They surely will not use the 3 same BW starters again?
As this is a sequel, with a new professor and starting town/city won't they give a new set of starters too?
With a huge 300 Pokemon to find before the National Pokedex, maybe they will give the ability to choose from more than 3?

Its going to be starters with Hidden Abilities due to Akuroma's research on latent powers.

Were still in Unova after all, so the Unova starters still need the spotlight. Hopefully they will have that hidden "secret" that were all hoping for.

I'd like new starters, similar to GS. And some of the new Pokémon added to Unova could be new Pokémon. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

If we do have the original Unova starters, I'd rather have the non DreamWorld abilities, otherwise almost everyone will end up picking Snivy.

We might get the other starters as a secret event, like we did in HG/SS.

Well of course we'll still have the Unova starters because it's still taking place in the region.

Not unless Troll Freak gives Snivy nothing new to learn just like in BW1.

Well, I don't agree that almost everyone would choose Snivy if Dream World abilities are provided. Emboar's got a pretty good Hidden Ability as well, so some people would like to have something quite powerful. Also, I imagine that people will be confused when their Snivy receives a stat reduction when they use Growth (the first stat up move it learns), and not everyone would immediately see the benefit of comboing it with Leaf Storm or finding themselves being able to do it right off the bat (Snivy learns Leaf Storm relatively late). Therefore, it's a case of being patient to reap your benefits.

Ah, fiddlesticks! Had not seen that image before.
It does look like the 3 BW starters are back, which makes some sense I suppose.
Hidden abilities don't change them THAT much, but I suppose it is better than no change.

Still, I guess I can always box the starter early on, not something I've ever done before in my 13 or so years of playing pokemon.

I eventually thought they make us start with the elemental monkeys ! But the Starters are an obvious choice! I must Tepig whole Unova!

Don't get the complaints about the starters myself. If you don't like 'em, just...don't use 'em. The way I see it is, they're a ticket to the tall grass, where there are more than enough different pokemon to make a full team of six.

That said, I agree that the dream world abilities would be good, but it's not something I'd be willing to place any bets on. If the previous gen's starters given away on the global link are any indication (always male), they seem intent on keeping them as 'special' and unable to pass on their ability through breeding. Unless they set it so the starters you receive in this game are always set to male, I dunno....

Maybe he'll give you the three monkey Pokemon...with Overgrow, Blaze, and Torrent.

I wonder if we'll get all the old Starters at some point in the game, kind of like in Emerald or HGSS, except this time they'd have their DW abilities.

It's the perfect way to give us female Starters and solve the Egg move problem.

But yeah, I'm almost sure the ones we're starting with are the Unova three. Hopefully with their DW abilities (Contrary Snivy, come to papa.)

Well if they do have their Hidden Abilites Snivy will definitly be the favorite since Contrary Snivy blows the other two out of the water... Reckless Emboar is powerful but since he's already slow as fuck and has shitty defenses he'll he OHKO'ed before he can do anything so even with his HA he's terrible. Shell Armor Samurott might be good though

In game none of that stuff won't matter much. Unless Snivy gets a movepool revamp its going to be a while before Contrary kicks in, and honestly I can't even think of anything anyways besides Leaf Storm that Snivy could get thats Contrary beneficial.

Tepig at least gets Take Down at a much earlier level, as well as possibly Wild Charge if its hopefully found earlier, and even then still comes before Leaf Storm.

Snivy will be better competitively, but Reckless has faster results ingame. That said I'm probably still going to choose Snivy anyways lol

It's important to note that Tepig and Pignite's Hidden Ability are Thick Fat, not Reckless like Emboar. Therefore, you could say that those recoil moves will have to wait before they become more powerful. Still, that is faster than Snivy getting Leaf Storm.
