Many who play the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) began their journey into Pokemon by playing the video games. During the 2008-2009 season last year, TCG players and video gamers held their National and World Championship events side-by-side at the same venues. Each side had the oppurtunity to witness first-hand, the exitement and spectacle of top-level performance. As a devote TCGr, I was drawn to watch some of the playoff rounds of the video game championships. It motivated me to buy a DSi system and Pokemon Platinum cartridge. Now, I'm hooked.
During the 2009-2010 season, it is now possible for video gamers to attend TCG Gym Leagues and earn prizes. Historically, gym leagues have predominantly attracted TCGr's, with some leagues allowing open or limited video gaming. This season, gym leagues are more-inviting to video gamers, allowed them earn exactly the same kind of prizes as the TCGr's -- namely, promotional cards and DS skins.
