Hey guys,
Just thought I'd post up a few photos of my current work in progress, a full sleeve pokemon tattoo.
There is still a LOT more work to be done, and a LOT more pokemon/items/trainers to be added.

I wish I could get a full sleeve. I would probably get lots of different things, maybe a pokémon or two in there. But my family/boyfriend would probably hate it if I got it done and it probably wouldn't help my career path so I'll guess i'll just have to jealous. :-(

I hate tattoos and think they're tacky, but if you have to go with a tattoo, that has to be easily the coolest choice ever. Get ready for some turned heads, though.

Your a pretty diehard fan eh? Pretty sweet though, I give you props.

I wonder what the tatoo artist thought? xD

Also, whats the pain factor like? Just curious since I doubt I'll ever get a tattoo myself.

Kick. Ass. :D I gotta ask, though. What all are you gonna add, do you think? Is this something you'll add on bit by bit over a long amount of time, or do you have a time frame you want it to be finished by? Is it going to be completely full color? Stuff like that.

Pretty much the most awesome thing ever. :D Best of luck!

Because thats all I wanted.

I love that you're using the really early stock pictures; they have a great sense of nostalgia around them.

People say fandom tattoos are tacky, but honestly, there are just some things you just know you won't grow tired of.

For me, it's not Pokémon, but props to you for going ahead with it.

That is badass! I don't care what anyone says, that is the coolest tattoo I've seen in a while. Even if I wasn't a Pokemon fan, I'd still think it was awesome!

Thanks for the love guys, now I'll try and get some replies out.

@Legacy: It's turned a lot of heads already and its nowhere near done, I haven't had many people say anything negative about it other than the usual "you do know thats forever right?".

@ Æsahættr: I went with the old school pokemon because those are the characters I grew up with. The newest pokemon that'll be added to it will only be from the Gold/Silver era.

@ Destry: Me and my tattoo artist have a whole bunch of pokemon and different things drawn up individually, and we're just adding what fits best with the rest of the arm as we go.
Next session should hopefully add a few pokeballs, a Psyduck and Prof Oak (while colouring the rest of the characters I've already got).
The next session I've got is in 3 weeks, which, as I said before, is mainly just colouring and adding a couple more characters. As we get higher on the arm it gets more and more painful so we can't do as much, but i'll try and last through as much as possible haha.

@ Guitar†Holic: The artist, and all the other artists that work in the shop love it, getting it done we constantly had people coming in to check it out.
Getting a tattoo feels just like a bit of sunburn, it's not all that bad. I can tell you that waxing your chest hurts a lot more than getting it tattooed lol.

@ Sleet: I've had it for a day and already I've attracted a lot of attention, and lined up some photoshoots for when it's totally finished.

That's one badass tattoo.
What other Pokémon are you thinking of getting on there?

On a scale of one to ten, the probability that you'll regret this in ten years is a 9.99.

I like tattoos, I think they're awesome(especially when it's obvious that someone put a lot of thought into the art they're engraving on their skin), and I've read enough about them on various websites and forums(and even talked to some guys in real life) to really recognize that they are permanent, as much as you're probably already sick of hearing that. Something that big is NOT something you'll be able to get rid of completely if you have it removed(unless there are huge advances in tattoo-removal technology), and it's too big to be covered up with anything but a generic sheet of black ink.

You're only 19. I'm 19, I've been playing Pokemon for over a decade and show no sign of getting bored of it, and I still wouldn't want to get Pokemon tattooed on me(or I'd at least get a much smaller tattoo). I just don't think that's the sort of tattoo that would age well, even if you did go for the nostalgia angle with yours.

With the lecture out of the way...keep us posted on your tattoo's progress. I do like seeing tattoos going from outlines to finished art, even if I think the tattoo in question is a bad idea. :p (although your tattoo is FAR from the worst I've seen - some of the things people tattoo on themselves are enough to make you slam your head into a brick wall while projectile vomiting)

That...is...AMAZING.

You are EPIC. *bows*

If you're happy with it, that's all that matters. :3

More replies.

@ Takoto: There's definitely going to be a Mew, Gyarados, Electrode, Lugia and Mudkip (what kind of Pokemon tattoo would be complete without a Mudkip? :p) and then a few more we'll decide on as we're doing it.

@ Juputoru: As you'd imagine, I do get that lecture a lot. You may be right and I may end up regretting it, but I may not.
The tattoo's I've got on me are a lot more than just tattoos, like a person that goes out to buy new shoes to make themselves feel better, or a girl getting breast implants, my self esteem is one of the biggest factors in getting a tattoo. I'm not going to bore you with any details, but I've been through some shit in my life, from bullying (which most people would have) to losing my mum just before my 16th birthday. Yes it may be a bit extreme, but it all helps me feel better about me.
Now out of the deep and meaningful, and back on the tattoos, just be glad I didn't get a tribal tattoo even though I have no tribal heritage in my family (theres a head meet wall occasion).

@ kiyone: So far it's cost me $200, but the day I start of the sleeve I also got "Have Heart" written across the top of my wrists which took most of the time/money. It'll be about $500/700 depending on how many sessions the outlines/colours take.

SMH.. * face in palm *

Man.. I'm sorry but that is an EPIC FAIL.

You're definitely going to regret that tattoo dude.

Lol.. I'm surpised this isn't on tattooblog.org yet.

But anyways.. If that's what you're into then more power to you.

I don't think he asked to be criticized, actually.

I like it. A lot. I really do. I was thinking about getting Jigglypuff on my hip with music notes around it, but I'll have to hang the design up somewhere for a year or two to make sure I don't get sick of it. :B Yours is a very well-done tattoo, and I loooove the old-school art. :3

On the regret topic: I don't think I personally would regret a Pokémon tattoo. Or even if I did, it's still representative of what I loved at the time I got it, etc. Clearly it has meaning to the bearer or did at some point.

It'll probably look real cool when it's completed... though by that time you may have to sell your arm and leg to get it. I wouldn't have done it with stock images, though, I've tried to make it more stylized but that's a personal preference. But either way it is cool!

Disagree.

How can you say he'll 'definitely' regret it? You don't even know him. He is obviously a big Pokemon lover who doesn't care what other people think of his tats.

I applaud the tattoo because I wouldn't have the balls to get something like that done.

It's the same reason that I don't go around my school telling people I still like Pokemon as an 18 year old. But nicxx obviously is more secure with it than you or I, and that's badass!

Nicxxx, keep us updated as you get more of it filled in and finished.

I agree with this 100%. Nicxxx, you've got mucho cajones man. Like Legs, I'd never have the balls to get that done. Hell, not a single person that I know IRL knows that I'm still into Pokemon; they think I gave up the franchise years ago. And I also think the tat is cool man. You've got my support, not that it means a whole lot.
