ending: Megaman X

The moment when Sephiroth's sword goes through Aerith.

Also, the opening FMV from Final Fantasy VIII, and most of the other FMV's from FFVIII.

Other good moments:
Opening sequence from Megaman 2, I love the music.
Credits roll from Metroid 2, again, music is awesome.

I'll think of more later.

Several:

1. When the big rings go over the world when Palkia/Dialga rises. Diamond and Pearl
2. Running away from the robot spider, while fighting it at the same time. Final Fantasy VIII
3. Kicking the FinalHazard's ass as Super Sonic. >:3 Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

I think it's that moment when you first or go into the synchronization mode like thing. Like the first time I did a huge air combo in Marvel vs Capcom, I was in the zone and just killed the guy without blinking. It felt and looked awesome.

The same thing happens when I play Virtual On or Smash with really strong people, it feels like you go in the zone where your brain starts feeding you dopamine or something. (like a drug or something, you feel hyper focused and everything you do is calculated and makes you feel on the edge of your seat, but your brain is making you feel good like a massage or something)

I probably sound like a gamer junkie, but I know this happens with some people who play FPS really well. (And it's not the same thing as playing a game without realizing what you are doing like a rhythm game) It just feels awesome.

I ask you to take my soul, which
rests in the fiercely burning
flame...

And convey my words to my men,
who, even in death, remain loyal
to me.

Tell them the war has ended...

Then I shall be able to drift
quietly into sleep...

Captain, sir!

May I take leave, sir?

Miming Knights of the Round to fight the Emerald and Ruby weapons in FFVII

Was most amusing and took about 14 minutes for each fight.

SHODAN revealing herself midway through System Shock 2
Squaring off against Red in Pokemon Gold
Beating the pants off Dagoth Ur in Morrowind
Conquering the last nation in Rise of Nations

Best level: The dream (I think) levels in Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. The ones the black crystals were for.

Ending: In the original GB Tetris game there was a B version in the game where you started with random pieces littered around the screen. You chose levels of how high they went. IIRC five was the highest. And there were a certain amount of lines you needed to win. And I think it was that that you needed to win to get all the musicians playing at the end with the big congrats rocket after. I loved getting that. Unfortunately my brother lost my game and I can't find it again and other Tetris games don't have it. ;-;

Best Boss Battle: Baby Bowser from Yoshi´s Island. I am still shivering.

Best "first world": Running around in the castle´s garden in Mario 64

Best level: I want to choose a bee-level from DKC2 , but I can´t decide...

Best RPG-moment: Sephiroth´s mindfuck with Cloud. ( hey, FF7 was my first FF, I am from europe :p)

Best overall moment: The whole Kafei-story from Majoras Masks. Especially the ending when they finally meet.

I can´t decide on an ending... Secret of Mana was awesome back then, but I can´t stand it anymore due to the horrible german translation :(

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid yet in terms of boss fights. His introduction, the events leading up to him, and even the battle itself are all ridiculous. Doing everything from commenting on how you play the game, to even asking if you like Castlevania. Then you have to switch your controller to the other port if you want to beat him. In fact, the Metal Gear Solid series in general has some awesome moments and boss fights.

Another one I particularly enjoy are the railshooter missions in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. If you have "Welcome to the Jungle" playing as they're taking place, it makes them that much more intense. Grand Theft Auto in general can be excellent at times, Vice City especially. Yet another is the entirety of Contra III - the entire game makes me feel like a badass. And with good reason - you're just one muscular guy with dual guns and many weapons going against an entire alien army. Contra IV is much the same way, although the games out of the normal numbered series are kind of weak in that regard. Also, Super Metroid's final battle gets notable mention, for being the first video game I played to make me say "Oh, HELL YEAH!" out loud.

Yeah, I´ve heard so much praise for MGS, especially this battle and I bet I would have chosen it, but I never actually played one of the MGS games ^^"

:(

i know what you mean.

ffvii was my first FF and the first RPG i renember playing, i think i first played it when i was 9.......

As much as i know there are a WEALTH of moments i'd like to pick, i'd have to say the endings to FFVII and FFVIIDoC

Mine are:
Level: 10 in Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland

Boss Battle: Cynthia (Diamond), Blue (FireRed), Last one (forgot his name) Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland

As far as boss battles go, the Alastor battle in Viewtiful Joe was pretty much pwnage, probably because of the visuals.

Best level from a game? That'd be the last stage in Sonic Adventure 2, which continues to kick my ass.

Taking your first Pokémon from your local professor in your very first Pokémon game.

Yellow, in my case. ^^

level: Air Cover (Conflict: Desert Storm II- Back to Baghdad), the level before you fight Eggman the final time in Sonic Heroes.

event/scene: Where Luke is jumping around like a total moron in one of the cutscenes of Lego Star Wars II, Flanoir scene with Kratos (Tales of Symphonia), First Reunion with Chester (Tales of Phantasia), After the level, "Communications Breakdown" in Conflict: Desert Storm II- Back to Baghdad, playing as the British SAS where your team gets captured (and where Sergant Bradley almost says the F word), After Sauria (Star Fox Assault)

boss battle: Abyssion (Tales of Symphonia), Twilit Fossil: Big Stallord (Twilight Princess), All Ganondorf Phases (Twilight Pricess)

ending: Tales of Symphonia, Team Chaotix ending (Sonic Heroes), Twilight Princess (Waaaaaah Midna's gone!)
