Discuss what is unarguably one of the most controversial (and entertaining) cartoons here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boondocks_(TV_series)

The Boondocks is basically a satire of American culture and it follows the lives of the Freeman family: 10-year-old Huey, his 8-year-old brother Riley, and their grandfather Robert. It airs on Adult Swim, and it's currently on its third (and sadly, supposedly final) season.

No racist remarks, or you'll be reported.

To be honest, before I started watching it, I thought I wouldn't like it. My opinion changed for the better after giving it a try.

Its horrendously unapologetic, and the utterly crude dialogue makes it easy to be turned off by all the swearing and threats. However, its indeed one of the best shows on Adult Swim and while the characters are pretty over the top, you can still feel for them as they deal with the world screwing them over many, many times.

In other words, Huey is always ignored and that makes it hilarious.

I think it's funny, but yeah if you don't have a laid back mindset about this kind of stuff it's probably gonna press your buttons.

This latest season has been great.

I honestly wondered where I was when this first started airing. Sure I am the exact opposite as Huey, but that is what makes it funny. He isn't pushing his views as much as Brian from Family Guy does. And he has been proven wrong quite a few times. And besides, how could you hate a 10 year old kid who thinks he knows more than he actually does?

There is a bit too much N-word though.

Though i agree with you, the creator said he did that purposely, on accounts to not baby the audience with real life situations. I do like the episode where Riley tried to sue hid teacher over the n word being used.

I read that and understand it. I guess in real life they use it too much.

Is season 3 that much better than 1+2? I bought season 1, and am going to get season 2. Is it worth staying up late to watch 3, instead of just waiting for the box set?

For some reason, this reminds me of Afro Samurai.

Season 3 kinda dropped the social-commentary. But it became hilarious in other ways.

I love the show for just about everything. I just got the first season, and have started reading some of the cartoon strip.

Season three isn't my favorite season, but it is stiill hilarious.

Well, season 3 has only four episodes left. I think they'd all be worth staying up for (especially considering 11:30's not too late, at least during summer), but since you've missed so much of the season already, it might just be better to wait for the box set.

I think remember hearing that Afro Samurai was one of Aaron McGruder's inspirations for the series. I could be wrong though.

Might as well stay up then, what days?

Someone mentioned Cowboy Bepob, but after seeing 2 seconds of the OP, Afro Samurai comes more to mind.

Kinda barely started watching it but it's pretty funny. Want to buy seasons 1 & 2 whenever I have the money but I thought there'd be more seasons instead of it being in its third.

Yeah, why in 5 years has it only been 3 seasons?

I hope it doesn't end, it has comedy I haven't seen since Chappelle's Show and the like. And it makes a good filler while waiting for South Park.

I saw the DVD once. Wanted to watch but totally forgot about it. I've heard of the series, though I haven't watched it yet. I am probably going to start watching.

I love the jokes Riley makes! XD

And Grandad's voice actor couldn't be more perfect! Yay John Witherspoon! XD

It got a lot of critisism,(sp?) and was forced to stop making episodes for awhile. I'll find where that was that I got the information.

That doesn't sound right. It sure did receive a lot of controversy, but I never heard about them being forced to stop producing episodes.

Anyway, anyone saw the new episode last night? It was definitely one of my favorite episodes of this season.

From what I can tell, that never stopped South Park from making episodes, why would it Boondocks.

Sorry for mentioning something outside, a comparison is all I was doing
