Looking at the Global Warming debate from a different perspective. Personally, it's telling me what I already know, but he presents it well. (As with most videos, free feel to ignore the comments, since that mostly is just a sampling of the finest idiocy the 'net has to offer.)

The first time I saw this argument was in my Environmental Science textbook. It discussed it from a different perspective - even if it's not saving us from a global disaster, managing our resources does have other benefits to us. So they said it's basically a choice between "major win/minor win" or "win/major loss" depending on what we do. But then again, well, while the authors certainly knew the field and were justified in everything they said, I'd argue it was my most biased textbook ever.

Anyway, I put this in the Soap Box since it is about a controversial matter, but I'll be interested to see if and how the argument is actually debated.

I don't understand how one can deny Global Warming.

Its simple cause and effect, and can/has been proven scientifically.

As for a solution to Global Warming itself, its probably gonna take a "Natural Disaster" of epic proportions (something like half of Florida falling into the ocean due to rising water) to finally make people realize that this is real, and its something that we need to take seriously.

I saw this when Tim Buckley(ugh) posted it in his news thing.

It's not a new perspective, it's the "Better safe than sorry" argument we've been hearing since the beginning of this - dragged out to a good four minutes or so.

He doesn't take into account likely hood, which is why we see people still in disbelief over climate change, because from whatever evidence they've seen for themselves, to think otherwise doesn't make sense.

I think everyone would be better off if we left what causes it out of the discussion (I mean policy makers). The people who can't stand taking responsibility and act like it's a natural phase should at least be able to see that if something isn't done we won't be around to care.

Posting when it's 90°F at around 8 PM, I know this is a problem.

We need to have people quit thinking about their own wallets in the present and think about the livability of this planet in the future. We can't exactly go to Mars instantly if something goes wrong.
