Bulbapedia Suggestions, ideas, and problems

Not really sure where to put this question about the walkthroughs on the wiki: Are they made by one person, or is it like a team effort type of thing where there are multiple people working on them?
Usually any individual walkthrough is made by one person, while walkthroughs for different games are often written by different people. It all depends on who's interested in making a particular walkthrough; there's no coordinated effort.

I suppose each one being made by one person for each different one makes sense. No way one person would be able to do all of them. Especially when they might not have all the games.

Anyone who wants to contribute to a walkthrough in any capacity can. In practice we often see one person writing the initial base of the walkthrough, and then others tidying it up later, but there's certainly no requirement for that. And for older games especially, you can probably safely assume that whoever was working on it before isn't doing so anymore, so you're not stepping on any toes by picking up something from where someone previously left off.

The 'Three Mega Evolution Booster Packs' codes on the TCG Live section of the events page have the wrong dates on them, they presumably expired on the 14th of December 2025. It's not Bulbapedia's fault, the announcement from HelloFresh (...the TV dinner company???) seems to have a typo in it, but they should probably be removed because they don't work anymore.

The design of Bulbapedia's legacy templating and formatting was done before dark mode became widespread and many elements would not display as intended. If you're logged in, you can use the Vector (2022) skin to force a dark mode, but supporting a dark mode officially on our default skin will be a significant undertaking, as it was for Wikipedia.

Case sensitivity on login appears to have accidentally auto-created a duplicate account. Can this be fixed, and on a related note, who do I contact to delete/merge a wiki account? :bulbaFacepalm:

Where can we make a dedicated section about the movement speed of the player across all the mainline games? Some sections on some bicycle pages have their movement speeds listed, but not most. Having all the walk/run/surf/bike speeds would help determine how long it takes to hatch an egg or how many encounters to expect per minute. I have detailed technical info about movement in RSE, which is slightly less intuitive than you might think. Currently the page "Movement Speed" redirects to "Travel Speed" which is only about PMD.

Is this thread still being read? My suggestion would be a "Merchandise" section for each pokemon page where it list current and discontinued merch associated with that pokemon. Like it would be nice to see every Pikachu plush on Pikachus page.

I feel like a link to that sort of aggregation page on an individual Pokémon's page is more productive. For the original Kanto roster who've been around for thirty years, they have years upon years of merchandise available globally and regionally, and it would be far too many images to load on a single page in addition to what's already there. Not to mention how much longer it'd make the scroll.

We'd certainly love to have greater coverage of merchandise on the wiki in general. That's often something that requires a lot of research though, and is typically best done by, or at least in collaboration with, people who already have extensive knowledge that they could contribute.

If it was to be done, these would absolutely need to be separate pages to the main species pages. I imagine many Pokémon could easily support multiple sub-pages for different categories of merchandise, or even sub-categories. I mean, how many Pikachu plushies have there been over the years, yet alone all the other merch that Pokémon has received?

Off the top of my head, apart from a blurb describing a product or line of products, perhaps things like:
  • who made it
  • where was it made
  • when was it available for sale
  • what was it made out of
  • MSRPs
  • UPC/EAN/ISBN barcode details
I imagine it'd be extremely difficult to fill this out for a lot of historical merchandise though, if only because so many people will have long since thrown out the tags and boxes.

Nice to see it being considered. One of the reason why i noticed this feature being missing was because i saw someone post this 1999 Pikachu plush with absurd eyes and i was sceptical if it was even real or a bootleg so i wanted to look it up.
