Starters Discussion/Speculation

Just briefly popping out of the void to say that I find it really funny that some people are claiming that Fuecoco's potential final evolution represents the dragon of the Chinese zodiac, when most agree that it will probably be part Fairy, making it the equivalent of a dragon slayer/dragon predator (not that it makes much of a difference, I guess, since some also claim that one of the natural predators of mice is also a rat).

Also,
Flying crocs are non-existent, even among myths and religions. A crocodille with wings is just a dragon
I find this post beyond hilarious, since that leaked Fuecoco evolution is apparently based on a crocodile-fairy-nun folktale from Spain, the place that served as inspiration for this region. A crocodile-fairy-nun with wings, that also ended up becoming a spirit. Guess those flying crocs aren't that non-existent in myths and religion.

also, as regards those pictures, bidoof is a beaver (not a mouse) and marill is a rabbit, no?

This crocodile-fairy-nun thing is called "Cocollona". Yes, it's a winged croc, but it's still unable to fly. What's the point here? Also your point about it being a fairy type is trash. Charizard is a dragon, but it's not a dragon type (Gyarados, etc).

Be honest. Does it look like anything but a dragon to you? Imagine a croc with wings. Done? Right, now tell me how related are your mental projection and that supposed evolution? It clearly resembles dragon. Fuecoco's supposed evo looks closer to a random dragon than "Cocollona" (crocodile-fairy-nun).

It just looks like a winged crocodile.

Actually, being honest, it's much closer to a crocodile with wings slapped on than what I would call a dragon. Its shape and proportions are crocodilian and it has what looks to me like stylized feathered wings, although the shape is closer to butterfly. Definitely not the bat wings you would expect of a dragon. It's only remotely dragon-like in that it's technically a reptile with wings, which is a pretty low bar to clear.

Edit: Oh yeah, and realizing again that this isn't the leak thread so it's really not the right place to talk about that evo anyway.

Do you realize you just pulled a Diogenes here? Awesome that you did either way XD

Anyway, on the topic of dragons, they're imaginary creatures, meaning literally anything even vaguely reptilian could be classified as a dragon just based on people going "this fits" (which people have actually done with the Chinese long, the Japanese ryu, and the Mexican feathered serpent god Quetzalcoatl/Kukulkan/Qʼuqʼumatz to name a few), and Pokemon somehow manages to be even looser and more random with its dragon classifications than most, since a fluffy birb and a walking coconut tree can qualify as dragons, but the most generic dragon design by most popular standards does not qualify as an actual dragon unless it goes Super Sayan.

So... yeah, I guess where I'm going with this rambling is that trying to argue for second dragon with Fuecoco to fit it into the Chinese Zodiac theory is very much a complete stalemate at best end unless I guess Game freak actually does give Fuecoco's evolved form the Dragon subtype, but since that would break the triangle with Water and Grass it's at best highly unlikely to happen.

XD Not sure what that means, honestly.
Diogenes was a Greek philosopher who, in response to Plato describing man (as in human being) as a "featherless biped", plucked a chicken of all its feathers, presented it to the public and went "Behold! This is a man!"

Or at least so goes the story. I have no idea if it actually happened or not, but it's a popular tale due to Diogenes discrediting anpther philosopher in the most over the top yet hilarious way possible.

XD Aha, I love it.

Sprigatito is my favorite, but I also really adore Quaxly. Can’t I have both? :’) They’re all so cute, they’re one of my favorite set of starters.

I’m already mentally prepared to dislike their final evolution. I fear Sprigatito to turn like Delphox (ew).

What are your opinions of them and if you like them or not and which will choose
im choosing sprigatito but I hope it dosent become really furry
Quaxly is cool too

One of these best set of starters. They're currently competing with Alola's for the top spot for me. All 3 of them have solid designs and so much personality in them. Ican't wait to see more promotional stuff with these guys, and all the merch that the Pokemon Center will get. Oh my gosh after seeing what they did for the merch for the Gen 8 starters, TPC is going to drain me with these starters. All the novelty mugs will be mine, plushes, posters, blankets, you name it, I'm probably buying it.

My personal favorite of the three is Sprigatito, partly because I love cats, and mostly because it's just so freaking cute. An absolute precious bean. I've also been incredibly partial to grass types lately.

Quaxly is a close second fav. This little duck is just oozing personality, and I love the color palette and simple design they went for. He's just a lad and I love how he looks in-game.

Just because Fuecoco is in third place doesn't mean I don't love this little guy. His design inspiration is great, a little pepper gator, and I the art I've seen of him and Totodile.

I think they're decent

They're all pretty cute, and thus is probably the first time in a while where I don't vastly dislike one of em so far.

One of my nitpicks is that we already had a cat and crocodile starter so I kinda wish they branched out a bit on the species choices, but I'll hold my judgement on that til we see the final evos.

I n terms of preferences atm

1. Sprigatito - despite what I said above regarding them already using a cat starter, I'm a sucker for cats in general, so I'm already gravitating towards her. And before you ask, I'll wait and see the design before I poopoo the possibility of her evo being biped. There's a chance it could be done pretty well, let's just where they go with the design.

2. Quaxly - Suave and funny. Bonus points for being our first duck starter. Used to be my least favorite of the three, but I've grown fond of him quite a bit.

3. Fuecoco - he's cute. A little standard design-wise though I'll wait and see when he evolves. Pretty harmless though

Though, again, that's all subject to change when we see the final evos.

They are all fantastic. I actually really like the water starter too. Like enough to consider it for a nuzlocke later down the line. And I almost NEVER consider water starters for some reason. I don't hate them, I swear. I just always choose fire for first playthrough and then grass when I nuzlocke usually. Except this time around I'm switching fire and grass because I can't just NOT pick the cat. I mean, it's a cat. I have to pick the cat.

Catnip Sprigatito supremacy.

They're all cute beans. Quaxly is easily my favorite as it's a water type and a duck. There's no way I'm not picking it. Plus, look at his personality in the 2nd trailer, he looks so cool and fabulous! :bulbaLove: Sprigatito is a really close second. It's super cute, and I'm crossing my fingers for Puss in Boots type of evolution. Fuecoco is my least favorite of the three, but I don't dislike it by any means. I just prefer the other two.

gotta see if sprig will be bipedal. if it is then probably fuecoco because my gf is gonna get quaxly
