EDIT : See later down. Either this is a very elaborate hoax involving lots of people, or else all of it really is true.

Including the bad news, namely a 07 release :(.

Well, damn.

Gamespot has it, Joystiq has it. Super Smash Bros : Brawl is confirmed, and so's Snake as a playable character.

The conference stated "maybe" in answer to the question of other third party character being included. (Specifically : "There are probably possibilities for other third parties as well, and it maybe that even know there are corporate discussions going on about including some of these other characters." - Shigeru Miyamoto)
 
Dang. Pit, Meta Knight, Wario, and a suitless Samus also confirmed.

But Snake blows my mind. Did you see the pics of that video--Otacon inviting him, and Snake ending up being in a cardboard box in the middle of the field?

That box better be his shield...

I have some confusion over the controls. Some people are saying it doesn't allow the wand controller, some people say it does. Which one? (Some people say Gamecube controllers too.)

I actually don't like the idea of non-Nintendo characters forcing themselves into a game that's meant to be a celebration of all things Ninty. But i'm sure it'll still be executed well so no matter how daft the idea of playing as Snake in a fighting game is, it's not likely to be any less daft than the idea of a Nintendog pawing the screen of your TV to piss you off.

Edit: Lol, notice how the start of the trailer has Mario, Link, Pikachu and Kirby all upgrading to their new models and Kirby is EXACTLY the same?

I was expecting this game to be one of the final things Nintendo unveiled at E3. I am not too surprised to hear that Snake is in it, considering how closely with Nintendo Hideo Kojima was working on the The Twin Snakes remake. And possibility of other third-party characters in it only sweetens the pot.

I wanted a playable version at E3, curses. Please, don't let '07 mean Fall of '07.

o.o I'm excited about Metaknight actually, as Eric's his English voice in that Kirby show. Oh god, if he gets to voice Metaknight in this game's English release..... *dribbles at the thought*

And there's still sooo many other must have titles, Nintendo
is just oozing with greatness and win right now.

Nintendo has me sold 10 times over!! ^_^

And I think that if we should seriously push for any Pokémon to become playable - and that's a pretty big if, admittedly, given the four playable already - it should be Meowth. They've had Pikachu and Jigglypuff since the original, so adding Meowth would be covering the three biggest individual Pokémon in the anime. And personally, I'd love to play a Pokémon with some sort of slashing moves. And admit it - every time you see someone vanish with a little 'Bing!' in the background, you think of Team Rocket, too.

The only other Pokémon I think really ought to appear in the Smash series is Sandslash, but I sadly accept that fact that I'm probably the only one who feels that way.
 
Oh please. Munchlax is GOING to be in this game.

Seriously, it'd be nigh-on impossible for him not to squirm his way in.
 
All the more reason to not even consider pushing for him to appear in it. =P

I just hope that this game will be as good as it's hyped up to be. N64 Smash Bro was great, and then Melee came and gave it a complete boost, with an amazing soudtrack, beautiful backrounds, a complete remodeling of the past clunky characers, mini games, adventures, tournaments, trophies (etc....). It sure as hell with be tough to beat. I really hope they were creative with this puppy. It sure looks like they were tweaking the hell out of it.

Ooh, and I hope Mewtwo and Bowser stay in the game. Bowser was my right hand man, and ....I'm still not good with Mewtwo, but it's fun hearing him get beat and blasting off the stage.


It's times like this that really make me want to buy my own GameCube, but it's cheaper to mooch off my nephews..
