TAINTED HALLOWEEN CANDY

Geez, a 17 minute rant against unsubstantiateed charges. The FDA is corrupt and all Chinese dairy imports are contaminated! Your kids are all going to die horrible deaths from eating Halloween candy!

I'm in the mood to move this thread into HoS, but I'll leave it alone for now.

Wow! The news fearmongering about tainted candy around Halloween! I've never seen THAT before EVER!

Yeah, probably just do what you always do, Check your brother's/sister's candy/ have your parents check your brother's/sister's candy and be done with it... Or you can just not have them trick or treat at all, it really doesn't matter. (honestly)

The warning about possibly tainted candy is fine.

The conspiracy theories... not so much?

I've heard that in all cases of poisoned candy, the assailant was a relative.
We have met the enemy, and he is us.

Yeah, I heard about the melamine stuff....I'm glad I'm feeling myself to be too old for trick or treating.....don't ask.

And in the cases of "additives" such as blades (and seriously, has that ever happened in any real numbers?), most hospitals offer candy xrays (although I can't imagine they'd find enough to justify it).

did anyone besides me and fe 6x watch the entire video

Sharp objects were found in Halloween candy given by strangers about 10 times in the US since 1959, so no - not in any real numbers. And even then, it never resulted in anything worse than minor cuts. And no records of Halloween candy being poisoned, period

Nope, and I'm sorry I didn't (and still didn't), but really, like Zeta said, this does happen every year... you kind of tune it out...

For once, I wouldn't even complain about it :p

Seriously, yes, there is always a threat with candies and you should check them. That doesn't make a seventeen minute video - let alone a conspiracy theory one - anything less than MASSIVE overkill.

After seeing the posts, I decided to stay clear of the video. Apparently I made the right choice.
The only two cases I've heard about metal in munchies were a box cutter blade found in one shipping of Pokémon Valentine's Day candy and a couple of staples in another shipping of the same snack.
Other than that, nothing bad.
