The countdown to Giovanni's new voice begins

Well, with the end of Battle Frontier we've heard the new voices to almost every major character to grace the Pokemon anime. We've heard all of the main cast, (Ash, May, Max, Brock, Misty and Tracey), as well as the secondary characters (Delia, Oak, Caroline, Gary, Drew, Harley), and the rockets, (Jessie, James, Meowth, Butch and Cassidy).

The only characters we haven't heard yet is Giovanni...and the Magikarp salesman.

Giovanni appears in D/P2 I believe, so it'll be our first time hearing his new voice. How do you think he'll be handled? Will Zoppi take up yet another role?
 
If Gio is played by Zoppi, I may have to slaughter something.

Whoever it is, he had BETTER still have Lewis' diction. And they'd better have watched Mewtwo Returns a couple times to get a feel for the character (and not just relied on his appearences in Meowth's daydreams, because those are sick and twisted) (Yes, I know that Giovanni *is* sick and twisted, but a different *kind*)

Yes, I totally agree with you! Like we said before, they might go for an Italian mob like voice.. Here's to hoping SOVA succeeds. ::Sigh::

Ah, so true... Lewis just has an incredibly unique way of speaking - I don't think it can be done with a sound-alike. I mean look at Tracey! Like you said, they had to go with a new route for him.. It definitely won't fit Giovanni to have a mob voice.. Personally, I think it would hurt his character..
 
The way NewBrock sounds, I can imagine his voice actor easily carrying across a convincing Giovanni.
 
I wouldn't mind him doing Giovanni.

He's done great work as Brock, Drew, Tucker and Scott, so he could probably do a good Giovanni.
 
Yep, he talked about how he did Tucker on SPP a few months ago.

I thought everyone knew he did Scott too, but I guess not. He's really talented, he and Michelle Knotz are the two best PUSA has so far.
 
Speaking of Scott, am I the only one who hopes he comes back? That dude had class.
 
Maybe we'll see him if the third version of D/P has another Battle Frontier. :p
 
Actually...

One of my friends can do a spot-on recreation of it.

And she's a GIRL. It's really creepy, too. Just like it should be.

If PUSA screws this one up, there's gonna be a LOT of pissed Team Rocket fans out there. Granted, we only see him once a year,but a lot of us look forward to it. (I joked to Lisa once it's like a holiday to us- "Giovanni's gonna be on today's episode! Jubilations!")
 
Yeah, but I doubt it'll be anything special.

They'd better not fuck up his voice. = (
 
So, what shall we refer to this phenomenon as?

I propose Giovannew. It's not as clunky as "New Giovanni" and in case this does end up being a train wreck, it's got the nice connotation of "ew" at the end.
