Well, I made this thread to ask the players with Early Opening Stores for Mario Galaxy...and the ones who got it, to see what there impression of the game is so far. Its like, a survey so to speak...but anyone can put there review, or ask questions for the game.

And as a random word, Ill be getting my copy of Mario Galaxy possibly today, and if I dont...definatley Tuesday

Can anyone slap me to make sure I'm not sleeping, cause apparently Jesus Game 2 is out today.
Seriously though, spoiled so much for myself, but don't give a rat's ass. The spoiling's good, and hell I have to way for July to get it, cause of exams.

Not sure if thats sarcasim or something else....but whatever.

An Honest Gamer Confession: I still have to beat Mario Galaxy 1. I think I'm on the 2nd or 3rd world (lol), so it's really bad for me! I really do want to get this though, if only to try Yoshi and use the new powers, but I'm going to wait until I at least beat the first game the first time. My backlog is huge anyways...

I'm just not sure how much I'm into Mario 3D Platformers, as I really loved the first level and how the planets make a complicated gravity maze, but when I got to the larger planets that played like a more traditional 3D mario game I got turned off a bit. (I think I just played Mario 64 a little too much and got sick of it because I was similar with Sunshine, really enjoyed the water puzzle elements, but not the typical jumping puzzles)

I think I also would have probably preferred a better (/another) flying power. Like a Rocket-man Mario, give him the flight cap like flight, modified with the space physics and scifi design, and maybe let him do a crashing headbutt attack. Then something cool like a Wizard Mario that can animate objects to use as platforms or change enemies into other things (or maybe just shoot them with star pieces instead, maybe make the power use the star pieces all together) to make some cool puzzles. Then the return of my all time favorite, tanooki suit, but maybe with limited gliding flight this time and Statue based puzzles (like Metal Mario but playing on the temporary aspects)

I first got into Mario for the crazy and rare powers anyways (when I was a little kid), so that's where my Mario interest stems from.

I'm serious.

I have 20 stars, and its a real bitch. You're lucky that you're still only 20-30 stars in.

Eh its not that big, its actually still smaller then SM64 levels, in some cases. You have to trudge on through it and let the magic happen I say. If not, just go to wiisave's and download a file that has all the stars, I did that.

Nah the flying was perfect, and honestly uselless outside the observatory.

I have a wii. And have never played Galaxy 1. Im a disgrace.

Well I like how Mario can ride on Yoshi like in Super Mario World...I hope Yoshi appears many times because I love that little green dinosaur

Not very far in yet, but it's proving to be an enjoyable experience. Feels even more polished than the original, although I would have thought it to be impossible.

I have it, and I'm on the last world. And well, I'm going to give you people with the games a word of advice. Get ALL hidden star that you can. And those "Coin" Lumas? I thought they were a scam as I was accustomed to the normal Star Bits Lumas, and well, those were the keys to the hidden stars :p And I gotta say I'm loving the Starship Mario design. Although, I don't really like that its decentralized around the plot and centralized around the gameplay. And finally, Galaxy 1 was a cakewalk compared to this thing ; - ;

There's none of that superfluous manta ray crap, right?

God, I remember that level from Galaxy 1. I think it's one of only ten or so levels I still haven't beaten yet, and I'll probably win the lottery before I beat it. :(

I have played up to the first battle with Bowser, and I love the game so far. I can tell the difficultly is ramped up, and I am only about 20 stars into the game.

...still waitin for summer creak but I've got 26 stars now (wonder how the green one gets unlocked)

Manta Ray, you mean the Ray Surfing thing? or am I thinking of something else....

Anyways, I absolutley am loving Mario Galaxy 2, but I am a little dissapointed for the fact that there isnt much refrence from the first game, although (SPOILER, DO NOT CLICK IF YOU HAVENT BEAT MARIO GALAXY 1....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)
In the ending, I believe Mario woke up and it was all like a dream to him. Especially sense the Luma that hangs out under Mario's hat doesnt remember him in the second game.
The only thing that has been a refrence to Mario Galaxy 1 is that the luma who stays under mario's hat gets letters from is assumed to be rosalina, since you can hear her laugh in the background when the letter is opened, the Toad Brigade, and the Trash Bot in the boulder bowl galaxy.....but other than that, great game so far.

Got it two days ago and reached World 3 today.

I absolutely love the marriage between 2D and 3D gameplay in this game. This kind of gameplay was also featured in Galaxy 1 but it seems much more refined this time around and a lot more commonplace. I'd complain about the linearity of many stages but they're just too much fun to complain about.

The music is just as memorable as ever. You wouldn't believe the fangasm i had when reaching the boss for World 2 and hearing an orchestrated version of Bowser's Road. A real one, with vocals.

I remember hearing the roulette music from Super Mario World when having to get the music notes on a certain time limit and I gasped (also along with a tome from Super Mario 64 I forget the location)

I just beat it and the cinematics were simply superb. The ending boss fight was easy, heck, getting to him was harder! And like I said before I dislike that its less focused on the storyline. Now for some spoilered rant stuff.

WARNING, IF YOU HAVEN'T BEAT THE GAME DO NOT READ.
At the end, Rosalina comes in but, its almost like Galazy 1 didn't exist. She doesn't really acknowledge Mario that much other than thanks and knowing his name, and she introduces herself formally and everything so, its kinda like "WTF, WE JUST DID THIS LIKE LAST YEAR." And, it appears that there is a world AFTER the end that is unlocked.

I've only played the first two levels, but from what I've seen it's awesome.
