Huh? As far as I know movie 13 hasn't been dubbed yet, or am I wrong?

But yeah it's true the Japanese anime does have swearing sometimes, unlike the english dub. I mean just saying "what the..." isn't swearing imo.

That's the problem. You're watching fansubs. They're notorious for being very liberal with their translations.

Thing is that there's not really "swearing" as we recognize it in Japanese. There's just "really really rude" language.

Now, there IS some swearing in Pokemon. Remember Surge's "GOD DAMN!" in the Japanese version? Notable because he said it in English.

I remember James once calling J a "Hunter Hussy", if it counts.

Stop making believe the Japanese version is hardcore and the dub is severely watered down. It isn't.

Fansubs suck. I always wait for the real ones to watch shows like Naruto because the fansubs are irritatingly off.
I hear "shimatta" and most often think of it as an "oh no!", which technically it is.

No getting around "goddamn" from Surge, but it's in English. Most kids in Japan (Pokémon IS a kid's show after all) more than likely don't know what he said. (Some of the writers probably didn't fully grasp it either.) Besides, didn't the manga (any of the Poké-comics) have worse?

True. In the dub, Ash almost always says "what the..." nowadays. Obviously, he doesn't say anything after that, but he does say "what the..."

Not swearing. It does make me laugh, however.

I saw a pretty good fansub of a different series recently where they translated it based on situation, so it was anything from "oh no!" to "shiiiiiiiit!"

Yeah, in Special, Surge goes "SHIT!" Also written out.

Also I seem to recall that Digimon Frontier got away with having JP say "This sucks!" and that aired on Disney XD.

"Boob" is slang for idiot. "Boob tube" means the TV

And so do official subs like Dragon Ball, which actually did throw the word "shit" around (season four box), even from Goku.
But on a kid's show like Pokémon, it's not meant to be as serious. Not likely.

English is used as a design element in Japanese products and advertising to give them a modern look and feel (or just to “look cool”). There is often no attempt to try to get it right, nor do the vast majority of the Japanese population (= consumers) ever attempt to read the English design element in question.
Second, the above, from a site that posts failed attempts at English (Engrish) from Japan and elsewhere. English there is like French over here: we might not fully understand it (might not at all), but it sounds cool either way.

Third, in the show Johnny Test Dukey once said "Growing up sucks", and it got past the radar.

That is all.
