Just passing this along

I saved near a cab in Lumiose City and now whenever I try to restart my game it immediately freeezes. It loads my trainer and all of my clothes as well as the buildings and their lighting effects, but none of the objects in the streets or the textures on the buildings show up.

Pokémon-Amie is also frozen on my bottom-screen without loading anything and the game won't return to the Home menu when I push my button. I can hard-shutoff, but the 3DS internal software is completely frozen.

The only evidence I can find that anyone's had similar trouble is a single YouTube video uploaded by someone who speaks some Asian language.

Pokemon X and Y freezes every time at loading ポケモンXYフリーズ - YouTube

Anyways, I'm posting this both in hopes of informing everyone else playing the game, and in hopes of finding a fix that doesn't involve deleting my save.

It's probably a shot in the dark, but if anyone knows how to fix this, could you please tell me? I really don't want to start a new save file since I'm just past Clemont and only just managed to get my entire team to their final evolutions!

Evidently a few people in the Youtube comments have experienced this....I wonder how many have told Nintendo about the issue.

Some people in the GameFAQs thread had found a solution to the problem, but still I hope this is the last game-breaking glitch in this game and it should be fixed ASAP.

For reference, the solution is to remove the SD card from the 3DS and then load the game. No idea if it works, since I haven't experienced this and don't want to, and apparently no one who said they had it has bothered to try.

Which begs the question, if no one tried, how do we know that's the solution? I've seen people say they just pressed the home button which forced the game to keep trying to load at Lumiose.

Wonder if anyone notified Nintendo?

I heard this was only in the digital versions of the game, so it may not be a problem for people who have physical copies of the game (like me), though I haven't checked, and I really don't want to risk checking, even if things like Missingno have fascinated me in the past.

Some people are saying it's caused by the blackout scenario somehow, and if you come back after fixing the power plant it's safe. ... No, wait, someone got it after beating the Lumiose gym. Never mind.

Here we go.

It's the phisical copies as well. Just saw this video from Nerd3 proving that: PSA - Game Breaking Bug in Pokémon X and Y - YouTube

Another glitch I noticed (though not game breaking) is that you can sometimes get stuck in the static NPCs in Lumiose, especially when rollerskating.

Happened to me a minute ago, I almost cried ;-;
Thankfully viewing my Pokemon then exiting let me go.

My hubby sent me a message about this problem about two and a half hours ago. Okay, now I'm thinking I don't ever want to save in Lumiose, ever. Seriously, with all that I've done in the game, were I to lose it...

I'm hoping that these players--or at least some other who experienced this--let Nintendo know about it. Hopefully, they'll be able to patch this but until then I'll save my game elsewhere.

Nintendo has been notified, someone on reddit told'em. I'm lucky, neither my X or Y had this bug, so I'm still going to be wary from now on.

I wonder if it has a lot to do with how graphic intensive the city is.

The people I've talked to said it had to do with the traffic attempting to occupy the same space as their character model. This is why hardly anyone drives in the Pokemon world! It will lock you into another dimension!

Nintendo have issued a press release about the Lumiose City save bug, where the game can glitch out if you save in the boulevards of Lumiose City. They issued a map of where not to save, indicated by the blue gradient, and have stated that they are working on a fix and recommend saving in the buildings of Lumiose City if you have to save in the city at all
