The best episode ever was when Charizard battled Magmar. This is not open to debate.

There were far better battles in the series than that, although it was definitely a good one.

Is this going to be another 1998 Kanto glorification nostalgia thread and anything mentioned from AG or D/P will be deemed not worthy?

Seriously?

I say probably Claydol Big and Tall, All The Mawille, Whiscash and Ash, Whichever Way The Wind Blows are my top

Leaning together, headpieces filled with straw alas!

Why would I give any credit to ADV or DP episodes? Everyone knows the Kanto episodes are superior.

lol, just what I expected, another 1998 worshipper who refuses to give the AG or D/P series any credit.

Not everyone glorifies Kanto and thinks AG or D/P are inferior, you know.

=O oh rly?

Whoa, really? I had no idea that people had points of view until you told me just now. Thank you for elucidating!

This is coming from someone who starts a thread saying, "This is not open to debate."

?

If this is not open to debate, why even make the thread? You obviously don't want to hear our opinions. Starting a thread like this and then getting all defensive because people disagree with you would be a given.

And not everyone who doesn't glorify May and AG is a 1998 worshipper...

Do I Hear a Ralts? by far.
And it even leaves room for a sequal which is great since the Ralts line is yet to be used to its potential in the anime.

How dare you!!

My dictum is pristine, and I take nothing back! I am hardly the one who is defensive here.

Not rly!

I think you may have confused sarcasm with anger in your paranoia.

I have trouble seeing sarcasm in a line that wasn't sarcastic.

Is this thread going to reach 5 pages before the end of the day now?

English

In the English language, the making of ridiculous claims is commonly used to sarcastic effect. Now, while not exactly acerbic, the use of the phrase 'not open to debate' was pretty obviously used to be sarcastic. For your information, I stopped watching the pokemon cartoon after Orange Islands. Despite disliking the pokemon cartoon now, I still remember most of the Kanto episodes from when I was a child.

Then making a ridiculous claim such as, "Everyone knows the Kanto episodes are superior" not only sounds like elitism, but it also sounds like you're being overly defensive over the two new series you haven't seen.

If you've stopped watching the anime around 1999, you have little room to speak about the quality of the show nowadays.

Every episode where May's chest gets 3 seconds of airtime is Scott's favorite, CK, you should know that. :p

With that said, I will now pull a surprise. You all think I'd pick all Kanto episodes since I'm a traditionalist, right? Nope. My top pick is the Anabel arc from Battle Frontier (surprise!) followed up by Pokéball Peril and most of Orange Islands, trailed then by a scattering of episodes across all generations. (the recent Subomi episode, even)
