Talking to Your Pokemon?

While playing Platinum, I found that, for some odd reason, my Pokemon were able to take hits better, caused more damage, dodged attacks better, healed from status conditions quicker, and were more accurate than usual if I used verbal encouragement during a battle.

Am I the only one experiencing this, or has anyone else noticed this as well? I think that maybe there might be some secret programming that incorperates the mic. that Nintendo didn't disclose.

I think it may be coincidence.

You may want to see if actual speech works or just shouting something into the mic...or you can play some epic music and see what happens.

I talk to my monsters, and I have experienced the same thing you have. Like, when my Dragonite is confused from Outrage, and I use Outrage again, I say something like, "C'mon, Dragonite!" and it usually goes off without hurting itself. Same with my Garchomp. Also, I have rooted for my Pokemon to survive a type advantage hit, sometimes they have, and other times they haven't. I have thought about that, before. Glad someone made a thread about it.

Also, I have noticed, when, in my head, I think a negative thought, like "it wont hit, or she's gonna faint", it happens! I might just be crazy, though ...

I am talking about my Platinum, btw.

I remember reading somewhere about how the ds pokemon games use the microphone. I think it also works for catching pokemon, but I can't remember what you have to say to make the catch rate higher.

I talk to my Pogeemans sometimes. Usually when I'm either really frustrated or really happy, like when a Pokémon is confused and will either KO itself or the opponent this turn, I'll say something along the lines of:
"You idiot of a Quilava, can't even tell the difference between yourself and that Meganium!" It usually works. But I just think of it as a joke. I don't think it's really a part of the game, but it can be funny when it works.

If my Pokemon fails me, I'll start cussing them out. [such as hurting itself in a confusion or being unable to move from paralysis].
Also when I try to catch pokemon and they don't stay in the ball, I cuss them out too.

This is tough love.

I also have a habit of cussing out gym leaders and trainers too.
It's not silently in my head either, I will seriously start shouting at the game.

Well personally i think its just coincidence my friend because someone would of realised by now and posted it on a website.. :D

Um a large part of Pokemon games is luck based. Nearly everything is determined by a Random Number Generator(RNG).

So yeah that's just a coincidence...

My tactic would probably make my pokemon hate me, if they actually heard how I was talking to them. Let's just say in your case it's a coincidence.

OMG! I thought I was the only one who this happened to. When one of my pokemon is confused I always gibe it the old "come on!, you cann do it!" and it works. LOL!

It's all in your head. It's all in your head.

While verbal encouragement is awesome and all (I do it), it has no effect on battles.

The microphone making the catch rate higher? Ha! That's just like something else someone told me:
Males have higher Attack, females have higher Speed.
Pure fiction. Only Chatter uses the mic.

Yeah, but then again, my sister has this uncanny knack of being able to influence luck to flow her way. Any card pack she opens up always has an exceedingly rare card in it, and when she plays the Pokemon games, OHKO moves always hit their target. There are other examples, but there are too many to explain.

So I tried it today. It landed me a move while confused, but didn't seem to help me with Lugia. Paralysis, 1 HP, and a dusk ball is what did it.

Play "Through the Fire and the Flames" down the mic in the middle of a battle and see if anything epic happens.

...I think it was just a coincidence, though.

Lol I just tried that...and I got killed with a OHKO move T^T
I guess it is just pure coincidence.

No OHKO moves are badass. Thus it totally works cause TTFATF is a badass song.
Just imagine how awesome they'd look like in real life or something. x3
