Chapter 1-THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!

He was awoken by the sound of waves crashing softly against the shore. Sitting up slowly, he checked his watch and saw the time. He rose from his bed and pulled on some jeans and a T-Shirt before grabbing his yellow radio headphones and backpack. He yawned and went to the restroom and began his morning routine of brushing, deodorizing, and combing. Once completed, he clomped down the stairs and sat at the breakfast table and poured himself a bowl of cereal. As he ate it, he noticed the lack of other people.

"Mom? Dad?"

Suddenly, there was an explosion of noise and crepe paper behind him and he saw his family waving little flags and wearing silly hats.

"What in the?"

They rushed over, scooped him up, and began marching out the door while someone banged absentmindedly on a snare drum.

"XAVIER, XAVIER, HE'S OUR MAN, IF HE CAN'T CATCH 'EM, NO ONE CAN!"

He rolled his eyes and let them carry him to Doctor Catalpa's house. The crowd parted and he dropped to the ground.

"Thanks for the uh...spectacular sendoff..."

He turned to enter the house and was spun around by his mother, who lifted him up and hugged him.

"My little boy heading off on an adventure..."

She exploded into tears, sobs shaking her body. His father stepped forward.

"Son, I'm proud of you. Now do us right, okay? Make the people of Seaspray Town proud..."

His father stared off into the distance, nodding slightly.

"Okay, pops..."

The audience applauded as he entered the house. He stared around the open, airy living room and whistled.

"Xavier?"

A hollow voice emanated from the eastern wing of the house, and Xavier spun on his heel.

"Uh, yeah?"

"It's me, Doctor Catalpa. I assume you're here for a starter."

"Well, yeah, I mean, if it isn't too much trouble..."

An old man hobbled out from the shadows, placing much of his weight on a cane.

"Which one do you want?"

"Well what is there?"

He hobbled towards a table, the cane thumping the floor as he moved.

"Here."

On a simple wooden table lay a row of 12 PokeBalls, each one containing either a grass, water, or fire type starter. Xavier examined them carefully. Eventually, his eyes came to rest upon one of the balls towards the end of the table. Inside was a bright orange chimp with a flaming tail.

"This one."

Catalpa looked at it, his salt and pepper eyebrow cocking slightly.

"Chimchar, huh? He's yours."

"Really?"

Xavier looked at the Pokemon inside the Pokeball, a large grin spreading across his face as he did so.

"Yep. Now. Get outta here."

Xavier jumped excitedly.

"Thank you so much! Yes! Thank you!"

The old man grumbled and began to walk away.

"Aw, whatever."

Looking at the ball one last time, he clipped it onto his belt and trotted out the door, where, once again, the massive crowd had gathered.

"Which starter did you choose, Xavier?"

"Was it a fire type? It had better have been a fire type!"

"Naw, you goof, water is clearly the best!"

"Aw shaddup!"

They cheered and played the single drum for him and lifted him above their heads and carried him some more.

"XAVIER, XAVIER, HE'S OUR MAN!"

They got to his house and let him down before dispersing to their respective homes. He stood outside his, clutching the Pokeball.

"Alright, buddy, let's get you outta there..."

He pressed the button and a beam of red light swirled around on the sandy ground before a small chimp-like being materialized. Xavier squatted down to eye-level with the Pokemon.

"So you're a Chimchar, huh? Hm. What attacks do you know?"

Behind Chimchar was a Wurmple slowly sliding across the ground.

"Alright, Chimchar. Use your basic attack on that Wurmple!"

Chimchar loped along the ground, jumped at the bug type, and slashed his claws through the air across Wurmple's soft body. It rolled over and was apparently knocked out.

"Great job!"

He patted his new Pokemon and returned him. Standing slowly, he headed inside.

"Alright mom. I'm going."

His mother burst into the room and hugged him fiercely, forcing the air out of him.

"Oh...my baby...my little baby...."

He wriggled out of her arms enough to breath.

"Mom, mom...I'm gonna be fine, okay. Don't you worry."

She released him and wiped her tears away with her hand.

"Promise you'll write every single day and keep us updated on your adventures, okay?"

"Sure mom, sure."

She handed him a thousand PokeDollars as a parting gift.

"Here. Take this. You'll need it down the line."

"Mom...you shouldn't have...this is too much, I-"

She cut him off with a wave of her hand.

"No. I won't have any of that. Now go before I decide to change my mind on letting you leave."

He turned and looked at her before exiting the house. He headed to the West for Route 1. He released Chimchar who happily plodded along beside him. Then he noticed something peculiar. A force of police cars and officers around the entrance to Route 1. He approached one of the officers slowly.

"Um. What's happened?"

The officer looked at him.

"Floodgate City's just been hit by a massive flood. All travel to and from has been cut off. It's gonna take awhile for them to clean up, and until they do, the area is not safe for civilians such as yourself. Got it?"

"Yes sir."

Xavier turned, disheartened, before he realized that Route 6 was open.

"Alright...hey! I don't have a name for you! How about...Prometheus. That's a good fire name."

Chimchar smiled and growled happily as they set off for the first leg of their adventure.

Part 2-ENTER THE RIVAL!

Xavier strolled through the grassy field, his new Pokemon beside him. As he walked, someone began running towards, him, edging ever closer, the sound of the nearby sea making him nearly impossible to hear as he approached. One nasty slip in the mud later, and he was crashing into Xavier, knocking him over, the two rolling in the grass.

"Get the hell offa me!"

Xavier kicked and punched before the person edged away.

"Jeezus, kid. Doctor Catalpa wanted me to give you this. I'm Steve, by the way, Doctor Catalpa's assistant. It's a Pokedex with an integrated map feature."

Xavier took the small red electronic device and flipped open the cover over its screen.

"Hm. Only one entry. For Chimchar. So I gotta catch 'em to get their info?"

Steve straightened his lab coat and nodded.

"Yeah, if you encounter one, however, it'll record the name, but nothing else."

Xavier closed it and slid it into his pocket. Steve spoke up.

"Oh, and you might want to get ready. Some other kid who got a Pokemon from Catalpa is running here. Wants to battle you, I think. If I'm correct, he chose a Totodile, so be careful. He has a type advantage over you."

"Thanks for everythin-"

Xavier was cut off by a kid his age bursting out of the brush into the grass. He was clad in jeans and a T-Shirt and carried only a backpack instead of all the "necessities" that Xavier had.

"YOU! Let's battle! Totodile, I choose you!"

He pressed the button, his Pokemon emerging in a bright red flash of light. Steve hung back, leaning on a large, docile Tropius.

"This should be interesting..."

He watched as Xavier exhaled slowly, calming himself.

"Alright, Chimchar, I choose you!"

The two Pokemon circled each other warily, prepared to attack.

"Scratch!"

"Scratch!"

The two trainers cried in perfect unison, although Chimchar's superior speed allowed him to strike first, knocking the small blue Totodile back. He rolled, slid to a stop, and hopped back onto his two hind legs. Now, he charged forward and jumped into the air, raking his claws across Chimchar as he landed. The small fire type spun, caught himself, and stared Totodile down.

"Alright, Prometheus, use Leer!"

His Chimchar squinted his eyes and gave the water type a disgusted look, causing it to take offense. He rushed forward and jumped again, slashing his claws as he descended, but this time, Chimchar ducked and rolled, avoiding the attack.

"Great, use Leer one more time!"

Chimchar glared at his foe once more, and again Totodile rushed forward, paying less and less attention to his surroundings and more and more on knocking that Fire type senseless. He slashed again, only instead of horizontally, he slashed with an uppercut. This time the claws connected with Chimchar, who was picked up off his feet and tossed a few feet away. Standing slowly, he looked at his enemy.

"Heh, looks like your Chimchar is just about through! Use Scratch one more time, Heraldo!"

"Scratch, Prometheus! This is it!"

Chimchar rushed forward and attacked Totodile with every fiber of his being. The claws connected with Totodile's torso, causing him to fall. The Leer had dropped his defenses so low he couldn't handle the attack.

"Wha-? Heraldo! Get up! Scratch! Scratch!"

The small Pokemon lay on the ground, motionless.

"H-Heraldo?"

He returned him to his Pokeball and plodded off towards Seaspray Town's Pokecenter. Xavier ran towards him.

"Hey, I don't think I caught your name."
The other boy looked up and spoke softly.

"It's Al. Aloysius, actually, but I go by Al."

Xavier nodded.

"Headed to the Pokecenter?"

"Yeah. You knocked out my Pokemon."

"Yeah. Mine took a beating too. I gotta heal him."

The two walked in silence the rest of the way, and after 5 or so minutes, Seaspray Town was before them. The town's Pokecenter was not exactly run down, just well used. They entered and approached the pink haired Nurse Joy.

"Hello, boys! Would you like me to heal your Pokemon?"

"Yes, please."

Xavier placed his single Pokeball on the counter, Al doing the same.

"It'll be a few minutes. Is there anything else I can do for you?"

Al simply stood there, quiet and sullen. Xavier looked at him and stammered uncertainly.

"I, uh, no. No, thank you. We're fine."

He strolled over to a chair and sat down, while Al simply leaned against the counter. After a few minutes, Nurse Joy piped up.

"Alright, your Pokemon are in perfect health! Come back any time!"

She handed them their Pokeballs and they left. Something about having his Pokemon must have reinvigorated Al, because he dashed off towards Route 6. Xavier shrugged.

"Different strokes for different folks, I suppose."

And then, he too trudged off towards Route 6. The waist high grass rolled in the wind, looking not dissimilar to the sea that it was located near. Xavier walked through slowly, keeping his eye out for wild Pokemon. Suddenly, a Pidgey burst out of the foliage and headed straight for him. Xavier immediately released Prometheus who jumped into the air and grabbed the small Flying type's body and pulled it down with him. The two rolled about on the ground for a tense moment.

"Scratch!"

Chimchar slashed at the Pidgey, who absorbed the full force of the attack and flopped backwards. Rolling over, it stood warily, swaying slightly. Charging forward, it went in to tackle Chimchar, who jumped aside and evaded the attack.

"Great! Now-"

He was cut off by the Pidgey whacking itself in the face with its wing.

"He must be confused..."

Xavier removed one of the complimentary Pokeballs Catalpa had given him and threw it, its red light surrounding the Pidgey before engulfing it. The small sphere lay on the ground, wiggling slightly before a seal was made, ensuring the catch of the once wild Pokemon. Xavier grabbed the Pokeball and sprinted to the Pokecenter to heal his new Pokemon. It was healed and he was finally able to truly begin his journey across the region of Turlego. As he walked towards Igneous Town, he placed the headphones over his ears and turned them to his favorite radio station.

"YOU GOT THE TOUCH..."

The sun began to dip below the horizon, turning the ocean a rich red color.

"YOU GOT THE POWER..."

He looked at it one last time and inhaled the salty air and smiled softly.

"WHEN ALL HELL'S BREAKING LOOSE, YOU'LL BE RIGHT AT THE EYE OF THE STORM..."

Then, he turned and walked towards Turlego's interior, ready for anything.

What? Oh, the Touch thing?

YES. The Touch will always be reserved for Transformers.

it would be nice if you could link to the thread with the region in it on the first post.

Part 3-VS. CARNIVINE!
Xavier climbed into the upper limbs off the tree, his Chimchar swinging happily along beside him.

"Hm. I hope this works."

He zipped open his bag and removed another bag from it. Undoing the second bag's drawstring, he removed a massive hammock and attached straps on one end to a branch in the tree. He jumped across to another branch and strapped the other end to the tree as well.

"Alright, buddy. Time for bed."

With a flash of red light, Prometheus was absorbed into the Pokeball and attached to Xavier's belt, which was stuffed into the backpack. At last, Xavier lowered himself into the hammock and pulled another series of straps across his body, securing himself in his hammock. Lastly, he set his backpack in a small hole of the trunk before drifting off to sleep, quite comfortable in his hammock suspended some fifty feet off the ground.

A trio of drab green jeeps rolled through the jungle. They arrived at a large rock formation and screeched to a halt. Several men armed with assault rifles hopped out, followed by a few men in smart business suits. The men in the suits approached the rock formation. One removed a pickaxe from the back of one of the jeeps and strode towards the rock, the head of the pickaxe dragging in the dirt.

"Observe."

The other suits looked on as he lifted it above his head and swung it at the rock, a few fist sized chunks rolling off into the dirt. The two other suits stooped over and picked them up.

"Hm. Rock. What's so special about it?"

The man with the pickaxe addressed one of the men with a gun.

"Jonathan, could you hand me your Eevees?"

The soldier complied and tossed two Pokeballs to the man. He released the small Pokemon and dropped two of the chunks of rock at their feet. Instantly, they began to melt and rearrange themselves into a Flareon and a Jolteon. The two suits stared in amazement.

"It basically serves as whatever kind of stone you need. We could call it the Omnistone. Eevee's can now choose what they become. It'll make a mint."

The three men in suits looked at the massive rock formation, attempting to determine its nature, and what gave it its spectacular powers. Loupes were produced from breast pockets and they leaned over the rock, muttering in low voices about something or other. Jonathan walked towards another soldier and began talking.

"Shee-it...bug types freak me out..."

The other soldier shrugged.

"Eh. This baby gives me courage."

He patted his M4 and whipped out a pack of cigarettes and offered one to Jonathan.

"I'm good."

He walked away, slowly inspecting the perimeter they'd formed. Suddenly, an Ariados emerged from the foliage.

"Ahem. Gentlemen."

The suits and soldier spun in the direction of the voice. It had come from a man standing in the shadows. All they could see was the outline of his slim figure and wild hair.

"I'm afraid I must ask you to leave the premise. Now."

One of the suits stepped forward, clearing his throat.

"And just what gives you jurisdiction here? Why should we listen to you."

The man chuckled menacingly.

"You shouldn't. Listen to my friend Ariados here. Ariados? Could you perform a Pin Missile attack, please?"

The massive Bug type complied and shot a stream of viciously sharp projectiles through the air. The men dove for cover, the sharp projectiles whirring through the air around them. One was not so lucky and had caught a missile in the throat. He fell over, gurgling, as the blood began to pool around him.

"Now. I will ask once more. Leave, or you shall share the fate of your friend."

He looked at the man's body, its limbs twitching slightly. One of the suits stood.

"Screw you, buddy. Go, Growlithe, and use Flame Wheel!"

The small Growlithe complied, a ball of fire forming around him. He rolled towards Ariados, who jumped, the Growlithe rolling under it into a tree.

"Ariados, Pin Missile on the humans again."

It released another violent flurry of missiles at the men, hitting several of them. Now only one suit and one soldier remained.

"Growlithe, return!"

The suit took his Pokemon back and ran off into the jungle, causing the Ariados to begin to give chase.

"No, friend, let him survive to tell his friends about us. As for the soldier..."

He looked at the soldier and laughed.

"W-what're you gonna do with me?"

"Oh. I'm not going to do anything, but Ariados's mate just had several baby Spinarak. They've gotta eat something."

The soldier's screams echoed across the jungle before suddenly stopping.

Xavier's eyes slid open, the cool morning air filling his lungs. He slowly and carefully removed himself from his hammock and packed it in his backpack before removing his Pokemon and three granola bars. The Pokemon simply looked at them.

"Dig in."

He spoke groggily, as he was not entirely awake. He too consumed his granola bar and began clambering down the tree. Consulting his Pokedex, he checked their location and the time.

"Alright, guys. We're about to Igneous Town and the first gym of Turlego. Unfortunately, you guys aren't very effective against rock, so we need to catch another Pokemon that can do some damage against rock."

Looking at his Dex, he saw that several grass types were available on Route Six, most notably Oddish, Bellsprout, Tangela, and allegedly, one trainer had seen a Carnivine. There were also large herds of Tropius, but these were way higher leveled than Xavier could handle. He walked slowly, and suddenly, up from the ground sprung a massive plant with a huge gaping mouth.

"Carnivine, go, Prometheus!"

The Chimchar tumbled out of his Pokeball and used Scratch out of instinct.

"Good job! Now go Pidgey!"

The flying type zoomed about the large Plant type.

"Use your Gust attack!"

The Pidgey fluttered around behind Carnivine and flapped its small wings, producing a blast of air that slammed into Carnivine, knocking it nearly senseless. Xavier threw another Pokeball at it, and after it rolled about on the ground for a moment, the seal was made and he had his third Pokemon.

"Go team!"

He went to return Chimchar, who suddenly shot a small jet of flame from his hands.

"Chimchar, you learned Ember, awesome!"

He returned him and continued towards Igneous Town. Then he saw Al.

"Hey, Al!"

He looked up suddenly.

"Oh, hey, Xavier..."

Xavier approached and set down his backpack.

"How've you been?"

"Good I guess. Ready for my first Gym badge."

"Aren't we all?"

Al let Totodile out and allowed him to run around, releasing his energy. Xavier placed his backpack under his head and fell asleep. Al looked at him.

Better now than never

Al thought as he slipped away. There was just something about that kid he didn't like. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he knew he didn't like it...

Who is the man with the Ariados? Why did he kill those dudes? When will Al stop being such a little girl about everything? Find out next time on...TALES OF TURLEGO...

Chapter 3 fixed the problem with the paragraph spacing, i would definately eliminate the huge blocks of text, otherwise people (including me) won't read it. I'm interested in reading it when you fix it though.

Re: Tales of Turlego (Feedback EXTREMELY welcome)

Good job. I just read Chapter 3, and its probably my favourite. I can't wait to see Carnivine in battle!

You mean parts 1 and 2, right?

@Azumarill-Glad you liked it.

Re: Tales of Turlego (Feedback EXTREMELY welcome)

Chapter 4-THE NOT-SO-PERFECT STORM!

Above the blue sea surrounding Turlego, a massive bank of clouds formed before being swiftly carried inland by the prevailing winds. Once it had blanketed the small region in clouds, it began raining heavily. Xavier immediately returned Prometheus to his Pokeball and began sprinting through the torrential downpour. As he did so, he failed to notice a large puddle that had formed and tripped and fell. After a quick slide across a large swath of mud, he stood and kept on running.

"Gotta find a good dry spot!"

He ran aimlessly through the grey sheets of water before skidding to a stop. Looking about frantically, he ran on, unsure of what direction he was headed in.
____________________

A tall, slender man in an expensive blue suit walked briskly across the marble floor, his heels clicking sharply on the polished stone. Glancing to his right, he saw the rain lashing at the windows of the skyscraper. A small, husky man sat at a massive desk addressed him.

"Well, Arthur? What's the news?"

The one called Arthur cleared his throat before speaking.

"Well sir, it appears we've lost yet another research party, due to what we belie-"

The husky man growled slowly, the noise rising slowly in his throat, then, he exploded.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE'VE LOST ANOTHER RESEARCH PARTY? I GAVE YOU SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS TO-"

"Sir...sir..."

"OUTFIT THOSE PARTIES WITH ARMED SOLDIERS AND TO ENSURE THAT A RADIO LINK WAS MADE EVERY FIFTEEN MINUTES-"

"Sir, if you would listen we could-"

"FURTHERMORE, I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING FIRING YOU-"

"SIR!"

The sudden yelling from Arthur startled him, and he was immediately silent.

"Yes, Arthur?"

"We followed your instruction to a 'T'. There was a caravan of three jeeps, 2 of which were filled solely with armed guards. We had just made contact with them, and when we called them back, we got only static."

The husky man sat down and mopped at his sweaty brow with the sleeve of his starched white business shirt.

"What now?"

The door to the large office suddenly burst open. A single guard was wrestling with a haggard man.

"Sir, unless you are an assistant to Mr. Nobel, I can't let you pass."

The two struggled for a moment before the haggard one shouted.

"I have very important information for him!"

The husky man sighed.

"Mel, just let him in."

The guard backed off, and the man, dressed in a tattered suit, approached the desk that Nobel and Arthur sat at. Digging into his pockets, he produced a handful of grey rock and scattered it across the table.

"Go, Growlithe."

He released the small fire type, who rolled about playfully on the floor. He picked up a single stone and dropped it on top of Growlithe, the pebble bouncing off his furry head and onto the cool floor. Growlithe shook his head and suddenly began morphing, growing taller, and suddenly, there it was. An Arcanine. Nobel and Arthur sat there, their mouths hanging open in shock. Nobel spoke, his voice small and hoarse.

"What...what was that?"

The haggard man looked up, his eyes narrowed to slits and a grin spreading across his face.

"That was the OmniStone."

He paused for a moment.

"That last research party you lost? It wasn't lost. It was goddamn destroyed. Somebody...somebody massacred us and let me go. Somebody doesn't want you to know about this."

As soon as the words left his mouth, the windows of the office burst in, showering the three men in nearly powdered glass. The storm howled outside, sending rain into the building. Outside, a man on an Altaria stood, arms crossed. The Altaria glided into the room and the man hopped off, clapping derisively.

"Congratulations, you made it back to home base."

He squatted down and looked at the haggard man.

"Clever one, slipping that stone into your pocket while I wasn't looking. I am truly impressed."

He stood and gathered the remaining stones and dropped them into his pocket.

"Hostiles in the building! Repeat! Hostiles in the building! Send reinforcements now!"

Mel burst in and brought his gun to his shoulder. Before he could fire it, however, Altaria swatted him with his tail, sending him flying out the window.

"Jesus! Mel!"

Nobel was standing now, his fists clenched as he looked at the man.

"You sonofabitch!"

Charging, he let out a flurry of punches which Altaria blocked by spreading his massive wings out, their softness absorbing each blow. The man retreated.

"C'mon, you coward...fight me like a man..."

The man stepped out from behind his Pokemon and cracked his knuckles.

"Have it your way."

Charging Nobel, he threw an left hook that connected with Nobel's head, flooring him. Nobel stood slowly, shaking his head in an attempt to clear the dizziness from his head.

"That all you got?"

The man punched him hard in the nose, blood spurting from the wound. Staggering back, Nobel leaned on his desk. Arthur pulled a Pokeball from his pocket and released a Luxray. The Altaria watched the fight intently.

"Heh. Luxray, Discharge."

A massive cloud of electricity surrounded the Pokemon. At its peak, he released it at the Altaria, the powerful attack lifting the Dragon type off its feet. Shrieking in agony, it collapsed to the floor, a few stray sparks still crackling throughout its soft wings. The man spun and saw his friend lying on the ground, obviously in pain.

"You insolent little-"

He was cut off by Nobel jumping onto his back, sending the two sliding across the floor. Nobel hopped onto his chest and began wailing on his face, breaking the man's nose in the process.

"Al-Altaria-"

He coughed blood after calling his Pokemon. A massive downy wing swept throgh the air and slammed into Nobel's back, sending him flying into the opposite, unbroken window. He crashed into it, a spiderweb of cracks appearing around his body. Falling to the floor, he coughed and collapsed. The man stood slowly, wiping the blood from his nose. He quickly clambered onto the Altaria, who spread its wings and took off into the storm. Arthur stood and rushed over to Nobel. Craning his neck, he saw the reinforcements had arrived.

"Get an ambulance, Mr. Nobel just took a pretty severe beating!"

The soldiers ran off down the hallway to a wall phone and hurriedly dialed nine-one-one.
____________________

Xavier shot through the rain, the wind carrying branches of trees, palm fronds, and even the occasional Rattata through the air. Then he saw it. A massive Tropius stood in the storm, its wings unfurled in such a manner to provide a temporary shelter for anyone seeking it. He ran up to it and ducked under.

"Hi there. I'm Joe."

"Steve."

"I'm Xavier. Where are you guys headed?"

A few of the trainers checked maps while others chose to simply respond. Most of them, like he, were headed for Igneous Town.

"So, Xavier. Wanna battle after this storm lets up?"

"Sure!"

Steve chuckled.

"I hope you're ready. My Pokemon are tough!"

Xavier chuckled softly as he began to lay down for a nap. As he closed his eyes, he replied.

"We'll see. We'll see."

And there it is, folks. Chapter 4.

This chapter was interesting. I cant wait for the battle coming up. I hope Carnivine gets a chance to battle!

Re: Tales of Turlego (Feedback EXTREMELY welcome)

Chapter 5-BATTLE OF THE AGES!

The small cluster of trainers sat in the dust under the Tropius's massive wings, the storm outside drumming on them. Steve stood and brushed himself off.

"And...now."

As if on cue, the rain petered out into a soft drizzle. Xavier stood and readied himself. Steve picked up his pack and approached Xavier.

"You ready?"

Popping his neck, Xavier grabbed his backpack and stood.

"Ready and willing."

Steven strode towards the Tropius's wing and rapped a single knuckle on the tough fibrous surface. A small slit opened and Steve stepped out into the soft mist before donning an umbrella hat. Digging through his pack, Xavier produced a small collapsible umbrella. He pressed the switch near the base of the handle, the pole shooting skywards and the massive black umbrella unfolded, catapulting small raindrops through the air as it did so. Steven hopped across the muddy puddles before finding a suitable dry spot from which to battle.

"Alright, Treecko, I choose you!"

He released the small green lizard, who darted about happily in the rain. Xavier scoffed as he set out his Pokemon.

"Alright, Prometheus, go get 'em!"

The two small Pokemon stood in the drizzle, eying each other.

"Hm. To break the ice, use Pound!"

The small Treecko dashed forward and jumped into the air, performing a somersault before bringing his club like tail down on Chimchar's head.

"Gah! Prometheus, counter with an Ember!"

The small chimp pushed himself off of the grass type and released a flurry of flames at his opponent. The Treecko was engulfed in flame and collapsed, smoking, to the ground.

"Alright, return, Treecko. Go, Geodude!"

A small rock materialized in the middle of a puddle, using his hands to walk about.

"Alright, Rock Polish, then Rock throw!"

Xavier hurriedly returned Prometheus and sent out Carnivine. The Geodude slid his hands over himself, basically sanding down the surface of his body, giving him a more streamlined appearance.

"Now! Rock throw!"

He plunged his hands into the earth and produced a handful of small stones before hurling them at the massive Venus fly trap, each one embedding itself in Carnivine's soft green skin. Carnivine shook itself and sent the small stones flying.

"Bite!"

The grass type charged forward and latched onto Geodude's arm with its teeth, effectively severing it. Steve was taken aback by the force of the attack, his eyes ballooning to comic proportions. Carnivine spit out the stubby arm, which slowly floated up and reattached to Geodude's arm. Carnivine stood there for a moment before his opponent rose into the air and shot forwards, tackling him. The two tumbled for a moment before righting themselves.

"Once more, Carnivine, use Bite!"

Carnivine clamped down on the entire lump that was Geodude. The small rock type bounced around Carnivine's mouth before busting out through the grass type's teeth.

"Constrict!"

Spitting, Carnivine extended one leafy arm and wrapped it around Geodude before tightening its grip, sending a minute web of cracks across Geodude's surface. Carnivine released him, and the rock type fell to the ground, splashing in a puddle.

"Geodude, return! Go, Pikachu!"

Xavier eyed the small electric rodent.

"Well crap."

"ThunderShock!"

The electric rat's tail twitched into the air before a small cloud of electricity formed around it. After it had accumulated, he twitched his tail once more, sending a burst of electricity into Carnivine, who shrieked in pain as the attack hit him.

"So you learned a new attack? Use it!"

Vines curled up from underneath Carnivine, who then used them as a whip, the vine cracking against Pikachu, sending him spinning.

"And again!"

While the Pikachu was on the ground, Carnivine repeated the whip motion, yet again popping the small yellow animal in his soft underbelly.

"Alright, return, Carnivine, and go Chimchar!"

Prometheus popped out and rolled across the soft ground.

"Ember!"

"Thunderbolt!"

The two attacks sailed through the air, hitting their target in perfect unison. Pikachu's fur was slightly blackened around the area the attack had landed, whereas Prometheus was still writhing in pain as the electric attack continued to crackle across his body.

"Scratch!"

Pikachu stood, shaking his head. Turning, he noticed Prometheus hurtling towards him, claws bared. Before he had time to react, the claws raked across his yellow body, and he collapsed. Steve collapsed to his knees, the fabric of is jeas absorbing the water from the ground.

"No...how did you...?"

Xavier silently returned Prometheus and glanced at Steve, who was still knelt in the mud.

"I...I can't...don't believe..."

Steve's eyelids fluttered and his eyes rolled back into his head as he toppled. Xavier sighed.

"Sore loser."

He approached Steve and nudged him with his foot.

"WHUZZAT?"

Steve's eyes snapped open and he looked around.

"Oh. So I lost?"

"Yes."

"Darn."

Steve stood slowly. Picking up his backpack, he sighed.

"Every time..."

"'Scuse me?"

Steve kicked a stone.

"I couldn't beat Lana, the Igneous Leader. She was tough...there's no way you could take her on..."

"R-really?"

Xavier had heard she was one of the easier gym leaders, and the apparent discovery of her difficulty disheartened him.

"Well...who else is there?"

Steve removed his umbrella hat and stuffed it into his pack.

"I'm headed to Mangrove City to take on the leader Brett. He's the weakest gym leader in all of Turlego."

Xavier looked at his relatively weak team.

"Could I tag along?"

Steve zipped the bag up and looked at Xavier.

"Sure. You seem competent enough. After all, you did best me at a Pokemon battle."

Xavier thanked Steve and the two set off down Route 6 to Seaspray Town so they could get access to Route 2 and make their way to Mangrove City.

And thar she blows, folks. Cahpter 5. I'd sure appreciate it if you'd leave a comment!

Re: Tales of Turlego (Feedback EXTREMELY welcome)

Yay! Carnivine got to battle! It was good, but there was one thing that I didn't like much. When a Pokemon fainted, you made it seem like it had been recalled. Anyway, good chapter, can't wait for chapter 6!

Chapter 6-TRAINING DAY!

An old, drab green American helicopter chugged through the sky, its blades spinning rapidly. The inside was crammed full of fresh young faces, men and women who couldn't have been more than 25 years old. It slammed onto the ground, bouncing and jiggling as it did so, the men and women exiting rapidly. The last one to exit was a gruff looking man of approximately 40 years of age. He dropped his cigar onto the muddy ground and stomped it out with the heel of his boot. Removing a Pokéball from his jacket, he addressed the young men and women.

"Alright. Welcome to Kanto."

He glanced over them, cocking his eyebrow.

"Now. It's gonna take some training before any of you are ready for combat. My job is to train you to survive. I will not succeed. Now. Release your Pokémon."

He released an Infernape with a jagged scar over his left eye. The recruits followed suit, releasing several young Pokémon.

"Alright. Drop and give me 20."

The cadets and their Pokémon lowered their belies to the mud and began rising in rhythm as they performed their push-ups. One slipped in the mud and fell face forward into it. The gruff man picked him up by his collar and tossed him backwards.

"20 more!"

The young man grimaced and resumed his push-ups. Suddenly, a massive explosion ripped through the air, sending the standing recruits back to the ground.

"JEEZUS! WHAT WAS THAT?"

"SHIT! IT'S TEAM VOLTAGE!"

The cadets scattered in all directions as several Hyper Beam attacks seared the ground. The gruff drill sergeant sent his Infernape to investigate.

"Use Flare Blitz on whoever did that.

The fire type nodded and surrounding itself in a veil of fire before sprinting off across the mud, where he saw a massive Exploud repeatedly firing the massive blasts of energy. Infernape slammed into the normal type, sending the two sprawling.

"Finish 'im off with Close Combat, Sherman!"

The Infernape stood slowly and loped towards Exploud and began pummeling him with fists and feet. The purple normal type wobbled and fell over. The cadets ran to the top of the hill to the south of the training field and saw hundreds of trainers and Pokémon rushing towards them. The drill sergeant trotted towards the helicopter and grabbed its radio.

"We need a bombing run on the field south of Training Field 13A immediately!"

There was silence for a moment before the reply came.

"Roger, roger, sending in Electrode bombing run now."

He gazed at the sky, where perhaps 30 Pidgeots streaked overhead, each carrying an Electrode in each of its feet. Once they were over the field, they released the Pokémon in their talons. The swarm of Electrodes bounced around on the ground before glowing red and exploding, sending chunks of dirt and other things into the air. Each of the 60 some odd explosions shook the area. After the dust had settled, a few of the surviving trainers rose shakily and resumed their assault. The drill sergenat returned his Infernape and released a Kingdra.

"Jules, use Hydro Pump on that field."

The massive water type nodded and released a massive blast of water onto the bombed out field, turning it into a massive mud puddle. The few remaining enemy trainers slipped and slid in the mud, attempting to get their Pokémon to attack. A dirtied Magmar emerged from the muck and shook the mud off of itself.

"Magmar, use Sunny Day!"

The Magmar concentrated for a moment before bringing the sun out from behind a massive cloud bank. The sun's intensity increased, its ultraviolet rays rapidly drying the mud, giving the trainers purchase. The drill sergeant spun and looked at the cadets.

"Now or never..."

He charged down the hill, the cadets following suit. Attacks flew all around them, tossing them through the air.

"Dragon Pulse!"

Kingdra spun and fired a massive blast of energy through the air, knocking the a Tropius over on its side. The sauropod stood slowly and fired a flurry of Razor Leaves at Kingdra, which was sliced and slashed by the razor sharp leaves. Somewhere, a Weezing used SmokeScreen, blanketing the battlefield in a heavy black smoke.

"Kingdra, Twister!"

The water type swirled rapidly in circles and produced a swirling tower of air that whipped the smoke away from the field, and continued to pick up and toss Pokémon about.

The cadets began hurling minor attacks at the members of Team Voltage. The one who had had to perform extra push-ups released his Pokémon, an Altaria onto the field.

"Altaria, use DragonBreath!"

It began to glide over the battlefield, a beam of energy issuing from its mouth. The beam drew massive trails in the dry cracked earth of the battlefield, and, on occasion, struck an enemy Pokémon. One of the members of Voltage released a massive Gyarados, who he clambered onto.

"Gyarados, use Surf!"

A massive wave was conjured and swept across the field, consuming everythig in its path. The young cadet hopped aboard his Altaria as the now brown wave crashed against the hill, toppling the old helicopter and sending bodies and debris spilling out across the ground until there was little left of the attack than a thin layer of water. Trainers picked themselves up, their waterlogged clothing sticking to their bodies. The Altaria began a slow descent until a massive bolt of thunder shot through the air towards it, connecting with the flying type's body, sending it plummeting to the ground.

The man's eyes jolted open, and he noticed the sweat dripping from him. He shook the dream from his head, trying to forget the time he'd served in the Kanto Civil War.

That's the third time I've had that dream this month...

Slowly rising from his cot, he walked outside and saw the day to day activities of the jungle camp continuing. Returning to his tent, he dressed and grabbed a belt of Pokéballs and headed out to begin the day.

Chapter 6. Beginning some backstory for a character.
