It's great that 2 trainers of the 1996 games are BACK!!!

Red is STILL silent, though.
Tell me about how you feel about them.

I think they are only at the battle tree. Not sure if battle tree allows mega evolution and Z-moves. They could use both.

Red's eyebrows are hilarious. Too bad they didn't bring Leaf with them. They used the FR/LG designs for the boys, so no reason to have ignored the girl.

I could care less Red's in the games. He's not my trainer. He's a really boring and flat character- especially since they don't even give him a voice. When we're not playing a character it really shouldn't matter if they give them a personality. Because, like I said, he's not everyone's trainer and therefore has no headcanon for everyone as to how he should be acting.

THAT DESIGN FOR LEAF LOOKS AMAZING THOUGH MY GOD. Except for the heels. Can you imagine walking in heels on the beach?! They'd sink right in! lol

Never played the 1996 games and was never able to finish FireRed either sooo... couldn't care less really :p

Now if Leaf returned, then we'd be talking.

I beat LeafGreen while doing a nuzlocke. xD It's going to take nuzlockes to get me to beat the games I haven't beat yet. ...And I'll have to trade my favorite pokemon from X to my friend to trade to ORAS before I reset that to Nuzlocke it if I ever get through Platinum, Black, and White 2.

Leaf is probably my favorite female design since she looks like how I would probably dress in the Pokemon world, with the same straight brown hair as me~. She's followed by Moon (since apparently Male lead is Sun), Serena, and then Kris. I would die of happiness if Gamefreak would acknowledge her at all.

My brother said that Red gets more attention because he came first in Red and Blue... >o> But this is not R/G/B/Y Red.. this is FR/LG Red. So :p to him! Leaf should be here!

To be fair, Red is probably in SM as "that final boss that you beat in GSC/HGSS at Mt. Silver". Not as "the PC you played as in RGBY/FRLG".

So, that´s the reason Leaf isn´t in the game, probably... She didn´t even exist in GSC, and she wasn´t included in HGSS (she should´ve been, though).

I had a very fan-ish squeal-ey moment when they were revealed. I surprised myself with that - I don't actually have much of a personal connection with the Gen I games. They were my first, but as a kid, I got too frustrated with them and gave up without even reaching the League. After that point, I mostly stuck to the anime, until Gold and Silver came out and I fell in love with those (although I don't think I ever actually made it to Mt. Silver).

Anyway, my point is that I'd never thought they would actually show Red and Blue as adults. Given past precedent, with the PWT, they could have gotten away with a cut-and-paste job, but I really appreciate them going a bit further with it, and the two of them look great.

The problem with adding in Leaf at this point (however amazing the design in SirOni's post looks) is that by establishing Red as the official protagonist of the Kanto story, Leaf just doesn't really... exist. As far as we know, she has not only done absolutely nothing, but there's not even anything for her to do. Red defeated Team Rocket, Red became the Champion, Red (presumably) completed the Pokédex... and Kanto just doesn't have much more beyond that.

Mind you, I like Leaf. Both of the times that I have played FRLG, I have chosen her over Red. But realistically, she (somewhat like Kris) is caught in an unfortunate narrative fissure due to certain questionable decisions made for HGSS.

My objection is that they still have Red being silent. In my opinion, it would be a lot more interesting to start treating him as an actual character with dialogue, which they may as well do, since our personal Kanto playthroughs are either partially or wholly invalidated by his canonicity.

As for the poll question, I don't think that they will use Mega Evolutions or Z-Moves.

I rolled my eyes and muttered: "And the Gen 1 shilling marches on..."

And if that recent Train On trailer was hinting at what I feared it is then that circle...

That said, they should have thrown Leaf in.

Red's and Rival's designs are pretty great; though I do hope we'll get to see other champions in the game.

For someone braves the rumours thread regularly, this wasn't such a big surprise. :/

For the poll question, I think that they'll use Z-Moves and Megas. Megas are post game and the Battle Tree is also post game. So it's a logical connection to make.
