Stronger of the two Gym leaders?

Just for fun, which Gym leader do you think is stronger of the two for similar types. This is NOT a "Which Gym leader do you like better?" thread, but who do you think is a stronger Gym leader in battles based on their types?

1. Rock Gym leader, Brock or Roxanne?

2. Water Gym leader, Misty or Wallace or Juan?

3. Electric Gym leader, Lt. Surge or Wattson?

4. Psychic Gym leader, Sabrina or Tate and Liza?

5. Fire Gym leader, Blaine or Flannery?

6. Fighting Gym leader, Chuck or Brawly?

7. Normal Gym leader, Norman or Whitney?

8. Flying Gym leader, Falkner or Winona?

That's about it for all the repeating types for Gym leaders, so lots of Gym leaders were left out because there is no other two Gym leaders for the same type, (such as Erika being left out because she is the only Grass type Gym leader, so there's nobody to compare her too)

Anyway, who do you think is STRONGER of the two Gym leaders? And don't play favorites, go by battling skill by either evidence in the anime or your own interpetation of the characters.

Based off video game canon (Not levels, but story), I would say:

1. Rock Gym leader, Brock or Roxanne?
Roxanne, because she is the star pupil of the trainers school in Rustboro, however Brock is rather tough... So I'd call it pretty close.

2. Water Gym leader, Misty or Wallace or Juan?
Wallace, champion of the Hoenn region... You don't get much stronger than that...

3. Electric Gym leader, Lt. Surge or Wattson?
Surge, simply since he's a war veteran and probably has a soldier like training regime for his Pokemon.

4. Psychic Gym leader, Sabrina or Tate and Liza?
I really don't know... However I shall say Sabrina since she is older than the twins and therefore likely to be more experienced.

5. Fire Gym leader, Blaine or Flannery?
Blaine, hands down... Blaine is a long time trainer who has been battling for years while Flannery is a newbie who just inherited the gym from her Grandfather.

6. Fighting Gym leader, Chuck or Brawly?
Brawly, cause it is stated that he trained alongside Bruno of the Kanto Elite Four.

7. Normal Gym leader, Norman or Whitney?
Norman, Norman is a seasoned warrior who goes all out against his opponent (Even if it happens to be his own Son/Daughter) while Whitney is a much younger trainer who cries when she loses.

8. Flying Gym leader, Falkner or Winona?
I really don't know enough about either... But I'll choose Falkner...
 
I don't watch the anime and I only got up to Winona in Sapphire. Because of that I will only base what I say on the scale of the gym leaders. Except the exceptions which I based on random stereotyping.

Brock. He is older and has an onix. Wallace, duh. Wattson, he has some nice pokemon and some experience. Sabrina probably will win in a single battle, Tate & Liza in a double battle. Blaine, Chuck, Norman, Winona.

Roxanne knows what she is doing, but so does Brock, and he has Water Pokémon!

2. Water Gym leader, Misty or Wallace or Juan?
Juan has a much better Gym than Misty :-) Misty is strong, especially since getting Corsola, but the other two have much better selections. So Juan.

3. Electric Gym leader, Lt. Surge or Wattson?
Both were beaten by Pikachu alone. Lt. Surge just looks the toughest, though.

4. Psychic Gym leader, Sabrina or Tate and Liza?
I like Tate and Liza more, but I have their battle with Ash already and Sarina is way tougher.

5. Fire Gym leader, Blaine or Flannery?
I've not actually seen either in the anime. But Blaine is older, while Flannery is new, so logic would state that he is strongest.

6. Fighting Gym leader, Chuck or Brawly?
Or Greta? :-) Chuck showed how tough he is, and ensures that his students are tough as well. Brawly surfs.

7. Normal Gym leader, Norman or Whitney?
Norman. Whitney has Miltank, but Norman has three powerful Pokémon instead of one. And his game counterpart is a master of using items to his advantage. While Whitney's game counterpart is a crybaby.

8. Flying Gym leader, Falkner or Winona?
Falkner is another newbie Gym Leader. Winona has a team of highly trained flyers, including a Shiny Swellow who can use Aerial Ace.

Brock has Geodude and Onix, but Roxanne has 2 Geodude and a Nosepass. So it's Roxanne

2. Water Gym leader, Misty or Wallace or Juan?

Wallace, because he's a champ and Ex-8th leader.

3. Electric Gym leader, Lt. Surge or Wattson?

Tough, but I'll go with Wattson

4. Psychic Gym leader, Sabrina or Tate and Liza?

Tateand Liza because of their 4 pokemon

5. Fire Gym leader, Blaine or Flannery?

Blaine by far

6. Fighting Gym leader, Chuck or Brawly?

Brawly is tougher.

7. Normal Gym leader, Norman or Whitney?

Norman is tougher.

8. Flying Gym leader, Falkner or Winona?

winona, Falkner is too easy.


BTW, FabuVinny, Pikachu beat Wattson because of an electric cold.
 
I know that. But Pikachu still beat Lt. Surge on the second time. And as I said, Lt. Surge just looks tougher.
 
I'm going by the manga:

1. TIE, both Brock and Roxanne seem pretty experienced to me
2. WALLACE, he's the champion yeah
3. LT.SURGE, ex-rocket admin plus Wattson is just a joke (he got caught by a malfunctioning machine in New Mauville)
4. SABRINA, sinister ex-rocket admin plus Tate & Liza aren't all that strong (got trapped in fire by one of the Magma admins)
5. BLAINE, Flannery is too new
6. TIE, Brawly doesn't seem much more experienced than Chuck to me
7. NORMAN, Whitney is just a brat
8. WINONA, Falkner is new and Winona is the head of the Hoenn gym leaders
 
Just cause Brawly surfs doesn't mean he's less strong. o__0 In fact, it probably makes him stronger. You have to be more than just OMG FIGHTFIGHTFIGHTLOL, you have to know your limits and know how to USE the strength you have.

Besides, if Chuck WAS stronger, then why did Ash pwn him so badly in ONE ep, and lose to Brawly? :D
 
I'd say a simple reason why Brawly is worse is because he is only the second gym while Chuck is the fifth. Not because he surfs.

Roxanne, because she can get harder.

Wallace. Juan is lousy, and Misty is always pathetic.
3. Electric Gym leader
Lt.Surge. Bah! The physical Raichu murdered my Diglett once. Wattson never even came close to putting up a fight.
4. Psychic Gym leader
I would say Sabrina, but now because of the evil Claydol which forced me to trade over my Tyranitar from Coliseum(or however it's spelled), I say tie.
5. Fire Gym leader
Flannery. At the point in the game at which you battle Flannery, it's really tough, especially in Emerald. Blaine is a pushover invariably.
6. Fighting Gym leader
Chuck. Brawly almost never gets in a hit on me.
7. Normal Gym leader
Norman, he is possibly the strongest GL of all time.
8. Flying Gym leader
Winona. Only a retarded person, or someone who started with Chikorita and doesn't like to train their Pokemon could get beat by Falkner.
 
My betting (based on the games NOT ON ANIME!)

1. Roxanne
Nosepass is stronger than Onix.

2. Wallace
He is a cool CHAMPION!

3. Wattson
More experienced than Surge and having better Pokemon.

4. Sabrina
Having batter Pokemon than tate & Liza.

5. Blaine
More experienced than Flannery (Anyway, I like flannery better)

6. Chuck
Much more experienced than Brawly (Anyway, I like Brawly better)

7. Norman
Having much stronger Pokemon than Whitney.

8. Falkner
Trains Pokemon better than Winona.
 
Brock or Roxanne?
Brock, because his training style seems to be a bit more flexible than Roxanne's. Brock seems more adept in battle than Roxanne does to me.

Misty or Wallace or Juan?
After careful consideration, I would say Misty, then Wallace, then Juan. Overall, Misty seems to have better Pokémon than Wallace. I'd put Misty's Golduck over Wallace's Wailord, her Quagsire over his Whiscash, and her Starmie over about everything else except Ludicolo and Milotic. When you look at diversity, Misty wins. If you look at whose Pokémon are in general better, Misty would win. Wailord, Whiscash, Seleo, Luvdisc, and maybe Tentacruel are just extra baggage. Juan is actually a decent 2 vs 2 battler, but his Pokémon don't complement his style...

Lt. Surge or Wattson?
Lt. Surge, absolutely. A war vet who seems very comfortable in battle. That's pretty intimidating. Since he was a soldier, I would assume he had to do some quick thinking, which would help in battle. I believe someone mentioned his physical Raichu that was fairly difficult to take out. And since Wattson battles 2 vs 2 without Plusle and Minun (which can be very dangerous when together), that just seems to eat away at his credit...

Sabrina or Tate&Liza?
Sabrina seems to have extremely well developed personal psychic powers, but Tate&Liza would probably be stronger. Psychic Pokémon are some of the best to use in 2 vs 2, and I have almost no complaints for Tate&Liza's team of Hypno, Claydol, Slowking, Xatu, Lunatone and Solrock. Moves like Role Play and Skill Swap play here, and taking advantage of Claydol's STAB Earthquake (almost essential in 2 vs 2) shows skill. Four out of their six Pokémon can either Levitate or fly, and the other two can just Role Play or Skill Swap to get the same Ground immunity. Reflect and Light Screen for protection, learnable by all their Pokémon. They really impress me. Sabrina does come in at a close second, though, with her strategic use of Baton Pass (in RSE, Mr. Mime couldn't be Roared out), and Espeon (my favorite Pokémon), does very well at Baton Passing Calm Minds which can make Sabrina lethal. I'm going to add on another Psychic trainer, Will, and I'll put him last, simply because he doesn't appear to have any strategy to him. He is cool, though.

Blaine or Flannery?
I'll answer Blaine. Correct! The door to the next room opened! Ha ha. Fire is horrible in 2 vs 2, and Blaine just seems to have more experience. Flannery is the more attracive one, I'll give her that. ^_~

Chuck or Brawly?
Chuck. I found him much harder than Brawly. There might have been a reason that Brawly is a Gym Leader on a small island and Bruno went on to the Elite Four. Brawly really doesn't use his Pokémon to his advantage in 2 vs 2. Having all the Hitmon-family members consume half of your team isn't good. Medicham could wreck havoc in a single battle, but it would die too easily in 2 vs 2. Machamp in a sense is just another version of the Hitmon's, mediocre Defense and high Attack and Sp. Def. Hariyama has the potential to do well in single, but in double, it will die easily. Might I mention that NONE of Brawly's Pokémon can avoid Ground moves? Try using an Earthquake and see how well the rest of his team fairs from it. I'll add Bruno to this also. He's better than Brawly, but not by much.

Whitney or Norman?
I like Whitney better than Norman, but Norman would be the stronger one, no contest. Although, Whitney was always at leat fairly difficult for me in GSC, specifically Miltank. I guess Whitney might be able to put up a fight against Norman...

Falkner or Winona?
Falkner, because of his sheer determination to make known the toughness of Bird Pokémon. I'm sure if he got stronger he could kick the crud out of Winona. She seems to be a bit of an air-head and a bit oblivious, characteristics I wouldn't think would be good in battle. Her 2 vs 2 team is just asking for Ice Beam, half her team is 4x weak to Ice, and the rest will be swat like flies instead of graceful fliers with Thunderbolt (namely Skarmory with no Sp. Def. and Pelliper with a 4x weakness to Electricity and barely any Sp. Def./HP to support it's weakness).

Just for kicks:

Karen > Sidney

Lorelei > Pryce > Glacia

Agatha > Morty > Phoebe

Koga > Janine

Jasmine > Steven

I'd have to say Brock. To me, Roxanne doesn't seemed experienced enough, and with Brock's breeding skills, he would most likely end up with stronger bred pokemon.

2. Water Gym leader, Misty or Wallace or Juan?
Wallace, he was the champ. Not really much else to say 'cept that I don't think the Misty of Juan could put up a good enough fight.

3. Electric Gym leader, Lt. Surge or Wattson?
Surge. Wattson doesn't seem to have the drive that Surge does. Wattson's in it more for fun, and Surge seems much more serious and powerful.

4. Psychic Gym leader, Sabrina or Tate and Liza?
Sabrina. Much more experience, better pokemon, and better attitude. She would be more focused on winning, not on having a good time. And she(as well as Surge, forgot to put it up there) woulnd't have a problem severely injuring her opponents.

5. Fire Gym leader, Blaine or Flannery?
Blaine, again, better attitude and more experience. He just seems to have the right stuff, and Flannery doesn't.


6. Fighting Gym leader, Chuck or Brawly?
Hard call, but I'd say Chuck just out of better pokemon. Although Brawly could put up a good fight, especially if he used a Meditie(think he had on in Emerald) or a Medicham.


7. Normal Gym leader, Norman or Whitney?
Very tough, Whitney has Miltank, and Norman's got Slaking. Two heavy hitters. Can't really make an accurate call on this, but Norman seems to have a better chance here.

8. Flying Gym leader, Falkner or Winona?
Hardest pick of them all. Both seem very skilled. Winona's got Swellow and Altaria, but Falkner has his Pidgeot and Dodrio. There is no way I can decide on this one, so I'm going to flip a coin(literallY) heads:Falkner wins, Tails:Winona wnis... Heads. My vote goes for Falkner.

Brock is a lot more flexible than Roxanne, plus has a lot more experience. We have seen his excellent skills with breeding, reffing, and battling. Roxanne is on her way, as she's a star pupil at the Trainer's skill, but I'd go with Brock.

2. Water Gym leader, Misty or Wallace or Juan?
Wallace. He managed to get to Hoenn Champion, and is guardian of the Cave of Origin (or something to that extent.)

3. Electric Gym leader, Lt. Surge or Wattson?
Surge. Wattson is a bit goofy, and Lt. Surge is trained in the field of battle. An expert. A lieutenant.

4. Psychic Gym leader, Sabrina or Tate and Liza?
Sabrina. Older and more experience.

5. Fire Gym leader, Blaine or Flannery?
Blaine. He is the experienced riddler of Cinnabar island, survivor of eruptions. Flannery has only just inherited the Lavaridge gym.

6. Fighting Gym leader, Chuck or Brawly?
Brawly. He has fought alongside Bruno and generally seems a lot more respected.

7. Normal Gym leader, Norman or Whitney?
Norman. Whitney cries when she loses, and Norman is a tough, serious trainer who has a lot of respect from others.

8. Flying Gym leader, Falkner or Winona?
Not too sure on this one, but Winona seems a lot tougher than Falkner, for some reason. o.o;
 
Ok. I'm going by the Pokemon games.

1. Rock Gym leader, Brock or Roxanne?
Roxanne. It takes my forever to beat her, and Brock is just too easy in my opinion.

2. Water Gym leader, Misty or Wallace or Juan?
Wallace. Never really battled him but I've never been able to even get to him. T_T It's so sad.

3. Electric Gym leader, Lt. Surge or Wattson?
Wattson! He keeps using the same attack on me which takes out almost all of my Pokemon!

4. Psychic Gym leader, Sabrina or Tate and Liza?
Tate and Liza. I beat Sabrina on the first try, but it took me like five tries to get past the twins.

5. Fire Gym leader, Blaine or Flannery?
Flannery. Even if she's new she's damn strong.

6. Fighting Gym leader, Chuck or Brawly?
Chuck! It takes me like ten tries to get past him!

7. Normal Gym leader, Norman or Whitney?
Norman. He's strong and not annoying! It took me weeks to finally figure out how to get past him.

8. Flying Gym leader, Falkner or Winona?
Winona. I've only battled her once and it was one heck of a battle! It takes me much longer to beat her that to beat Falkner. Only need one try to beat him.
