Hey guys,

So I want to make a semi-competitive team. I figured it'd be fun (or at the very least interesting) if I made the team and movesets by community project.

My only requirement for the team is that it include a physical and special sweeper, and a Slowbro. That's it. Everything else is up in the air.

Thoughts?

More info please it could be just about any team. but I suppose a trick room team would be cool.

That's the idea. I want to see people propose ideas, other people say "no," and then we work from there.

Team experiment, eh? Well it's basically what you want, but I recommend have a balance team with speed and power. (i.e. my revolution team is a balance team) A speed team with a couple of defensive pokemon, but it is what you want.

Seeing as Slowbro was the only Pokémon you're certain of being in the team, I figured that Slowbro's the best place to start with:

Slowbro@Leftovers
Own Tempo
Bold Nature
212 HP, 252 Def, 44 SAtk/SDef
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Calm Mind
- Slack Off

This is pretty much the standard set that Slowbro runs, a Calm Mind set. The strategy here is to come in on a physical sweeper that cannot do much to you, and start Calm Mind'ing up until your SDef is bolstered enough to take any special hits, and your SAtk is good enough to steamroll any Pokémon in the way with your two attacks. Since there is no doubt that Slowbro will be taking some hit while setting up, it will need Slack Off to keep its HP in the green. Surf is your main attack, gaining STAB and being boosted by Calm Mind. Ice Beam is there for any Grass types that try to ruin your fun, as well as for the fact that it is a solid move.

212 HP EVs (with 31 HP IV) mean that you hit 384 HP, ensuring the greatest amount of Leftovers recovery possible for Slowbro. The Def is maxed out with 252 EVs and a Bold nature as Slowbro needs as much Def as possible since it cannot raise it up,. The rest of the EVs can be allocated to either SAtk or SDef as Slowbro has no need for extra Atk or Spd; I personally would choose to add it to SDef as the extra 11 points can help weathering super effective special attacks. As for the ability both of them are lackluster, but Own Tempo can help with switching into Machamp, who loves to abuse 100% accurate Dynamic Punches.

Well, I hope this helped you with building up the team. As for the rest you may want some Pokémon that resist Electric, Grass, Ghost, and Dark moves, as those are Slowbro's common weaknesses.

I'm thinking, for the other spots, I want at most two seriously OU pogeys...a seriously standard team would be boring. I like Donphan, perhaps...I'd also like a grass-type of some sort hanging around. And perhaps a fast electric sweeper (Hi Jolteon!) or Umbreon. I don't know how relevant a massive team-healer is, although Miltank is a viable option for me...I have no desire to do the whole Heal Bell thing via breeding with Blissey.

That's just my two cents for the moment.

Jolteon@_________
Volt Absorb
Modest
Fake Tears/Magnet Rise (If you have platinum)
Thuderbolt
Shadowball
Hidden Power Ice/Hidden Power Grass

I dont know what item to use that would work with this.
Plus, I love Jolteon and this is the set ive been thinking about using and Ive been waiting for platinum to use it. Baton pass also might work instead of fake tears.

If you want a grass Pokemon AND a cleric (team healer) then Roserade springs to mind. It's a formidable special attacker, reasonably bulky (spdef-wise) and has Aromatherapy & Sleep Powder.

Roserade @ Black Sludge
Natural Cure/Calm
252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 SpA
-Leaf Storm
-Sleep Powder
-Aromatherapy
-Toxic Spikes/Leech Seed/Toxic

Unfortunatly it takes SE damage from Ice Beam. Other than that it should block special attacks, and take advantage of enemy walls to set up TSpikes, or cripple them with Toxic, or annoy them and heal Roserade with Seed, besides all that putting something to sleep.

I DID think of this off the top of my head btw.

I'd almost rather use Roserade as a support/sweeper...the HP seems awfully low for a cleric pogey. Also the psychic weakness is big.

You could probably just stuff Roserade's HP EVs a bunch, that'd help a lot with taking hits.. I don't have any experience with Roserade being a support/wall though, so I can't say much. Being weak to Fire and Ice though hurts it a bunch, but it resists Electric and Grass - something that could be useful with a Slowbro in your team..

Right now I'm feeling Miltank, Jolteon, Slowbro, Mamoswine, Pinsir, and Magmortar. I worry about weakness to fire a little bit, and nothing on that list resists ground-types. Uxie over Slowbro is a possibility. Also possibly a very fast physical sweeper over Mamoswine....thoughts?

Why not a Staraptor? Fast, resists ground-types and has a great move set. Plus no one expects a bird these days.

and nothing on that list resists ground-types

Doesn't Pinsir resist Ground? It might not be the best thing ever to send into Earthquakes, but you should probably swap out Mamoswine for a faster physical sweeper that also resists ground -- Staraptor's a pretty cool choice as it has a nice array of physical moves, 100 speed and 120something attack, but if you want to do something for the cool factor, go for Dodrio.

...Thooough, that does bring up the Stealth Rock and overall rock weakness up to 3 with no resistances. =/ Don't know what else to mess around with, though.

If you want speed, Darkrai would be a good choice. If you want power, I'd have to go with Dialga. Dialga's Roar of Time is really powerful. A Pokémon with good stamina would most likely be Snorlax.

I would recommend Heracross over Pinsir, due to it's stronger move pool (STAB Close Combat and Megahorn), Guts (there's nothing more worthwhile like switching Heracross into a Will-O-Wisp), and a better stat spread. Breloom may also be a good choice since it can (surprisingly) run a bulky set, and still be annoying as shit. Of course, the EdgeQuake resistance is also welcome.

4X Flying weaknesses may put you off, but none of your other Pokémon really fear Flying attacks, or can take them anyway.

If you want speed, Darkrai would be a good choice. If you want power, I'd have to go with Dialga. Dialga's Roar of Time is really powerful. A Pokémon with good stamina would most likely be Snorlax.
.___.

...
^ That. :(

Hmm, Breloom. Breloom is pretty cool too. Having something with a sleep move is always useful..

I'm guessing he's not running an Uber team, so no Darkrai and Dialga.

Also lol Roar of Time.

If you're going for different, I've always wanted to see this work: A Trick Room Rain team. Slowbro could be used for Trick Room, Rain Dance, or both. That opens up quite a bit of possibilities as far as fellow team mates. You could use Ampharos, a slow but powerful UU Electric type, and be able to use Thunder on it. You could use something not expected, like Clamperl, which is very powerful with DeepSeaTooth. There's also Azumarill in there, and now that it has access to Ice Punch AND Aqua Jet, it would be a beast. You could use any Steel-type for another bulky Pokemon and at least partially eliminate its Fire weakness.

I do wanna get exotic but not so exotic that I'll embarrass myself if I have to take this team competitive...although rain/trick room could be interesting. It might be hard to keep the rain up though.

I don't want bog standard stuff, just sayin'.

Also, I'm a moron for forgetting that bug resists ground.

Rain's not that hard to keep up from my experience. Have at least two Pokemon with Rain Dance and at least one with a Damp Rock, and you're all set. Though it might be difficult to juggle Trick Room and the rain at the same time.. that sounds actually pretty fun to do. Must try that sometime with the rain being my favorite form of weather. :O
