What is the strongest in game Trainer of the Pokemon series (not counting Frontier, etc. just normal level up battles).

IMPORTANT: This only counts THE LAST BATTLE WITH THEM IN THEIR RESPECTIVE GAME, WHEN THEY ARE AT THEIR HIGHEST LEVELS!

The options are:

- Rival Barry (Platinum)

- Champion Cinthia (Platinum/BW/B2W2)

- Champion Red (HGSS)

- Champion Iris (B2W2)

- GF staff member(BW2)

- Colress (BW2)

- Wally (ORAS)

- Champion Steven (ORAS)

- Champion Blue (Kanto Remakes)

- N (BW2)

EDIT: I added Champion Blue from Kanto Remakes, and N from BW2, although they have slightly lower team levels with only one a few items held.

By level, Champion Red would be the winner, but we have to take into account that except Pikachu, none of his Pokemon holds boosting items.

Same with Barry.

Wally is a very good candidate, because all his Pokemon are holding competitive items, especially his lv 81 mega Gallade. Also his lvl 79 gale wings Talonflame.

Iris is also a very good candidate, as her Champion team in challenge mode is equipped with all the competitive items and especially her lv 83 focus Sash DDance Haxorus.

Champion Steven in ORAS has a Mega Metagross and higher overall levels than his Emerald team.

Colress also has competitive items for all his Pokemon, but on slightly lower levels.

Give your opinion!

I'm going to have to give it to Wally. If you don't go in with a good competitive setup, you're going to get obliterated. Red, Barry, and Steven just have high levels, while Colress is basically just a weaker Wally. In the end, I think Wally narrowly beats out Rematch!Iris for the crown.

I completely agree with you. But it's very close between Wally and rematch challenge mode Iris.

Iris has 2 levels higher Pokemon than Wally, especially that Haxorus, but Wally has a Mega Gallade... and Gale Wings with Brave Bird is probably one of the most OP thing in the game.

I've never faced Red (shocking, I know), so I had to vote for the next best thing; Cynthia in Platinum. Hell of a final battle there.

Red. Can't defeat him without having a pokemon on my team faint in the process.

The thing is Wally (ORAS) and Iris (B2W2 hard mode) are the only options that have both very high levels and competitive teams and items.

Red, Barry, Cynthia and Steven all have only one item, and Colress has slightly lower levels than the rest.

GF Nishino has very good levels and leftovers for all the members too, but still slightly lower than Wally and Iris.

Ultimately, it's one of those two imo. They are REALLY STRONG for in game standards.

Honestly I never had trouble with any of these battles in particular. But I'll give my vote to ORAS Steven. He did wipe a good portion of my team before I beat him first try.

I assume you guys are talking about the Wally rematch at the Battle Resort right? Because the Victory Road match was so easy.

I picked Wally because his team is made to be competitive. Gale Wings Talonflame is a huge threat if you challenge him unprepared. And he has a Garchomp.

Colress is in second with Steven. That Eviolite Magneton really threw me off. Also, his rematch team is pretty good even though he has mostly Steel types. He has a Wash Rotom for any Fire types, and his Kinklang holds a Balloon. Plus, a Metagross is always a threat. As for Steven, I didn't have too much trouble because I played RSE many times so I knew what his original team was going to be. But his rematch team surprised me with the Carbink. That little gemstone killed off three of my pokemon. And besides, his Skarmory sets up Spikes.

N is in third for me. N is in third not because of his initial team in B2W2, but because of his seasonal teams during the rematches. They're all Weather Teams, so he's also built competitively somewhat.

The rest are tied in fourth.

I think the most accessible in-game hardest opponent (you have to fight too many battles to get to fight Wally once and getting the Challenge Key to fight Iris is practically nonexistent now) goes to Diamond/Pearl Cynthia (Platinum Cynthia is a bit easier in my opinion due to the larger amount of Pokemon you can use). Before becoming Champion (and thus opening the possibility of competitive breeding, new Pokemon, etc), she is a very difficult opponent. Her Pokemon are all diverse in type and all have 31 max IVS in each stat, making them that much stronger. They all have diverse move-pools too with effective STABS, her Garchomp is very difficult to knock out and she leads with a Pokemon that has no weaknesses. In all my years of Pokemon so far, she is the only "normal" in-game opponent (aside from Whitney) to give me a hard time.

Accessibility has nothing to do with the thread, just the power of the Trainers. Also Wally is rematched every day, once you unlock the battles.

I can still comment on it regardless.
Yes of course, but I got the feeling that you voted for Cynthia because Wally and Iris are harder to trigger. And that's not the right reasoning, sorry if I misunderstood you!

Definitely have to say I'm caught between Red in HGSS & Cynthia in Platinum, it's like battling Cynthia in Platinum was preparing myself for defeat every time, until I saw through some things, took advantage of some max revives, and found a 2-move KO choice for Spiritomb.

I'm glad Steven is getting some votes, although i didn't vote for him myself.
