Of course, we cannot expect programmed things to make the best of decisions when we're fighting against them. But sometimes, there are just some really dumb moments that a wild or a NPC's Pokemon might do. What's some of the most stupidest things they've done?

There's too many for me to keep track of all of them. However today I was fighting a wild Golduck in my copy of Black. It first uses Screech, which "sharply lowers defense", right? And then the turn right after it, it uses Psych Up which copies all of the opponent's stat changes.

Meaning, it had just sharply lowered its own defense. :p Not like it mattered to me since it was at low health and was about to kill it for EXP, but it was still pretty dumb to me.

Dialga kept using Slash and Earth Power on my Drifblim when it could have KO'd it with Roar of Time. Also, everything that kills itself with Take Down.

The wild Gastly used Curse!

Infernape, return, go Roserade!

Gastly used Curse!

Gastly fainted!

For me, it would be a situation where I was battling and... the opponent decided to keep using Flamethrower when it's obvious that it'll be not very effective. Seriously, you should have three other moves! Also, the weird situation where the opponent Trainer decides to waste a battle item when it's clear that using it won't do any good, and when the opponent could have moved first to hit.

When my Pokemon has 1 HP left but my opponent insists one using Iron Defense or something like that.

Caitlin, an Elite Four member who should know better, always falls for mu Zuzu the Zorua's Illusion. ._. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It's gotten to a point where I can have Zuzu solo the entire battle against Caitlin, because she thinks Zuzu is Boca the Emboar. Dude, when Psychic HAS NO EFFECT on a "fighting" type, and when Boca is using moves she can't have, that Nasty Plotter, it's time to change strategies. o_o Really, a regular NPC falling for that isn't surprising, but shouldn't an Elite Four's AI be smarter than that? The Battle Subway doesn't fall for it, neither should she.

I was training my Gastly in Diamond, and all the Geodude I found kept using Selfdestruct on it.

I just remembered another one.

On the way to White Forest, I battled this Ace Trainer to a Rotation battle. And they were like 20 levels higher than me. And yet their Pokemon did nothing but use stat moves, or other moves that had no effect, every single time. My Zebstrika, who was like around level 47 at the time, managed to beat all three of her Pokemon single-handedly.

Shiny Koffing used Selfdestruct on first turn.

And Caitlin,as mentioned above, who repeatedly fell for my Accelgor's yawn,protect,U-turn combo.

Me vs. Cheren in that cave at the top of Victory Road...

Jens (Lv.100 Samurott) used Aqua Tail.

*would have KO'd Emboar, but...*

Emboar held on using its Focus Sash!

Emboar used Wild Charge!

Emboar fainted! (while Jens sustains a pathetically small amount of damage.)

Maybe it's not stupidity, but the fact that Cheren doesn't 'expect' his Emboar to go down to 1HP in one turn...but I still laugh every time.

having the scientists i think use something like an x attack or x defense and getting killed the same turn.

When NPCs spam moves like swords dance when I have very little HP left it's pretty stupid.

Lernora always beats the heck out of me on my first try and then becomes Too Dumb To Live during the rematch. Always. I may have an overtrained Fighting type/Pignite/both, use loads of potions, but on the first try I always lose. Then I go back to the gym and beat her no sweat.
Also, not sure if it counts as a thing pokemon "does", but when I tried to catch a Blitzle today I wasted three normal pokeballs and two great balls on it, and then it went into the first heal ball I used. After saving I decided to try catching another, with a dusk ball, just for lulz. It was daytime and in sunlight.
It worked.
