I can freely browse forums now. So, I HAD to do that.

Sugimori Artwork Thread v.2!

Don't tell me there's already one because that thread covers only DP. This thread is about all artworks to every Pokemon Game.

I'm just afraid that this thread will attract person with 100 names known as: pochi/javier/7up/tricolor/giselebii/king of n00bs.

But since I'm a real Sugimori fan, I don't care about him.

Feel free to post your rare Sugimori Artworks or request them. I would be able to do some request since I have the big collection of Trainers Sugimori Artworks on my precious disk.

I'm not very interested in Pokemon artwork, I constantly search for Trainer artworks and scenes artwork since they are rare.

You can also post the sources of rare sugimori artworks. I wonder where they can be found.

- Pokemon Garden "site" (it has some good scenes, and precious GS Kanto map, however, in small size [if you have bigger GS Sugimori's Kanto Map, ONLY GS, please upload it, I search for it since years).
- Japanese guides. I have Nintendo Power GS Guiide and Prima's Crystal Guide. It doesn't include anything special for ya. Just all Pokemon and most common Trainers. However, I faithfully believe that Japanese Guides have rare artworks in them. I search for their owners.

Enjoy this thread, make sure you have some rare artwork  .

Can you read? I AM Interested in Pokemon Artworks but I'm searching ONLY for TRAINERS (Characters), not in Monsters themselves.

However, It's interesting nonetheless. I also saw 2-Pokemon Themed Artworks with Pulseman cameos.

These "Pulseman cameos" are also in Pokemon Games. There is a move Volteccer, which was translated by stupid dubbers as "Volt Tackle".

WHOOPS! I didn't notice "the only searching for trainers" thing you said...

Not exactly, even in Pluseman I'm sure it was meant as "Volt Tackle". Just a shortened version, but in Pokemon it's clearly stated as "Volt Tackle" in both English and Japanese.

Slightly off topic, I wish Sega put Pulseman on the VC for Wii (because I want to play it on the new systems) and make a new game for the DS spanning both screens.

However back on topic, I just wish Sugimori just releases an art book already, it feels almost rude that he hasn't. (Like he's implying it's not my art that I drew but a team effort of us all at gamefreak)

Maybe because it hasn't been brought up? I never heard of such a request, and it sounds like a good one.

Well, not Volteccer is ボルテッカー (BORUTEKKAA) and Volt Tackle in Japanese would be spelt ボルトタックル (BORUTO TAKKURU). BORUTEKKA and BORUTOTAKKURU do not match. So, It's not a shortening.

It would be better, if he opened his own Website with his works. I wish I had an email to elusive Ken, maybe my Japanese knowledge is not enough to communicate but I'm sure I would be able to find someone.

But, well, that's isn't going to come true. Ken is extremely elusive.

He does have an art site though: http://homepage.mac.com/ken_ksg/dotdot.html
I've tried emailing the address posted there but no reply yet. He may have forgotten about his site or something.

-edit-
Oh yeah, and here's the web archive link too: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://homepage.mac.com/ken_ksg/dotdot.html

As for rare, here's one I've come across: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v160/Cradily/320ul.jpg?t=1175445757

I think it's kinda cool that Sugimori is a Phantasy Star and RoboCop fan.

wait, Sugimori ken has a homepage? Since when?
I always searched for his page but never found his ( guess
using 杉森建 wasn't sufficient enough :/)

i also have some rather obscure sugimori art-
Green.gif
Red.gif
Blue.gif

I believe these were only seen on the back of the first 3 Pocket monsters games...

I'm pretty sure I once had a deck of playing cards that had those pictures on them.. the bulbasaur looks particularly familiar but.. It was years ago and I don't have them any more, unfortunately D:

Well, the male hero from first gen appears in this image from a Gamefreak blog:
http://www.gamefreak.co.jp/blog/staff/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kani1025_02_l.jpg

could that possibly be 14 year old Red from the 2nd gen?

That's the new style too.

Artwork for G/S Remake: Confirmed. :p

those three pics look similar to the pictures that I have in my Official Guide. It was the greek book with the purple sparkly thing in front and it had the main chara bios and all the Pokemon and Mew and Togepi in it.

Dear old Ken seems to be a bit of an otaku, figuring from all the crap he has on display XD

Sorry if this thread shouldn't be bumped but this place seems to be laid back about the month old rule

is there any art of the movie 10 characters yet? Usually that settei-ish stuff with the character designs comes out. I hear that it comes with a dvd of the movie...
but I just realized, it should be available by now

^^^
I'm waiting for that too.. but the movie webpage you probably already seen is probably all we have for now.. I thought Coro Coro was going to have the official art for Shaymin or something, but I haven't seen the scans posted yet. (I guess I can go out and buy it... but Kinokuniya is slow (as in they probably don't have it), and I feel weird buying little kids books like that now-a-days :p though I shouldn't )

He's the cool type of otaku :)
(lol)

I think it’s a great idea

My daughter is right now 10 years old and she has inherited her great grandmother art ability. She wants to sell her art online on places such as eBay. She draws, paints, does pencil drawings, on canvas, and such. I think it’s a great idea, and don’t mean to be discouraging to her but at the same time I worry about if it doesn’t sell will she be really upset. Should I let her or crush the dream?
