Now, if you don't know what a stereoscopic image is, I will explain.

Stereoscopy is the technique of creating an illusion of depth perception.

Basically, for this type of stereoscopy, you take 2 images from different perspectives, put them together and cross your eyes to get a 3rd image in the middle. An example would be:

(If done correctly, then the 3rd "image" in the middle should have depth to it.)

I was looking at stereoscopic pictures and got an idea. Why not use this technique to make our fan art 3D?

Because it would extremely difficult and probably wouldn't work due to the fact the 2D character's in most anime shows do not have the proper depths and proportions to be translated properly between 2 images at slightly different angles.
 
It only really works with photos...
and I can't cross my eyes.
