Suggestions for a play team?

Okay, so my situation is, I'm playing with Crystal; aka, Gen II, that's it, all I've got to work with. My brother and I both started playing at the same time and we're battling periodically, and I'm attempting to make a team (eventually) that will be able to consistently crush him. I'd like to use my favorites, tho, so out of the following list, can someone suggest which ones would be the best team and what they should have?

Arbok
Sandslash
Nidoking
Arcanine
Venomoth
Alakazam
Cloyster
Onix
Hitmonlee
Scyther
Golem
Machamp
Gyarados
Gengar
Kabutops
Houndoom

I'll eventually have a Mew, so I'm fairly certain she'll be on my team, but I'm all ears. =)
