STARTERS: which type do you normally pick?

Hey guys! I'm doing a study on the starter pokemon type normally chosen in comparison to gender. What starter type (grass, fire, or water) do you normally go with when starting up a game?!

Er... I actually don't choose because of its typing, it's more because of its looks. ^^''

My favourite starters are Charmander, Totodile, Treecko, Chimchar and Snivy, so going by that I've chosen two Fire-types, two Grass-types and one Water-type, which really gives no significant answer to the question either. But, if I'd have to choose because of typing I'd probably go with Grass.

In the Johto region, The starter are Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Chikorita. Out of all of them, I'd say Totodile because he can learn ice fang which beats grass and use water to beat fire.

I'm definitely a fan of grass starters , but once into the game, sometimes its appearance plays a role, like my level 100 Piplup! It's too cute!

Didn't vote (none of the options really work for me), but I usually take the grass starter, because of tradition (my first pokemon ever was bulbasaur) but on replays i choose the one I'm more likely to use.

Same here. I usually go for how the starter looks, though I do find that I'm inclined to choose the Grass-types.

Gen-I = Bulbasaur
Gen-II = Totodile
Gen-III = Mudkip
Gen-IV = Turtwig
Gen-V = Snivy

I usually go for fire. Grass types suck, and there are plenty of better water types to choose from. The only exception to this is Unova, where I picked Oshawott due to the lack of Water types available early on.

DracoMan favors fire. Especially Super Special Awesome Charizard.

can;t really vote as i am bascially tied between grass and water starters and i don;t pick between them becuase of the type (as i really can;t pick a favorite type between those two they are tied) but rather looks. I am a boy that generally likes water/grass starters.

I liked turtwig and snivy the best in the latter games. and tododile and mudkip the best in the older games. in the original i actually liked charmander the best but squirtle was a cose second i guess so i guess water type does take the edge.

I've played the earlier games multiple times and tried out each starter, so I'm not sure I can pick based solely on typing.

But if I went by my favorites,

I: Charmander
II: Totodile
III: Treecko
IV: Chimchar
V: Tepig,

then I guess it's Fire.

On my first playthrough of the generation, I always pick Fire, but I go for Grass on the second, so I guess I'm more inclined towards the twisted Fire starters than the others.

2. Grass / Fire
3. Fire
4. Water (!!!)
5. Grass / Water

So yeah, from actual usage they are all actually tied.

But I favor grass types usually. Not to mention Sceptile and Torterra are neat, just that I preffer the birds over them.

I played with every starter, since I am always doing challenges and restarting my games.
I usually choose the one I like the design the most in the first time I play the game.

Here is the type I chose the most in each generation:

1st Gen - Grass
2nd Gen - Fire
3rd Gen - I like the three, but I usually pick the grass starter.
4rd Gen - Grass
5rd Gen - Grass

About my gender, well, let's say I always take the female protagonist.

I guess you can still combine the results that you got on this thread with the one on the other thread?
