Steve Irwin Dead

I'm sorry he died. I liked him. I'm not surprised. He always seemed to be pushing his luck. On the other hand, he did live a larger life than most of us will ever hope to do.

I be honest, this isn't the way I wanted to find out this news..

but as bad as it is right now, it seems ironic. I wasn't really a fan but I had some respect for him.

I wonder if I was the only person to say "Crikey!" when I heard the news.

Steve Irwin wasn't anywhere near as well liked or respected here in Australia as he was overseas. None of us liked the negative sterotype of Australians that he encouraged.

EDIT: Apparently I wasn't. This isn't mine, but I thought it suited Bulbagarden.

Except Mantas don't have barbs.

Though how the Hell do get a stingray barb in the chest? It's not like a stingray had it out for him. I guess divers should wear bullet proof vests.

Here's an article on stingrays (complete with a thing on Steven Irwin's death already). Hard to believe the Croc Hunter was felled by one of this cute little guys.

I saw this on the news this morning and was saddened. My daughter and I loved watching his show.

Just as I thought, all the good guys die young...

But then, in Buddhist beliefs, dying is not necessary a bad thing. In fact, it is seen as a release from this unsasifactory, unhappy world. I hope he can now find true happiness in heaven in return for all his truely priceless contributions to the world.

R.I.P.

At least iss nice to see that he died while doing his job. We all know that working with wild animals is dangerous (excluding humans, those are the worst).

So yeah. I'm a little sad right now. Steve was so rad... :(

About a year ago, I caught a glimpse of his show with him messing around with snakes. I said to myself, "One of these days, he's going to be messing around with the wrong animal and get himself killed." Of course, when I said that, I thought it would be from a crocodile or a snake, not a stingray.

Even though I never really liked the guy, I do feel sorry for him and I hope he R.I.P.

I wanted to be a zoologist for a long time. This guy was one of the later reasons, and one of the inspirations. It wasn't the antics, it was the passion he showed that inspired me. Frankly, I'm still in shock that he's dead. Plenty of ways that wouldn't have been surprising. This is pretty far from those ways. And the fact that he's leaving behind a wife and two kids is just...geez. I'm at a loss for words.

Even if you don't like him Archaic, he should still be respected.

He never hurt anyone, he just entertained kids.

Fucking Stingray, I thought he would die in a more peaceful way.

That's really sad. I thought the guy was cool and really enjoyed watching his show.

I knew he was always in the middle of danger, but I never actually thought he would end up dying in the field.

Rest in peace. :(

Archaic, that's just plain rude.
It's such a shame. I really liked him. He was kinda my hero. ;_; I also had sort of a crush on him. Yes, a crush on an actual celebrity.
the second I found this out, I actually began crying. I feel as if I should do a tribute to him now.
The world'll never be the same......
RIP Croco-sama - you will be missed

Archaic, thats like totally mean and disrespectful. ;-;

Steve was a good guy, and I totally respect him for his contributions he gave to wildlife.

Rest in peace...

Just like others said, Archaic... I know you didn't make this and you have every right not to like him, but posting that image is very disrespectful. =/

Poor Irwin. I liked watching his show back when I was younger and still had Discovery. He was fun and had a lot of passion for his work, and he worked with animals and all that, and I just had a lot of respect and admiration for him.

How unlucky. There are only two other deaths by stingray recorded in the past 100 years. It's a shame he ended up being the third.

It kills me that the entire Internet exploded over this. It's like the top news story today, it's nuts. And I swear my jaw shook when I saw this first thing in the morning. I was all "what? The Croc Hunter? No."

The picture itself might be disrespectful, but you know it would've happened sooner or later. Who cares.

I personally never liked the guy. Too boisterous, too in-your-face. He expected people to take him seriously? It's too bad he died (no one really deserves to be killed on the job), and I'm sorry he's gotta leave his wife and kids... *calls her mom* but seriously, the first thing people are gonna say is, "He was asking for it." It's not cool to hear here, but it's the honest truth.

Sorry dude. It's not right, and people will miss you. That's what's matters.

That's exactly what my Mum said... who as one of his biggest fans is very devastated.

Now I myself was never a fan of the bloke and didn't watch his programs, but either way it was still a very tragic accident.

Rest in peace.

The jokes have already begun on LiveJournal. Whatever happened to respect for the dead?
