Welcome to my first Pokémon fanfic. This fanfic is about the trials and tribulations of a teenage girl and her Pokémon, as we follow het along her journey. Criticism is of course welcome, as are reviews and other comments.

Chapters may contain Sexual References and Offensive Language.

Introduction:-

The girl was staring out across the field, the next day was her tenth birthday, but she would not be celebrating it by receiving a Pokémon, she had not lived in Kanto for long enough.
She had only moved to Pallet town 4 years previous, from a small town in Johto, with her mother. She didn’t know her father, he had left not long after her birth after he had fought with his wife, and he never came back.
The girl came back to the real world in a start, as her mother shouted,
“Sasha!” came the call, “Close the curtains and get to bed”
“Yes mother,” she replied grudgingly, before she clambered into bed.

Later that night, Sasha woke up to a dull, almost inaudible rumbling sound, the water in the glass next to her bed was shaking violently. She looked out of her bedroom, noticing that the Weathervane on the laboratory was swaying to-and-fro, like a Pidgey caught in a gale. She spotted a small light flickering in the sky, the light appeared to get bigger.
“Is that light getting closer” Sasha wondered aloud. It was. The light flew past her so close that she felt the raw heat on her face, the sensation lingered even whilst she watched the light bury itself in the field beyond her house.
Sasha grabbed her coat and put on her slippers, before sneaking outside.

The light had crashed about 200 yards away from her house. As Sasha approached the crater she realised that it was not a mysterious light but a small birdlike pokémon. The bird was only as tall as her knee, its steely coat blackened with charcoal,
“Ska-Mor-Y” the pokémon cried weakly, it was barely 6 months old.
“Shh, its ok, I’ll get you back to the laboratory, the Professor will know what to do.”
She wrapped the bird in her coat, burning her hand in the process.
Sasha tried to pick the Skarmory up, “You’re a heavy Pokémon” she muttered to herself, “We had better get you to the Professor quickly!”

*************

The doors burst open, “P-P-Professor, help!” Sasha shouted, “I need help with this pokémon.”
The Professor and his granddaughter ran in, “Mary, you take the pokémon of Sasha, and take it to the ward, I need to ask what happened.”
“Yes, Grandfather,” Mary replied,
“Now Sasha, I need you to tell me what happened to Skarmory.”
“I-I-I woke up and everything was shaking, there was a rumble, so I looked out my window and a bright light flew past me and crashed in the field. I went outside to see what it was and found Skarmory at the bottom of a crater, is he going to be ok?”
“It’s a bit too early to tell, and it depends on how serious his injuries are, but I think he should be ok, it will be painful but he should recover. You did well Sasha.” Oak replied.
“Thank you Professor,” Oak turned to leave “by the way is it ok if I stay here with him?”
Professor Oak said whilst smiling at her, “Of course you can Sasha.”

*************

Sasha awoke the next morning to the sound of a Dodrio welcoming the sunrise. She woke up in one of the bedrooms in the laboratory. Disorientated, it took her a moment to remember the events of the night before. When she remembered she rushed downstairs to check on Skarmory. The Professor was sat in the kitchen with a bowl of cereal, reading the morning’s newspaper.
“Relax Sasha,” the Professor laughed “Skarmory is ok, he’s just in the ward getting some rest, you can go and see him later if you want?”
“Thank you Professor, I would like that very much.” She glanced around and realised that her mother didn’t know where she was.
“Oh no… Mum’s gonna kill me when she finds out!”
“She won’t Sasha, I’ve already sent Mary over to your house to tell your mother that you are safe and sound, although she won’t be too happy about the state of your pyjamas.”
Sasha glanced down and noticed several large holes in the pyjamas, her face went bright red.
“Erm… Professor?”
“We still have some of Mary and Gary’s clothes from when they were your age, you can borrow them if you want?”
“Thank you again Professor.” Sasha replied, before running upstairs, to go and get dressed.

*************

Sasha came back downstairs, in her newly acquired clothes, a pair of old jeans, and a baggy blue top, with a picture of a Squirtle on it, and was confronted by the sight of her Mother sat with Professor Oak.
“Hi Mum,” Sasha said shyly,
“There you are! I was so worried when I got up and you weren’t in your bed! What were you doing, anything could have happened to you! You could have been attacked by wild Pokémon, or been kidnapped, or, or, or…” before she could say another word Professor Oak interrupted,
“There’s nothing to worry about, Sasha is ok, and it appears that she could well have saved a Pokémon’s life.”
“I know Professor” Sasha’s mother answered, “I was just a bit worried that’s all”
”I know, I understand what it’s like, having kids running around in the middle of the night,” Oak said as he glanced in the direction of Mary and Gary “Anyway, Sasha, Shall we go and see Skarmory now?”

*************

6 years later

“Mum? Mum! Have you seen Skarmory” Sasha asked,
“No dear, why? Do you want to take him with you?” came the reply,
“Yeah, but I need to go now, I’ll see you later ok?”
Sasha stepped out the door, and began to walk towards Oak’s Laboratory. She had now lived in Kanto for 10 years, so she was now allowed to receive a starter pokémon, even though she’d had Skarmory for 6 years to the day.
‘Where are you Skarmory?’ she though to herself, and as if reading her thoughts, he flew done from his perch on the roof, and nudged her shoulder with his beak,
“There you are you little bugger” she laughed, “come on, we’re going to see the Professor again.”

Sasha slid down off of Skarmory’s muscled, steel back. The Doors to the Laboratory opened with a loud creaking sound, “Hello Professor” she smiled, as he walked past.
“Ah, there you are Sasha, I assume you are here to receive your Starter? And I see you brought Skarmory with you, how much the two of you have changed over the last 6 years, its amazing…” Oak reminisced, “Anyway Skarmory, Sasha, follow me.”
The Professor took the pair to a room that Sasha had never been in before. The puzzlement on her face must have shown.
“Only trainers who are receiving or have received their starter can enter this room, that’s why you haven’t been in here before. This room is where I keep the Pokéballs for all the trainers who started their journey in Pallet town.”

“I hope you haven’t chosen which starter Sasha, as I, um… appear to have run out…
I have had contact with Professor Elm from New Bark Town in Johto, about the evolution of certain types of Pokémon, specifically Eevee. Professor Elm is the person to see about Pokémon evolution, but even he can not work out what triggers Eevee to evolve.
If it is ok with you Sasha, I would like to give you an Eevee in place of a normal starter, as you are obviously more mature than any of the other new trainers, and I can’t think of anyone better to investigate the evolutions. So what do you say?”
“Of course Professor, If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have Skarmory here with me right now, I’d do anything to help your research.”

*************

“Hey mum, I’m back. The Professor gave me an Eevee and my very own Pokédex!”
“Go on then Sasha let me see Eevee” Sasha’s mum replied, Sasha let the Eevee out of the Pokéball.
“Aww! It’s so cute Sasha, much better than any of those other starters!” Sasha’s mum said, almost squeaking out of excitement, “I guess you will also want to be starting your journey soon then Sasha?”
“Yeah I think so mum, is that ok?”
“Of course it is dear, oh wait here, I’ll be back in a minute.”
Her mother ran upstairs leaving Sasha sat there puzzled, stroking her new Eevee who was trying to get away and run around the house, “Eevee, will you behave!”
“Ah here you go Sasha,” Her mother handed her a box, “It contains a pendant, your father gave it to me before he left. It has a large tooth on it, I don’t know what from, but he told me to give it to you when you got your own Pokémon, and said you would realise what it was for one day.”
Sasha took the necklace out of the box, and put it around her neck.

“I’d best be going now mum, I will come and visit you again soon, Skarmory will fly me home”
“Ok Sasha, look after yourself and don’t do anything stupid. Oh, don’t talk to strangers!”
“Mum! I’m 16 now, I can look after myself! I have Skarmory and Eevee to protect me now anyway,”
“I know you do dear, I was only winding you up, I’ll see you soon then I suppose Sasha.”
“You will, Bye Mum!”
“Bye Dear”
Sasha walked out the front door, smile beaming, from ear to ear, with Skarmory and Eevee in close pursuit, and so, Sasha began her Pokémon journey.

Chapter One: - Wild Pokémon Attack!

“Skarmory! Finish it off with Peck!” The Bird’s spear-like beak hardened, its eyes glazed over. Skarmory beat its wings once more, before it dived towards the ground.
The attack hit, sending the Sandshrew flying. It crashed into a nearby tree startling a flock of Pidgey into flight.
“Sandshrew,” the Boy yelled, the boy was about the same age as Sasha, slightly taller than her. His fair shoulder-length hair was blowing around in the breeze. His bicycle was lying on the ground behind him, abandoned.
“Are you ok?” The Pokémon struggled onto its hind legs, and raised its body and nodded to its trainer.
“No, stop, Sandshrew can’t take much more. He’s already badly hurt, you should take him to the Pokémon Centre.”
“Yeah, I guess I better had, C’mon Sandshrew, return to your Ball.” A red light was emitted from the ball, and surrounded the Mouse Pokémon, before disappearing along with the Pokémon.
“You’re pretty tough for a girl, what’s your name?” the Boy asked.
“I’m Sasha, who are you?”
“Erm, I’m Bearn of Knot Island in the Sevii Islands. I’m on a journey to become the world’s best trainer, like my Granddad” Bearn blushed, realising he had said too much.
“Well, Bearn of Knot Island, for that honour you’re gonna have to battle me again.”
“Yeah, I guess I will, well next time I’m gonna beat you!”
“I look forward to the battle then, you’d best get to the Pokémon Centre now though.”
The Boy hopped onto his bicycle, and pedalled off towards the City of Viridian.

*********

Sasha was walking through the fields between Pallet Town and Viridian City, her mind however was elsewhere.
Her thoughts were stuck on the boy she battled,
‘Bearn… Why can’t I stop thinking about him? Was it how he battled? How he treated his Sandshrew, when he realised it was hurt? Something else?’She shook her head to clear the thought, and felt something hit her in the back. She turned round to look where it came from.
Whack! An over-ripe peach exploded over her face. ‘What was that?’ she wondered.
“Skarmory, go!”
A Mankey fell out of a nearby tree. The ape-like Pokémon was making a strange sound, almost laughing at Sasha. ‘Right then Mankey, nobody makes fun of me like that!’ she thought to herself.

“Skarmory, Wing Attack on the Mankey,” Sasha shouted, angry with herself for letting a wild Pokémon get the best of her, as much as she was angry with the Mankey.
Skarmory flew at the Mankey, metallic wings glittering in the sunlight. The Mankey was still rolling around on the ground and only just evaded the attack. As Skarmory flew over the Mankey, it jumped up and grabbed Skarmory by the foot.
Skarmory responded by curling its talons into the ape’s paw, causing it to howl in pain, as it let go off the foot, and fell back to the ground.
The Pokémon climbed back onto its feet, enraged, and began to glow in a reddish light.
“Quick Skarmory, attack, before it can hit you!” Sasha ordered, still trying to pick bits of Peach out of her hair. Skarmory glanced back in acknowledgement and dove towards the Mankey. It was too slow. As Skarmory hit the Pokémon with its wing, the Mankey’s curled fist caught the metal-bird in its throat, both Pokémon went tumbling, sending a cloud of dust into the air.
Sasha coughed, when the dust got into her throat. When the dust finally began to settle, the two Pokémon had both struggled to their feet, weakened by the collision. One of the Mankey’s arms was hanging limply by its side, and Skarmory’s wings were both scratched badly.

Sasha realised the opportunity and reached into her bag, bringing out an empty Pokéball that the Professor had given her. She pushed the button at the front to activate it, lobbing it at the injured Mankey.
The Ball hit the Pokémon and opened. The red light emanating from the ball covered the Mankey, pulling it inside the ball as it closed.
The ball fell to the ground and wobbled, once, twice and three times, before making a pinging sound to let Sasha know the Mankey was caught.

“Ha I’ve got you now Mankey, you’d better not throw fruit at me again now, otherwise I’m giving you to the Professor.” She looked around for Skarmory, and told it how well it had done, before returning it to its Pokéball. She then set off towards Viridian City once more.

*********

The sun was setting as Sasha opened the door to the Pokémon Centre. She stepped inside and received a scent of air freshener mixed with the smell of food cooking.
‘That smells good’ she thought to herself, whilst she walked over to the front desk.
At the desk was a woman with pink hair in a nurse’s outfit, sat next to a pink pokémon, wearing a similar outfit, a Chansey.
“Hello there, what can we do for you today?” the nurse asked,
“My Pokémon are a bit weak after a battle, would you be able to heal them?”
“Of course we can,” the nurse replied with a smile, “Just put your Pokéballs in the tray there, and we will do the rest. Feel free to wander around the Centre as much as you want. I will let you know when your Pokémon are fully healed.”
“Ok thanks.” Sasha said.

Sasha was sat on a comfy seat with a mug of coffee in one hand and a magazine in the other. On the front page was a story about a Red Gyarados appearing at some lake in Johto, mildly interested she opened the magazine and flicked to the page referenced at the front.
A voice came from behind,
“Hey Sasha,” she recognised the voice immediately,
“Hey Bearn, how’s your Sandshrew?” she inquired,
“He’s fine, his pride is a bit wounded, but he will be ok. Listen, I was talking to my brother and he reckons, well, Erm… Well, would it be ok if I travel with you for a bit? My brother thinks that I could learn quite a bit from you, if that’s ok?” Bearn asked, blushing once more.
“Yeah, sure you can. It’s always nice to have some human company, I might learn something of you as well.”
“Ok, great! I guess it’s a bit late for us to leave for the forest now though.”
“Yeah it is really, we should leave it until tomorrow, anyway, I’m going bed now, so I’ll see you in the morning, we will be leaving at about 9:00 tomorrow, so be ready!”
“Ok, I will be. Goodnight Sasha,”
“Goodnight Bearn,” Sasha finished off the mug of coffee, stood up, and went to get her Pokéballs back, before walking off towards the dormitories.
