pair of headphones that connected her to Clorin who was currently inside a large test room alongside the other subjects. He was wearing a pair of gloves and a helmet that were all connected to a large satelite-like machine.

"Really because I'm getting tired," Clorin raised his hands causing four crystal shaved objects to flow beside him before they started to fire energy onto his body which was in turn sent into the gloves, making Clorin grit his teeth as he tried to prosses the energy. "It's getting harder to do this."

"Yeah but you can do this you're a scientist and a man so you can't give up," Arnine encouraged while she typed. She then turned to her assistants. "I want you to decrease the pressure of the room and turn down the power maybe we can get them to last longer."

"But head To'rin will get mad if you do that," one of the female aides whimpered.

"Do I look like I care about what that asshole thinks!" Arnine exclaimed before she turned back to the machines. "We have to give our part but we can't let those that are putting their lives on the line lose it just cause we want to beat some other group." Arnine frowned slightly, she looked at Clorin who was pushing himself even more than before. She felt useless for not being able to help him out even if she was trying her best to make his suffering lessen she still know that it was all falling in vein.

"Don't worry about me Arnine," Clorin grunted in pain before he clenched both of his fists and glared at the antenna. "I can still go on if it means making an advancement of my own then I'll be willing to let this body of mine explode," Clorin smiled.

West Part of Lan'Rise.

A loud explosion ran out through one of the buildings, before shortly being followed by a crowd of Lan'iards running in horror and confusion as flames and smoke went into the sky.

"Well it looks like things are going to get rowdy." a male Lan'iard with long spiky black hair walked out of the flames, he was wearing a black figure hugging shirt that was sleeveless along with a pair of black colored combat jeans and boots to match. He had a pair of black eyes and what seemed to be like piercings over his left one. "Burn baby burn," small fire balls came out of the flaming building before they were thrown at the innocent bystanders and the mans surroundings, causing them to explode as well.

"Now where's that King of ours hiding in," the man hissed evilly before he started pacing around; causing everything around him to burn instantly.

"ATTENTION TO ALL LAN'IARDS IN WEST SIDE PLEASE EVACUATE SAFELY WE ARE BEING ATTACKED, I REPEAT PLEASE EVACUATE SAFELY WE ARE BEING ATTACKED"

The Spero neared the edge of the galaxy. {Mass Shift now in use.} Caruxial broadcastedhis thoughts, before limplydropping his arm on the button. The ship vibrated rapidly, and it's molecules scattered. They reapeared towards the edge of another galaxy. Slen Dramon looked up. {Any molecules lost?} Nanene raised her hand. {Merely one of my glove's fingers, sir.} {Good. We've come to a galaxy's edge- it seems bright, so don protective suits.} Slen nodded, as the ship made it's way to one of the planets.

Alpha Wyrmyr sat on his throne, looking out to his planet. Its red-streaked surface littered with extensively dense forests was entirely his idea; red was a beautiful color in his eyes. He'd learned much about the capabilities of his population. However... what if they could know more?

Yes, it was definitely something he wished to explore. He'd ordered his finest scientists to go forth and begin the multi-scanner project. Sending millions of probes out to the great beyond lying beyond the sky. He knew there was life somewhere other than hear. Living for over 3 circa, he had to.

"Sire!" turning his head, he acknowledged his head knight.

"Speak, Gajeel," his voice echoed deeply.

Gajeel, bowing on a knee, looked down heavily. "Sire, the research project for our shields is not yet up and running as you've ordered..."

Whatever semblance of calmness Wyrmyr had was simply thrown to the wolves at the sound of the news. Standing on his legs, he yelled in a voice that shook the very palace. "What do you mean?! I ordered for it to be done today!"

Gajeel flinched. He had every right to. When the sire was angered, one was sure that blood would be spilled. Today, Gajeel happened to be on the receiving end. "Sire, I deeply apologi-" Gajeel's apology was cut short by a grunt of pure agony. His body fell lifeless onto the marble floor; diamond-like projectiles protruding from his head.

Bringing back his adamantine claw, the ruler simply glared at the lower being's corpse; hoping to burn a hole in it.

Turning to activate his computer, he growled at the scientist who answered. "If I do not get those projects done quickly, I will send you all to Arellia," the mention of their kind's afterlife was enough to make the scientists get straight to work.

"Emperor Pyke!" began a male Piscellan, swimming into the throne room. He knelt down in front of the two thrones and looked up. He noticed one of them was empty. "Empress Siam, where is your husband?" he asked, looking quite confused.

"He's spending time with his son," she replied raising out of her seat. Her scales were a dark red, a rare color among the predominately dark blue race. "Do you think we spend our entire lives in this room?" she added.

"Maybe..." The Piscellan, mumbled.

"Now why did you need him? I'm sure, I can do whatever it is instead." ordered the Empress.

"The scientists have requested his presence in Lab C," he answered beginning to stand up. Lab C had become the main facility for their FTL and space travel research.

Then I'll just have to go in his place," she smirked, and swam out of the room towards the laboratory level. She swam in and the door to Lab C slid open in front of her.

"Ah Emperor, we have something to show you," announced one of the scientists, as he turned around. He jumped in surprise, "Empress? I guess you'll be taking his place for the day." he said regaining his composure. He led her into a locked room, full of several other scientists hard at work. "We have been working on the land suit, your husband ordered. It shouldn't take too long to finish." he explained pointing towards a prototype in the center of the room, "We're also working on the wormhole generator," in that room. A small explosion was heard through out the facility.

"What was that?!" asked the Empress, quite concerned for her life.

"Don't worry about it," wormhole mishap, not a problem.

A scorched Piscellan walked out of the wormhole room and collapsed to the ground.
