Steam-Powered Giraffe is a fun, silly band of people acting as musical, singing steampunk-y robotic automatons from the early 20th century, that not only sing, but perform funny skits and play their parts well.

Here's an example of their music:

Also, outside of music shenanigans, they have a whole backstory and timeline for the robots, and their fictional world. Here's their website, and even a super silly but cool comic made by Bunny/Rabbit from the band that gets updated weekly (most of the time).

Soo, this is like the discussion thingy for the whole SPG thing, I guess, about the comic what's going on in the band and the fictional world and music and all that fun stuff.

Ah!! I've been into SPG since Jon was a part of the group. I love Bunny, she's so adorable.
I loooooove they way they move in their skits/music videos, it's SO cool and really adds to the overall "robotness".

Also adore that they're basically a bunch of dorks that get to do what they love and enjoy. They are mega dorks.

I think this is my favorite SPG song right now.

I could fangirl about them for hours, woops.

My favorite is probably Fire Fire, Rex Marksley, or One-Way Ticket, but aah again I can't pick favorites with them, also all of the group is adorable and coool

Oh my goodness, I've not listened to Fire Fire before but that's definitely up there now in my favorite songs list. Goodness, I almost cried. Pretty much insta-bought it.

I bet it would be SO COOL to go to a concert they're at, aaaaaaaaaah. One of these days hopefully!

I think I might buy the newest album on Tuesday.

Aaah concerts. I've never went to any kind of concert (unless you count like school choir or band ones that i've been in) before, but if they ever come to have a concert somewhere near Ohio I may try to go with some friends who also like the band.

I've never heard of this band till this thread. But will say watching the video alone was fun, I really like how they move and their appearances it gave the video life really. I wouldn't mind listening to them more personally.

Their youtube channel is a good place to start, they post a lot of their music videos on it. Even their live videos tend to be very good quality. The song that got me into them was Brass Goggles, it's a classic and it's one of the first songs I recommend to people new to SPG.

Thanks. Thanks a lot. Now I can't stop listening to that song. I hope you're happy!

In all seriousness, being the metal-head that I am, I had never heard of this group until now. All I have to say is... wow. Their vocal harmonies are so pretty, and it's such a soothing song. Definitely adding that to my playlist, no doubt about it, and I'm going to check out their other stuff now.

Any recommendations on what other songs of theirs I should listen to?

They're so lively! I've watched their cover of I Love It a good few times just because of how lively it was. Usually I get bored of this song. Performance wise, they definitely have a fan in me. x)

Their cover of I Love It is so great ahahahaha. Whenever I don't feel good all I need to do now is sing "I DON'T CARE, I LOVE IT" and I feel better.
I read somewhere that Bunny and David Micheal Bennet (Rabbit and Spine respectively) both went to mime school! Another fun fact: the Spine is based off of an old character David had, hence the "SpineRaptor" youtube channel.

Edit: I just remembered I put one of their skits in my Dropbox! I didn't upload it to youtube or anything because I wasn't sure if that'd be ok, I'm thinking about asking Spine if it's alright. This version isn't on youtube anymore, the original poster made it private.

Wow, how do they move like that?! How is that even possible? And how do they sing so good when they're moving like that? these guys are strangely awesome in their own way!
