EVERYONE: Stupid but believable

When a character does something stupid or short sighted, you often complain about it. But then, you put yourself in said character's shoes and you see that their bad decision was still bad but actually within their character.

Your thoughts?
 
i think the best thing to do is to actually have put yourself in a situation like that to mostly get inspiration from it. the next part is to explain it to the reader so they don't say "oh why did he/she choose that?" and be left with questions throughout the story.

Like ask yourself, "what would this character do in this scenario?"
