In 2096 C.E, a giant meteor shower occurred. But they were no ordinary meteors. Aside from actually being tough enough to break through earth's atmosphere, it was found that many people could harness the meteor's power to travel through time, as welk as receiving a secondary power, such as invisibility, or super strength! Not only that, but shards of the meteors split off as they careened towards earth, and were pulled towards those who had the most impact on history. Now, in the year 2196, secret society's have been formed, some to use the meteor's powers for good, and some for evil.
Time Travel Rules:
Rule 1: The Returning Property: If one travels to another time, one HAS to return. What this means is that you can only die during your own lifetime. So, if Paul(2176-2262) travels back to 2002, and gets shot by Suzy(1983-2066) because he's in a rival organisation, he doesn't die. However, if he travel's to 2178, and dies there, he stays dead for good.
Rule 2: The Battle Property: This is a corollary to rule 1. If two time travelers meet, they can, by mutual consent, agree to fight a duel to the death. They join hands to form a circle, and they are teleported to a pocket dimebsion, called an Anachronism Pocket. This area is, for all intents and purposes, in bothe fighter's lifetimes, and thus they can both die. This is often the only way for two time traveller's to kill each other.
Rule 3: The Locking Principle: If two time traveler's touch hands, but only one party is willing, than the unwilling party is locked in that time. That means they can only travel through time if the other person moves outside of a 40 foot range.
Rule 4: The Reversion Principle: Let's go with the classic example and say Paul decided to go back in time an assassinate Hitler, and succeeds. Now, you'd expect the Holocaust to be averted as a consequence, but you'd be wrong. Time is like a rubber band. Whenever you stretch it, it always bounces back. Even if you put a small hole in it, it would return quite close to it's previous form. So, if Hitler died before he was supposed to, some other guy, preferably having a similar background, would take his place.
Rule 5: The Reversion Corrolary: If something of this sort happens to a time traveller, however, they get no such benefit. The thing is, they usually cause so much trouble for the timestream, it would be much better off if they weren't replaced. Note that this only applies where rules 2 and 3 do.
