I beleive that sometimes when people use terms, some other people get confused. So I propose a Forum-wide term useage. Here are the terms...

Legit: Well, legal. Untouched by any means.
Semi-Legit: Hacked to obtain item, area, wonder card, Pokéwalker area, ect. Also refers to when you "force" a rare (5% appearence chance) Pokémon or make it shiny.
Semi-Hacked: Hacked Parents, bred. Also refers to have Hacked Egg Moves, Hacked Items, Hacked Ability - But could be put off as legit on Pokémon Championships. Pokémon that was completely hacked, but still believable (no über-IVs, impossible abilities, legendaries, etc.) also fall under this catagory (Credit to Axle Helios)
Hacked - Fully Hacked. No questions asked, the creator put no work into it whatsoever.

Please discuss. If I get suggestions to change this list I will. This will, of course, if implemented be voluntery, but having a system we all know will help greatly.

Thank you for reading,

Lucario.

Good question. I think it should be classed as Semi-Hacked.

That's where I was leaning as well, but there's always the school of thought that 'hacked is hacked' so that was questionable. I feel so honoured to have been on that list.

:)

Anyone else got any suggestions? Do you like this list? Please comment.

UT - Untouched
RNG - People have mixed views on whether this is Okay, so it should be noted.
Legit - Legit (Event, Bred, Caught- w/no obscure stats)
Legit/Hack - Obscure stats to make it seem hacked, but otherwise passable as Legit (Perfect Chansey w/Seismic Toss and HealBell/Aromatherapy, etc).
Hack - 100% Hacked, but legal.
Illegal - Hacked with no possible way of being real.

This is how I separate things.

I think the problem is, as Axle pointed out, people are going to come up with constant marginal cases which are going to be unclassifiable.

My general rule of thumb for "hacked" has been if the Poke has been affected by a cheating device. That means, basically--if its stats have been modified, if that's how it was caught, whatever, it's hacked.

How about cloning? Since it's not legit per definition, but most people think they're OK, where do you put them? Semi-legit?

That's very opinion based, but I'd say because the Pokémon was legitly caught with regular stats, but the are two of them, I can't see why it shouldn't be legit.

You got the second one in a way that was not intended, if people says that cloning is OK, but anything else that give you an advantage over other players is very, very bad because you get an advantage then I call them a hypocrite.

And since you can't clone w/o a hacking device in PtHGSS, AR clones are by definition hacking.

That's why they, IMO is semi-legit, not that I care for cloning, but in the principle they are not 100% legit.

So, if a pokemon is hacked, but is hacked to be legit looking, as in it has regular stats and such, and can be put on PBR and the GTS, then it is considered semi-hacked, even if it has a lot of EV's, but still reasonable IV's?

Yes, as you can get a lot of EVs perfectly legitly.

if you count cloning as hacked, that basically means anything with good ivs, as I'm not going to spend 3 hours breeding for one trade.
I think people who don't clone could say so, but I know at least for me, I'd just put
ASSUME EVERYTHING IS CLONED in my shop, because there is no way to tell.
and you can clone in hg/ss with a pokéwalker. Get your facts strait. People who don't like cloning are fine, but making everyone post a "I hack" thing because their pokémon are cloned is a bit silly.

for example, my tyrouge with 31/31/x/31/x/31 adamant I bred my self after lots of work, I wouldn't trade it for some random giritina if I didn't have clones of it. Cloning. Allowing cloning lets newer player get rarer pokémon.

What about psudo-event pokemon? I sometimes make hacks here and there (nothing crazy) to commemorate certain events and stuff (Special Manga theme Deoxys, E3 Metroid: Other M announcement Tentacruel, etc. I'm working on a 2012 Absol as a little joke among my friends, and an E3 2010 Star Fox Wii Ninetails). Some of the official stuff has unusual and unbelievable move sets (Spacial Rend, Roar of Time, and Shadow Force on a Darkrai... yeah... and Grumpigs can learn fly).

Psuedo-Event? As in, Like, GTS Distributions? If they have no Moves they Can't learn, that's OK, Semi-Hacked.

If they have impossible moves (Not counting Event Moves) then Hacked.
