Taunie in ZA royal

I'm studying and rewatching the cutscenes from my ZA adventure, and I came across this dialogue during the final battle of the ZA Royal against Cety. So how am I supposed to interpret it? In the French version, it's slightly modified because she says, "Only you could force me to use my last Pokémon. Is this projection on her part? Or, up until now in the ZA Royal, has no other trainer pushed her to her limits except our MC. We didn't witness most of Taunie's battles, so assessing her true skill level as a trainer is very difficult. But in my opinion, she's not particularly obsessed with fighting: she mainly trained for her goals and did her best.

Seems very self-explanatory to me. She means she wasn't expecting the player character to push her to the corner where she would have to use her last standing pokémon against him, but he did.

oh my god really?? godddd this makes me feel so vindicated.... if you win the battle against her, she pushes you to go chase down zygarde because she's not close with the weird dog the way you are and i've been arguing with people for LITERAL MONTHS that it's literally just because urbain and taunie are poor communicators. they weren't expecting to lose this fight! so they put up terms that make no sense to follow through on if they lost.

but also comparing her to even just the other members of MZ, her team has a proper typal core, or at least something close to one, and she can put up a better resistance than lida or naveen. and not having a largely monotype team is part of why she can get so high up. the other predominantly monotype teams who're in the uppermost ranks are like. hardcore gamers (grisham) or Just Busted Types (jacinthe + lebanne).
