Well, now I'm curious about what's going on at Japanese game centers to not allow children in. I believe this was deliberate, perhaps they really meant it when they said they wanted to appeal to older fans as well with Pokkén Tournament.

Suicune. :D My favorite legendary behind Keldeo! But I need Keldeo and Infernape too! I mean, FIGHTING types should have priority in a game like this.

It's just that children can't go into Japanese game centers late at night. It's a Japanese law, not anything due to Pokken itself.

Roster is still shit, I see. So far Gardy is the only remotely cool playable Mon in the game, hope that changes soon.

Suicune gives me some hope as far as body types go at least.

Holy crap, this game looks amazing. Can't wait for a Wii U release.

Re: Suicune, Gardevoir, Pikachu revealed as playable in Pokkén Tournament: First roun

I'm not really one for game spin-offs, Pokemon or not, but I still find this one to be particularly intriguing. I'm hoping it gets an international release if it lives up to expectations, as it looks engaging from what I've seen. Plus, I have no complaints with the roster so far, so I'm looking forward to seeing what other Pokemon might make it in as playable characters.

Just adding that Eevee is also in the game in some capacity, presumably as a support Pokémon.

It was seen very briefly on the arcade machine during yesterday's stream.

Re: Suicune, Gardevoir, Pikachu revealed as playable in Pokkén Tournament: First roun

So I have decided that Gardevoir is a) cool and b) a worthy addition to the game, both after initially deeming it entered in to be woman-like (which is still a possibility, admittedly). I also like an arrogant Pikachu, as Pikachu really do have a reason to be arrogant in the broader context of pokemon. (I have a new headcanon that says that Pikachu have many localized "subspecies" with distinguishable moves unique to where they are from: I'll just take this one to be one that specially knows Extremespeed and Volt Tackle, which makes it really, really special. And really I think a Pikachu should have to have Extremespeed to be in the game, a small pokemon needs a convincing strike to go head to head with fighters it's fighting in a fight.) Pikachu is probably one of the most valid small pokemon in this game: only Jirachi, Froakie and Fletchling are who I'd list as smaller pokemon who could be fit into the game, and only Mew, Bellossom, Marill, Victini, Emolga, Bunnelby, and Inkay (and possibly Cacnea) are equal sized pokemon who could maybe be put into the game. (This is Emolga as a player-character, mind, as it already is a possible support.) Among these Froakie and Fletchling are totally outclassed while Marill, Bunnelby and Inkay are all at least theoretically outclassed by their evolutions unless they hold an Eviolite.

If you wish to see the rest of my discourse about small pokemon, well...
Pokemon slightly larger than Pikachu at 1'08" that could fit in are Squirtle (if it has its Smash movement and speed, or that of Tierno's in the anime), Jigglypuff, Mankey, Voltorb, Linoone, Sableye (put it in with Lopunny, yeah!), Chimchar, Cinccino, Pawniard, Binacle, Noibat and Hoopa. Pokemon at 2''' that could go in are Shuckle (Rock Polish and Power Trick set up moves, yeah!?), Celebi, Mawile (but of course!), Meditite, Illumise (with a Solar Flare technique, eh?), Chimecho, Staravia, Tranquil, Timburr, Scraggy, Amoonguss, Klinklang, Meloetta, Frogadier, Pancham, and Meowstic.

Pokemon at 2'4" that could go in are Bulbasaur, Dugtrio, Tyrogue, Swellow, Volbeat, Spoink, Riolu, Croagunk, Excadrill, Whimsicott, Gothorita, Quilladin, Fletchinder, and Diancie. Pokemon at 2'7" that could go in are Raichu (which is a giantly giant yes!), Nidorina, Machop, Farfetch'd, Azumarill, Jumpluff, Aipom, Ninjask, Shedinja, Servine, Dewott, Galvantula, Accelgor, Honedge, Doublade, and Hawlucha.

I'll conclude here because Raichu was mentioned, and because my lists are getting both more subjective in relation to my opinion and more weird as I'm just listing things that could be included--not should. I do think Jirachi, Mew, Bellossom, Victini, Jigglypuff, Linoone, Sableye, Cinccino, Hoopa, Shuckle, Celebi, Mawile, Illumise, Meloetta, Meowstic, Tyrogue, Volbeat, Spoink, Riolu (with Prankster!), Excadrill, Whimsicott, Diancie, Raichu, Machop, Farfetch'd, Azumarill, Ninjask, Shedinja, Accelgor, Doublade, and Hawlucha could be good fighters, with the italicized being especially excellent and the italicized-bolded-underlined being especially-especially excellent, which is admittedly a lot of them.

Celebi, Jirachi, Victini and Hoopa could make their own stories and plotlines, and those of all other characters. Machop and Raichu make sense in the game as Machop is still quite physically strong for a pokemon and is still a martial artist while Raichu can do anything Pikachu can do better save hold the Light Ball or Eviolite.
It does seem like the Pokken Pikachu has longer limbs though.

Anyway, that leaves Suicine. I'm not too keen on any quadruped being in the game, but Suicune makes sense for a Japanese arcade/combat game for various reasons of flavor. (If this were an American fighter being built from the ground up you wouldn't find such a fighter.) I wouldn't mind seeing Raikou and Entei in the game now, honestly.

What I mean is that they likely decided to debut the Pokkén stuff late at night knowing children can't go there at that time due to said law. It's an indirect way to only have the older fans on the first day.

I imagine it's just a booking thing. Also, keep in mind that the other two days are on the weekend (so people likely have the whole day free), whereas the first day is a Friday (so most people have work/school during the daytime).

I just hope they don't hyper-sexualize Gadevoir (thank goodness is a cross over with Tekkn and not Dead or Alive...)

How is it possible to hyper-sexualize it without any noticeable derivation of its core design? I mean, maybe if it was Lopunny that would be possible, but I don't see it with Gardevoir.
