It was a pure coincidence of luck and fate.

The last and final Lugia in the world had grown old and sick, and much to his misfortune, realized he was not immortal as he once thought he was. Many years had passed, and he was convinced there was no other Lugia in the world besides him to bear offspring with. Sick, tired, and weary, he had decided it was time to let go of all his fears. The survival of the water’s Great Guardian was far more important, but he knew the potential cost of it. Regardless, he felt the world would be in danger without a Guardian of the Sea, and the balance would be disturbed forever. Grabbing the courage to begin swimming, he headed for Cianwood City’s shores.

Five friends who were also Pokémon Trainers had been alone on the beach one late afternoon, and that is when they had discovered the Lugia’s body washed up upon the shore. Normally, they would have been in total awe at the sight, until they realized the elderly Lugia was gravely sick. However, these five were smart about it. Three of them stood by the Lugia’s side while the other two went to obtain medical supplies. Never once did any of them mention the Lugia’s presence on the shores. Once they had come back, they administered the medicine, but it was only enough to keep the final Lugia alive for a few more minutes.

The dying Lugia had told them how important the role of the Guardian was, and how the balance should not be unbalanced, but that his death would undoubtedly cause a disturbance. However, he was convinced that if these trainers had tried to save his life, he could trust them with something of dire, critical importance. Meanwhile, the five stood in wonder, having no idea of what was about to be bestowed upon them. It was then that the dying Lugia had sung the Guardian’s Mantra, something almost no human had ever heard before. For a split second, each of those five trainers was suddenly enveloped with a white light, and for a split second, caught a glimpse of themselves as a Lugia. And then, just as fast, it was over with them being returned to their human form, and the final Lugia lay dead before them. For a moment, they were filled with the strangest sensations, but kept quiet as the ocean pushed the dead Lugia back to sea.

It wasn’t until two months later did one of the five realize exactly what the Lugia had done. After remembering the event and thinking about the Lugia that had died before them, in a bright flash of light, they had become a Lugia, almost exactly the same of the one that lay before them two month ago. They suddenly realized, they had the power to literally become the Great Guardian of the Sea in all his majestic power. They realized the balance was in their hands, and at least one of them would have to give up themselves to take on that role. However, they had waited much too long before deciding…

A recent blood test and medical examinations on one of the five trainers during a normal checkup raised a massive spark of interest. Many different alleles in the DNA, far cooler body temperature, and a mysterious outline marking of a Lugia on the trainer’s back. However, by the time the medical examiner had realized the secret, the trainer was long gone. And when the government of Johto found out about it, they immediately sent in an investigative team to find the five trainers, and examine them. After realizing what they could do through studies, government agents were deployed to capture the five trainers, who they labeled as “Quista, children of Lugia.” Their main interest was trying to figure out how it happened, and if anything could be done to replicate it.

Left with very little choice, the five must decide what needs to be done, and soon…

Five RPers will be role playing as the five trainers that had been granted this mysterious power and critical role to fill. Meanwhile, all other RPers will either be government agents and undercover police officers, trying to capture those known as Quista, or civilians trying to help the Quista avoid pursuit. Meanwhile, the imbalance in nature is already beginning to take effect. At least one of these five will soon have to give up everything to take on the role of the Guardian of the Sea, whether they want to or not…
