Should they appear, we know that Team Flare's never going to over shadow Team Rocket and not that impressive. But to be hypothetical, how would you like for them to be presented as?

For one, I think Team Rocket should be ordered by Giovanni to infiltrate their ranks as double agents. I also think they should show the grunts being like the mafia (more than TR) where they extort money through various ways (not just stealing Pokemon), allowing Ash to run into them more than just "special episodes."

The should bring Malva for some action. She would, being an E4 member, destroy everything (remember that E4 members in the anime have always been and still are invulnerable gods), thus allowing Lysandre to kill everybody. The end.

I would like Team Flare's portrayal to actually be faithful to their role in the games, unlike the treatment Team Plasma received. Just that.

Shouldn't this be discussed after their debut episode has aired? Otherwise you're just setting yourself up for potential disappointment (hint: Team Plasma).

Sorry, not happening.

Even if the Banned 2-Parter hadn't altered the producers' plans for TP, chances they still would've avoided the liberation angle because they'd spent well over a decade making people and Pokémon close friends...which would make TP's initial goal of freeing Pokémon seem pointless and weird.

TF is in an even worse area. There is absolutely NO way they'll go there with Lysandre :uhoh:

Other Animes wouldn't have any problem with him, but not Pocket Monsters

In all my sincerity, I don't see it as an obstacle. They once wrote Cyrus in his "rewrite the universe" scheme, which is far worse.
By the way, Lysandre's ways are so extreme no one in the game ever portrays their goal in a positive light, other than Team Flare themselves, of course. There is not an N-like character trying to add a complex moral dilemma to the equation this time, just Lysandre, who is a nutcase. If they are not willing to write it, then they really have lost any backbone.

I disagree. Team Plasma would be portrayed as twisting the facts and taking advantage of the ignorant masses who wouldn't be such deep thinking philosophers. Not to mention bring up the harm humans like hunters have done to Pokemon. I've been on the internet, seeing how ignorant people can get (not naming any name though).

But that's off-topic. PM me if you want to discuss further.

There's nothing wrong with speculating so long as you know you'll likely not get what you want.

If we should deem from the quality of the aired eps of XY I have faith in that Team Flare will get good treatment. That idea about TR infiltrating them sounds fun though.

You had better not be referring to anyone on this forum (or any other Pokemon community for that matter). And it doesn't matter if you name names or not - the insinuation is going to make people uncomfortable enough. :p

Anyhow, the first post states that this is intended to be a hypothetical discussion about what you would like to see done with Team Flare in the anime, so please let's not turn this into another Team Plasma disappointment thread.

Nobody here. I actually had Tumblr in mind (polarizing doesn't BEGIN to describe that site).

I think that it would be interesting if they did something with Malva whenever they get to Team Flare. While the Adventures/Special series has covered evil Elite 4 members before, I don't think that the anime has tackled something like that yet. It would be kind of interesting if they showed more about Team Flare's appeal through her, especially as someone who is in a high position of authority like an Elite 4 member. I kind of wish she had more of a presence during the games' storyline too for that matter. If they'll make Team Flare more serious, then I'd like to see Malva be more involved.

A part of me wouldn't mind if they made Team Flare more goofy than the other villain teams. I know that we already have the Team Rocket trio for comedy relief, but Team Flare was so ridiculous throughout the majority of the game that it was difficult to take them as a legitimate threat later on. They were just so silly that a part of me would be okay if they were initially shown as a bunch of goofy grunts in ridiculously suits.

That would be cool. Or at least her being a former TF member helping out our heroes looking for redemption (which is more likely).

And hey, the third version or sequel games will have an effect, so we beat not presume anything just yet.

Though keep in mind, the producers don't like the Elite Four for some reason...

That sounds fun too!

Especially since the grunts and admins are just too flashy and fabulous to take seriously.

Fuck Yeah, Pokémon Villains, kynimdraws: "Do you think that uggo has mad...

Ooh! Maybe the grunts can be comic relief idiots while the leaders are the real problem!

With Malva, I'd like to see her first portrayed as an Elite 4 member. With her Team Flare membership not being found out until after Ash and his friends defeat them and foil their plot. They would see her again, but she would be angry and go after them and that's when they would find out that she was working for them.

I'd like to see each of the Team Flare admins make an appearance and have a role in the arc. With the Ultimate Weapon and AZ, it would be cool if that whole part of the X/Y storyline was kept for their anime arc; since that's the part I enjoyed most in the games.

Although I don't think it'll be included in the anime, I'd like to see the Xerosic/Essentia storyline incorporated in some way for the anime.

Having her help out for redemption does sound like a possibility too, although actually seeing her be in Team Flare would help to make that more effective. That's a good point about how the next game after X/Y could factor into how they present Malva and Team Flare in general. As for the Elite 4, I think it's more like they just don't use them too often rather than they don't like them. They could use Malva to use for the Team Flare storyline, depending on which angle they'd go with for the team in general, so out of all of the Kalos Elite 4 members, she has the best chance to appear at this point.

Making the grunts more comedy relief would be fitting, especially if they keep the silly poses. The scientists weren't really any more threatening due to their melodramatic reactions to defeats, but making them more threatening, along with Lysandre, would work a bit better than making Team Flare in general more serious.

If we saw Malva in Team Flare before Ash and his friends defeat them, then keeping them in the dark about that detail until after they foil their plot could work. The Team Flare scientists are pretty unimpressive to me, but the anime giving them a role in the arc could improve them. Keeping the Ultimate Weapon and AZ storyline in tact would be cool.

I love that storyline. I still wish that it was longer and included all of the Team Flare scientists. It does seem rather unlikely for the anime to include it, but I'd be up for seeing how they could handle that storyline.

personally i find the idea of Team Rocket infiltrating Team Flare with double agents simply awesome. More kudos if Flare grunts are goofy and the double agents are the TRio, that way you get a refreshing story for the three and a weird, new comedy dynamic (if written well). DO IT WRITERS.

ok i havent played the games yet as i dont have a 3ds. so i just want to know why people are bringing up malva.

Spoiler alert: after you beat the Champion for the first time and the post-game opens up, you'll get to go on missions for Looker. During one of those missions, Looker tasks you on meeting with Malva (after what I assume he blackmailed/ made an agreement with her, it's never made clear), you battle with her and, after you've defeated her, she confesses her involvement with Team Flare and also about Xerosic's plan on the Expansion Suit (that still cracks me up). She then reveals to you the location of a secret floor at Team Flare's lab. That's basically the gist of it.

oh. i should have figured given her outfit

They should go to route of Lysandre wanting to kill all the Pokemon like in the games, then he'll be in direct opposition to Ash.

Although I'd love to see the games portrayal of him wanting to destroy all people and Pokemon like in the games, I don't think they'll take it to that extremity. It would be nice though, especially since it'd bring darkness to the arc and Ash and Lysandre's morals will clash.
