wondering if you guys have any strategies for catching them...I have been walking back and forth between ecruteak and route 37 checking my map every time i change the location until they are at a route i can reach, and battle them. Problem is, they keep breaking free of my ultra balls. i tried a heavy ball on entei, and he broke out of it as well. I don't recall them being THIS annoying in GS >.>

Quick balls and fast balls. That's what they're there for.

3xDragon Rage + PAR/SLP + Fast Balls/Quick Balls/Dusk Balls (at night).

A pokemon with Mean Look or some move that prevents the foe from running is good. Get them down to little HP and then start throwing the pokeballs. If your level is high enough, you may be able to use level balls.

At no point do you get really good odds, but as above, putting them to sleep and then using quick balls is about as good as you can get. If your Pokémon can survive it, moves like Mean Look can prevent the foe escaping (until you switch out or faint). It gives you a lot of extra throws if you have the balls for it.

However, forget to mention. I have noticed that both Raikou and Entei have Roar. I have used Mean Look on them both with my Umbreon (who is like...a brick wall sometimes) and they both used Roar within 5-10. So...Mean Look only works for a few turns, though it does help.

Actually, I have a question about roar (Ryuu is asking a question about HGSS? ARMAGEDDON!) I've heard a rumor that if they use Roar on you, the beasts vanish forever. Can anyone confirm this because I'd like to crush this rumor if I can.

Obviously, you get Scuicune by different means in this one, as it doesn't show on the map...I don't mind the spoiler if someone would tell me how.

It on Route 25 after you've seen it in all it's other locations. And you have to solve the power plant and beat Misty first.

Grab a Wobuffet. Breed a Wynaut. At level 15, set its moveset to Encore/Counter/Mirror Coat/Destiny Bond. Level it up to level 40. Use a Max Repel. Go the route, and then you'll encounter the Beast.

Shadow Tag prevents Roaring to get out, and once you Encore a damaging move, you can use Counter or Mirror Coat until you get to the HP you want, then just start chucking balls at it.

*proves false*

I have had roar used by Entei on me and he still shows up on my map. I've either had him use it on me twice or I've had both him and Raikou use it on me.

Either way, I know that it is false. They still appear on my map and I am still able to go after them and stuff.

Doesn't mean I've caught them...but they're not vanished yet. I really want to catch them just so I can get rid of Mean Look off my Umbreon before I go and fight the E4 for the second time, but they really like running.

Simple, do rematches with repels on and carry a Master Balls with you. Eventually you'll run into one of them and use the Master Ball on it. For the other one, just get tons of Quick Balls and toss one everytime you run into it. Don't expect to get it, though. Your main focus is actually on rematching. This is a great way of getting your levels up while going for the dogs.

From what I've heard that's the case in FRLG. And everybody hates it.

Well, they sure aren't helping me in the battle I'm in right now. Suicune refuses to be caught and it has 10hp or so left.

Hey my first toss of that ball worked on Mewtwo lol! and on Zapdos too...use Net Balls or Dive Balls on Suicune

use Net Balls or Dive Balls on Suicune

Dive Balls aren't that good on Suicune since you don't battle him on the water.

My method for Raikou and Entei is that I have a Gallade with the egg move Mean Look, Hypnosis from Kirlia, and False Swipe it learns naturally. I equipped it with an accuracy boosting item to help out Hypnosis so when I find one of the beasts I use Mean Look followed by Hypnosis followed by repeated False Swipes. I then make sure to exit the battle as it sleeps which may mean having to encounter it again if it uses Roar. The next time I encounter it it should be at 1HP and asleep so I set my highest level Pokemon as the lead and then use a Quick Ball which leads to an almost certain catch.

Also can anyone confirm that if any roaming legendary in HGSS faints it will respawn since I can't find this anywhere on Bulbapedia.

I caught the 2 roaming beasts by taking my Snorlax that has the move block ( i had lowered their HP in previous encounters), I continually used fly and keep going to Ecruteak city (it was at night)until one of them came to a route near the city ( i ended up catching both of them on route 38). I would go to the route and use block then throw dusk balls. After a couple encounters with each, both were caught.

Someone mentioned a rumor about them disappearing if they use Roar. In HG (and SS i would assume) this is NOT true. The 2 roaming beasts used roar on me MANY times and they never disapperared for good.

PS: I am not counting Suicune as a roaming beast as he eventually ends up being stationary when you catch him.
