Sunset in Cherrygrove: A Journey Through Johto

The was just beginning to rise over the Johto region, silhouetting Mount Silver against the brightening sky, which was painted in pastels of pink and orange. Ty Dalton's brown hair rustled like leaves in the cool breeze as he stared down Route 29, various thoughts racing through his head. Many wild Pokemon were just awakening at this early hour, chirping in the trees and scuttling through the tall grass and foliage that lined both sides of the path connecting his hometown of Cherrygrove City to New Bark Town. Although Ty had taken this route quite a few times before, this time was different. Now, it was filled with the anxiety and anticipation of starting a Pokemon journey, something he was not used to, but was rather refreshing.

Wow, today really crept up on me... I can hardly believe it's already time, he mused, looking over his shoulder to make sure his Swinub, Tubs, was still at this heels.

There was a silhouette over the ridge, a blur dashing down the hillside. The figure came to a halt, and upon closer inspection, was revealed to be an overgrown absol and a Trainer with crimson hair. Desiderata dismounted her Pokémon, patting him on the head. "Good job, Wraith. I never thought we'd make it in time." The female told the Absol, her amethyst gaze resting on her partner.

Drew Hale made his way into a Pokemon Center that catered to trainers traveling down Route 29. It was early in the morning, so it was near-deserted and there was hardly anyone on the roads.

Why aren't I asleep? he wondered, tossing his bag on to a bench near one of the low lobby tables, shortly before sitting down next to it.

Do I even really want to be on a journey?

At this point, Drew was struggling to keep himself awake. He thought maybe he should eat something to keep his energy up, but was far too nervous to feel hungry. He pulled a lava cookie out of his bag, which is usually a snack meant for Pokemon, but still has nutritional value for people.

I made a promise to her and Rex. I can't go back. They'd call me a quitter.

Drew leaned his head back, hoping to doze off for a few minutes before he would once again have to be on the road if he wanted to be in New Bark Town on time. It had been a long trip from Hoenn, but he decided that he liked Johto. It was notably cooler and more temperate here, but he enjoyed this. Drew slung his bag over his shoulder and took out his PokeGear. Flipping to the map application, he analyzed the distance to his destination and returned outside to continue down the path.

Like Ty, Ashlyn was located on Route 29 as well. Back when she was fourteen years old, she and her family moved all the way to New Bark Town. While it was true she wasn't too fond of the decision to leave Slateport City back in Hoenn, it was also true this was a brand new experience for her. This new experience was something she had been wanting throughout her whole entire uneventful life. With a sigh, she rested herself against a small tree off in the grass filled area of the route. "Now before I do anything..." Ashlyn muttered to herself, pulling a book out of her messenger bag. It was a guide on each of the routes in the Johto region and the Pokemon that resided in each one. "I should do some research about Route 29."

As the tops of buildings appeared into view over the treetops, Drew grew more anxious. He took a deep breath of fresh air as he stretched, trying to get rid of the grogginess from an early wake-up and a long plane ride. "May as well let Rex enjoy himself too. Come on out!" he called, throwing the Pokeball that contained his partner high above his head. "Ri!" the Riolu cheered, happy to be out in the morning sun.

"Rex, what do you think these are for?" Drew signaled to the large windmills that dotted the landscape around New Bark Town. He found them pretty interesting, but decided to dwell on it more later. He didn't want to be late to the Pokemon Research Lab.

Alex was always an early riser and today was no exception. He's lived in Johto for all of his life, though the boy never truly had a chance to explore it all. Today that would change as he begun his journey. The short black haired boy was rather eager to see the world, though he never seemed to forget about the weight on his shoulders he had. The day was only starting and by now, Alex had stopped by Professor Elm's lab to pick up his very first Pokemon.

A Cyndaquil clung to the boy's shoulder, looking around with curiousity as Alex left the peaceful New Bark Town to set out for his journey. The Cyndaquil hasn't known Alex for very long, but he didn't seem to reject him in any way.

Alex looked around the forest path of Route 29 as he walked down the dirt road. It was rather quiet and serene to the boy. There was one thing he knew he had to do first: Visit the Pokemon Center. "C'mon, Cyndaquil. I think we better stop at the Pokemon Center first. Y'know to get you checked out and register for the league." he told his Cyndaquil who simply let out a squeak of "Cynda!" He wasn't alone though and soon he would run into other trainers along the road.

Heather looked around the route. She had been told that this would be an easy route to travel but she didn’t really know the way across it. She reached into her bag and pulled out a red and white ball. She tossed the ball into the air and watched as it released her small ice type. Her Snorunt that she had nick named Belle appeared and started shaking. The poor thing was always cold even thought it was an ice type. Heather didn’t know if being cold was normal for Snorunts but Belle was always like this.

She had no idea where she was going so she approached someone who was looking at the windmills.

“Excuse me,” Heather said “But do you happen to know how to get though this route?”

"Hm?"

Drew was surprised to hear someone else's voice and turned to face the girl who had spoken to him. "Oh! Yeah, I just came from down that way," he said, pointing down the path towards Cherrygrove. "I'm actually on my way to the Professor's Lab in New Bark Town right now. If you want to wait for me, I'd be happy to help you down that way."

Drew smiled and let out a friendly chuckle as his selfless nature got the best of him again. Rex approached the the Snorunt curiously and poked it with his paw. "You're a funny-looking Pokemon..." the Riolu said quietly.

“I can come with you to New Bark Town,” Heather said looking around the route. ”I don’t mind walking and look! I think our Pokemon are becoming friends!” She glanced down towards the Riolu and Snorunt who seemed to be talking in the weird Pokémon way that only Pokemon could understand. She had always wanted to understand what her Pokémon were saying.

“You’re the funny looking one to me,” Belle said as she eyed Rex “How does that little fur keep you warm?” She then tried to grab some of Rex’s fur to see if it would make her fell warm.

"Alright, I don't mind either. I'm Drew Hale." The boy extended his hand for Heather to shake.

"I don't need fur! I don't like the cold. I'm a fighting-type!" Rex cheered proudly. He jumped back a little when Snorunt reached out to grab his fur.

Wraith's ears pricked at the sound of conversation. "I....n't....eed fu....a.....ghtin...ype..!" Desiderata noticed this, and stood up. "Let's see what's going on, Wraith." she nudged the Disaster Pokemon, before following the noise with her trusty partner following at her side.

"And this is why we travel early," A woman with medium length classic blonde hair with a tinge of red, thought to herself as she looked around to edge of Route 29 that in a few steps would lead to New Bark Town.

"So according to like the PokeGear mumbo jumbo, I am supposed to register at the Pokemon Center but it seems far too early for that or I can't be bothered," Camille thought as she could see the disappearing New Bark Town on the horizon.

Camille Bernard stood at 5'10" and had a figure of a model, well she did look like one with her physique. She was fit and came all the way from Unova which meant that she had a long of miles to cover before reaching where she was now.The weather was pretty cold which was why the teenager was wearing a grey cardigan over a black tee and leggings along with white runners that had a touch of red on them.

Camille started to make her way from that famed town of windmills and Elm to the town of Cherrygrove. "The joyous wonder of a town that is as fun as a sleeping Voltorb," She muttered sarcastically as she sighed and made her way.

Ty had started to chase after Tubs, who was following the scent of another Pokemon. The pig-like Pokemon ran straight up to a boy with a Cyndaquil on his shoulder and started to smell his shoes. "Sorry about that." said Ty as he pulled Tubs off of the boy.

As Alex was walking along Route 29 with hsi Cyndaquil, suddenly a fuzzy brown pig like-mon began sniffing at his shows. "Whoa! WH-What the..." he gasped out in surprise, the Swinub even earning a reaction of surprise from his Cyndaquil. Alex hoped it wasn't aggressive, though soon he had confirmation that it was owned by someone. Alex was now standing in front of a boy around his age, slightly older. "Oh errr that's okay haha. I'm just glad this wasn't anything like a sneak attack or anything." he responded to the boy with soft chuckle.

"Tubs is just a curious little Pokemon." said Ty laughing. "Anyway, where are you off to? I'm headed to Cherrygrove City to register at the Pokemon Center."

Desiderata arrived with the numerous other people and their Pokemon. Wraith bristled at the presence of the fighting type Riolu, his crimson eyes narrowing with apprehension. Desiderata was incredibly tall, standing at 6'9", her dark red hair reaching doown to the middle of her back. Her amethyst gaze met those of the other Trainers', her eyes holding slight confusion and a little anxiety. People were definitely not her strength.

Alex chuckled a bit. So it was just a curious Pokemon in the end and it was just curious about him. "Oh! Ohhh I see! I see what you're saying hahaha." he laughed as he took another look at the Swinub. He nodded at his question. "Yep! That's where I'm going! I was gonan stop by and register for the Pokemon League. I'm gonna beat all the gyms and shoot for number one in the league!" he said, raising his fist in the air.

Alex's Cyndaquil kept a close watch on the Swinub, curious about the little thing. The Cyndaquil had a rather laid back personality, though he seemed to keep a watch on others before he truly felt comfortable.

"The names Alex by the way!" he introduced himself, holding out his hand.

"I wonder if they have stock of Pokeballs, they always seem to not have any for some reason when you first start off. It's like how do you even grow as a person and all that stuff when you can't catch more. Weird," Camille thought to herself as s eh waltzed her way towards Cherrygrove City. She remembered the route pretty well as she took it before and that she had a map which is always handy.

The blondish-reddish hair teen walked and walked to at least register to be going for the Pokemon Contest circuit. She would give it a go because it did beat doing nothing at home and it was travelling and to Camille, traveling was fun to do random stuff. "It so does seem like no one is here," She said softly to herself as she pushed a bit of her hair away from her eyes.

OOC: So everyone is leaving New Bark Town to go to Cherrygrove? I had my character going to see Professor Elm to get a Pokedex, so I'm a little confused. :p

Drew was notably taken back by the height of the girl who had just arrived. Looking into her amethyst eyes, he felt a little uncomfortable. "Hey," he managed to say, suddenly a little embarrassed of his own height, being significantly short for his age. Rex met the gaze of the approaching Absol. He let out a soft warning growl.

OOC: I figured we would all meet up at the Pokemon Center in Cherrygrove CIty, although we can also meet at the lab in New Bark. I'm open to whatever you guys would like to do.

"My name is Ty. I'm also shooting for the top of the Pokemon League." he said firmly shaking Alex's hand. He released Swinub from his arms and the small Pokemon sat at Ty's feet. "I should probably get going soon. I can keep you company until we get there if you'd like."
