Have a suggestion on how to improve the Tournament Colosseum? Let us know here!

If you have a question or suggestion about a specific tournament, please contact the person running that tournament.

hi evkl.. in the tournament section right the colloseum thing?
see I have a group called the International Tournament Group with about 50 members so is is possible to:

1) Tell people about it in the coloseum and host it in the group ?
if not then sure I will host it in the colosseum itself
ya so btw i was wondering because since my exams are about to be over should I post live tournaments ? or can I post non-live tournaments too? apart from that can I host more than 2 tournaments?
and
1 suggestion, you should make a tournament approval team or something who will approve tournaments before it is posted since that way there won't be any unnessecary or repetitive or not well done tourneys..

We'd really like this to be a forum, not a group. If you want to post tournaments, or if anyone else in your group wants to, they're free to do so. At any given time I'd really prefer it if you only had a couple of active tournaments, but really as long as you can manage them you can host as many as you'd like, I suppose.

The reason we aren't making tournament approval is because it's too complex for us as mods to constantly be checking on that. I think people can "vote with their feet" and decide what looks good and what doesn't.

Ya but some people may just randomly come in and lets say do this:
"Manz tournament"
Hi guys this is a tournament join if you want to."

This will irritate people and this will ruin the point of an "organized play"

Right. But if you'll read the rules we outline specifically the minimum criteria needed to post a tournament thread and we will lock threads that fail to meet those criteria.

Also, in response to your VM, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Could you explain?

I meant we can have a team of "non-modded" members like 2 or 3 who remain active in this section and don't directly "mod" but can approve or reject tournaments and can delete useless tournaments.

If the section becomes active to a point where myself and the other Battle Center mods can't handle the traffic easily, I'll definitely take a step like that.

But for now, it'd be good to get even a single tournament going. :p

Cool!
That works! and
We had a discussion about a team Tournament in the group so can I use the Group as an explanation about the tournament in the Mandatory thread?
(in the actual tournament sign up, I will explain) and
1) Does the tournament have to be a live tournament? or can it be non-live since non-live is better
2) Do you post a new thread every round?
3) How long does the sign-up thread have to be up for (minimum)

1: It doesn't have to be live.

2: One thread per tournament.

3: I'm not sure what you mean. It has to include all I laid out in the rules thread.

And I'm not sure what you mean by this:
We had a discussion about a team Tournament in the group so can I use the Group as an explanation about the tournament in the Mandatory thread?

3) I meant the time the sign ups should be open for. I feel that you should have 2 threads per tournament. 1 for sign up and 1 for the tournament.
and i meant we have had a discussion in the group about how the tournament will function so can I use that as an explanation?

For 3, that's up to you. As for 2 threads per tourney...that's probably okay too.

You can use that but I'm still not entirely sure what it is you're talking about. Post it and I'll have a look.

Shouldn't we have a limit for the number of tournaments running at one point? Not to criticize you insomniac, but all tourney applicants have been getting approved and their sign-ups go up, and then 1 week later it dies and nothing happens. There have been tournaments going on/signing up for quite some time now.
Just a suggestion:
We could have a tournament list wherein a tournament is hosted after another one gets over.

I don't think putting a limit on it would change anything. It all depends on the participants and how dedicated they are.

I could post a thread with a poll and ask everyone how they would like to see things go.

This place has way too many stickies. I think the rule breakers thread could be merged with the one in the normal battle center, especially since Im pretty sure neither have been used. The bracket creator could be added in as a suggestion to a rule. The tournament Limit poll isn't really needed any more and could be deleted or archived. And the bottom two tourneys could be archived too.

It would clean up the place alot.

Please note: The thread is from 15 years ago.
Please take the age of this thread into consideration in writing your reply. Depending on what exactly you wanted to say, you may want to consider if it would be better to post a new thread instead.
