Famitsu also gave it 9/10/10/9 (38/40), but I was unable to find details.

Either this is an amazing game, or has the same flaws as all pokemon games. The vids don't have too many spoilers.

I would have given SM a 8/10. I took some points due to customization and no national dex in the game.

Most reviewers gave x and y (my absolute least favorite pokemon games.) the same scores. So I ain't really holding my breath for the opinions of people who have only played go when it was a fad and play pokemon just when they are told to review it.

Its a miracle! IGN gave it a very high score, when I expected a 7 at best if they'll complain about something as petty as a region having "too much water".
That´s probably the reason IGN liked SM so much... Alola is surrounded by a lot of water, but none of it is explorable. xD

I don't think those two features are large enough to take points away. It's hard when reviewing because you have to be subjective, but think about how the world will like it too. Some people probably don't mind those features, especially customisation. The reviewers had to take that into account. That's an interesting score though :)

I'm really happy with those review scores. It maks me even more hyped, and I'm glad that the reviewers seem to like the new features and the nostalgia.

I'm enjoying these reviews; can't help but laugh a little at the fact that a bunch of them are using an image from X and Y instead of Sun and Moon but ah well, haha.

Well to me, those features were enough for me to take points off. 8/10 is still pretty good.

The highest rated Pokemon games on Metacritic are HGSS, BW and XY, which all share an average score of 87. Right now the average for Sun and Moon is 88, but I assume there will be more reviews.

Anyway, the past three generations basically having identical scores makes it hard to use them as a good metric for the hardcore fans. Maybe if the average ends up being a 90, the difference will mean something.

BW and HGSS deserve to be the highest rated, and this is coming from a critic of Gen II. HGSS just took the good stuff about Gen II and made it better.

Still not as good as Gen V, but I'm honestly thinking VII might be better despite being the Gen of slowness.

Ok, what do all the reviewers say about the lag/black screens/performance during Doubles&Battle Royal&Totems/other possible issues/ when playing on a 2DS?

This is the one thing I wanna know about SM atm. If it is as bad as Hodrde, Triple, Rotation battles in XY/ORAS, I am ok. I just hope it is not worse than that...

All I know is that the performance is noticeably better on the New 3DS during SOS/double/royal battles and Poke Finder sequences. The games also take longer to load on the original 3DS.

I doubt that the 2DS is worse than the original 3DS performance-wise.

Hmm... Well, I don't care about Totem Battles and I am ok with slight issues with PokeFinder.

What bothers me is the possible issues during Doubles, Multi and Battle Royal Battles, as I plan to do a lot of those on Battle Tree. As I said, if it is as bad as the Triple/Rotation battles in XY/ORAS, I don't mind, but I hope it's nothing more than that...
