We've seen various "News Broadcasts" and the little bit from the beginning of the series when Prof. Oak was showing off the 3 starters...

But what other television programs do you think they have in the Pokemon World? :/

Keep in mind that the series opened up with Ash watching a Pokemon battle on TV, so there's your sports network.

Misty (dub) once mentioned seeing a documentary on those Octillary prevos (whatever they're called).

We know the Pokémon League is broadcast on TV.

They probably have what passes for the Discovery Channel in the Pokémon world. I remember a fanfic written by Classic Cowboy on FFN that featured an original character he named Steve Dervin, the Totodile Hunter. Funny stuff.

Hmm...maybe they've got ads for restaurants like:

"Rustboro Fried Torchic! Taste the Flamin' side of RFT!"

or "Headbutt!Apply directly to the forehead! You'll KO Pokemon instantly!

I also think that they might have a show called "Random Trainer Battles" where they pop in on some trainers unannounced to find a good battle. Imagine them finding a Magikarp vs Magikarp.:p

ESPN: Entertainment & Sports Pokemon Network :-D

I wonder if there would be enough demand to warrant the Pokemon world equivalent of cable television? The real world ESPN/Sky Sports/SportTV sprung up from consumer demand for non-stop sports coverage, so considering the high demand for Pokemon battles I would think it would warrant it's own network.

But on the other hand, how many competitive battles would get televised outside of the Pokemon League conferences and Grand Fesitivals? Those only last a few weeks at a time, and most of the early matches take place during the day, as opposed to prime-time. The real world equivalents in America (like the World Series, NFL playoffs and Super Bowl, NBA playoffs) all get televised on basic-access TV.

If more minor battles got televised, those are the ones that would probably get televised on the "Pokemon ESPN": stuff like the Whirl Islands Cup, or small-time Pokemon Contests. The bigger stuff like the Silver Conference or Indigo League would get televised on the major networks, specifically the Pokemon equivalents of ABC, NBC, CBS, or Fox (sorry if this doesn't make sense for non-Americans... ABC and the others are the low-level channels, like channel 4 and channel 5. If you're British I believe the BBC would be the British equivalent).

There would probably also be battles on local-access TV too. Gym Battles, which are usually held on a moment's notice, might be taped and then aired on local broadcasts, similar to how High School football games are televised in America. I've also always imagined there would be a Pokemon equivalent to Friday Night Fights- two prominent Trainers who otherwise would never end up battling each other are invited to battle on pay-per-view TV for money (hey, a trainer's got to earn a living somehow!). For example, invite Bruno to square off against Flint of the Sinnoh Elite Four one week, then two other big-name trainers the next week, etc. Perhaps this was the sort of match Ash was watching when the series opened.

So, yeah, lots of Pokemon battles on TV :-D

Well you've got those "hip & happening" shows in Hoenn, along with the fishing guru. they also air all contests you do.

Well, there are programs that "your dad might enjoy," or "your mom might enjoy." Lifetime Movie Network? Something about gyms/gym leaders.

And in Emerald (I think it's Emerald anyway) Stand by Me is on.

in the Pokemon Chronicles episode "We're No Angels" ((SS003 on Bulbapedia)), Jessie, James and Meowth are mistaken for Team Rightous from an old TV show.
Therefore presumably they have plenty of programmes/cartoons similar to those in the real world (sci-fi programmes, super heroes, medical dramas, crime dramas, etc) just with Pokemon inserted (or possibly wierd alternate reality shows where Pokemon don't exist).

Also of note is the 'Sinnoh Pokemon Hustle' which formed the central theme of an episode (I forget which one) and was broadcast on TV.

Well of course they have weekly soap operas like "All My Chikorita" and "General Pokecenter".

Oh, and don't forget about "Everybody Loves Raikou".
