So what do you find to be the creepiest locations in video games, for one reason or another?

For me:

Mario Games:

Ghost Houses(New Super Mario Brothers): Those things are just...WEIRD...they give you the feeling something is stalking you from a distance...

The Underwhere(ESPECIALLY the River Twygz Bed)(Super Paper Mario): Literally. LITERALLY. That was video game hell. I mean, they send you there when your game ends...it's literally video game hell!!!!! And the River Twygz Bed's music....*huddles into ball in corner*

Zelda Games:

Shadow Temple(Ocarina Of Time): Alright. Really. The name is enough right there. Bottom Of The Well was almost as bad, but Shadow Temple REALLY got me. Hands falling from the ceiling...skulls EVERYWHERE...creepy messages on the walls...dried blood....GAWD....

Sealed Hyrule Castle(Wind Waker): The music was bad enough, but all the frozen enemies everywhere made you feel like any second they'd come back and just attack the crap out of you...I kept thinking the whole time I was playing that level that there would be a twist really quickly...

Cave Of Ordeals(Hidden Area, Twilight Princess): The music is too quiet and creepy, the rooms are VERY dark and you don't know where the enemies will come from, every time you clear a room, creepy stairs open that send you even FURTHER into the place...

Ikana Valley(Majora's Mask): I....I really don't know what to say here. It was basically EVERYTHING. The music, Tatl sensing a thirst for blood looming around the area, the Gibdos zombie things walking everywhere...and then there's the random music box house in the middle...

Pokemon Games:

Turnback Cave(D/P): AGAIN, EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I had nightmares about this place, and running into Giratina suddenly scared the crap out of me! Not to mention, using Max Repel makes it REALLY creepy!

Old Chateau(D/P/P): ...........Doesn't everyone find this creepy?

Lavender Town's Tower(forgot the name)(FR/LG): That place is creepy enough with the music and the theme...not to mention without the Silph Scope the first time the ghosts are just...o.0....and then there's the possessed people everywhere that just come and say random crap to your face...

Misc. Games:

Everywhere In Fatal Frame Games: .....that's enough info right there.

Giygas's Lair(Earthbound): ....really, it has the word Giygas in it. That's bad enough...

The Shadow Temple was EPIC. I especially liked that torture chamber with the dried blood you were talking about.

Anyway, for me it's the Haunted Wasteland in OoT. I mean, it's a phantom haunted desert that overwhelms you with mirages and nightmares from your past. I always go talk to the Bombchu dude just to be reassured....

Old Cheateau scared the cheateau out of me when I first saw the butler ghost. Let alone the little girl ghost (whom mind you, both FLOAT) and the antidote in the trash can, and the haunted painting.

Zelda (Twilight Princess)- Twilight Realm for the creepy music, scenery, and the ghostly cries of the inhabitants. >.<

Zelda (Twilight Princess)- Hyrule Castle at the top before the final battle, because looking around it's freaking scary. D=

Pokemon (D/P/PT)- Old Chateau for the ghosts. o.o

Not so much anymore, but when I was younger the water level in Mario 64 (booty bay?) freaked me out since I had a fear of deep water at the time and when I swam down and saw the eel it scared the shit out of me. So I was always a littel hesitant to play that level. xD

The music in Lavender town scared me when I first played through Blue, and F.E.A.R. got me good on a couple levels too.

Edit:mad:Mitch, Silent Hill is indeed scary.

The entire USS Ishimura.

The Waste Processing Plant of Quake 4.

On the topic of Silent Hill, all the fucking hospitals. I especially hated the part in Silent Hill 2 where James sees Pyramid Head for the first time.

OOT-Shadow Temple. The music was pretty much the scary part and so was the boss (it was like some floating body with hands not attached to it's arms and one big eye for the head)

WW-Earth Temple. Those Redeads, in my opinion, were much scarier than the ones from OOT and TP. I mean, you'd think the weren't much of a scary threat, until you walk close to them.

PKMN D/P-Old Chateau. Yeah, a random ghost roaming to the other side of a room, creepy.

Half Life 2: Episode One/Two gave me quite a few scares... Ha, here's something funny:

Ok, Ravenholm in Half Life 2 didn't scare me that much. Occasionally I'd get a nauseous feeling if I got stuck in a room with a large amount of zombies, but nothing SCARED me.

In Half Life 2, Episode One... at some point you're climbing around in air ducts, and I found a stash of health packs down one alley. As I crawled over to it, the floor collapses and I fall down into the room below.

Guess which one I screamed to. Who remembers that, those that have played that game!?

There are more games, but this happened recently, so that came to mind first.

everywhere in either Silent Hill/Resident Evil(before 5) Creeped me out lol...

Jolly Roger bay? I was a bit uneasy in that level too but I was afraid of SOMETHING in at least half of the games I've owned

I never liked any place in the Zelda games where those guays/crows were. I hated when they were coming right at you and I was always afraid of them even though they give out little damage.

I had (and still have) a deep water fear. This showed in - Jabu Jabu's lake (damn that lake was DEEP), Lake Hylia, Banjo Kazooie's Clanker's Cavern, the watery parts of Grunty's Lair like outside Rusty Bucket Bay, Mario 64 - Dire Dire Docks and Jolly Roger Bay.
I also was scared of the ghost level in Mario 64 but that was justified. That piano traumatized me as a little kid and whenever I have to go in there, I turn the volume down.e

I actually got so scared trying to unlock the Halloween level in Grunty's lair that I turned off the game system.

I'm glad the water in WindWaker was opaque though. It was nice not seeing what was below me.

As for the creepiest place. I'd say that it'd be Hyrule field at night in Twilight Princess. That field was just too big!

And I'm pretty sure the moon in Majora's mask has scared many people, especially when it seemed bigger than usual. For some reason, maybe due to altitude even on day 1, in Woodfall, the moon just seemed bigger. Didn't help that his face was directly facing you.

This showed in - Jabu Jabu's lake (damn that lake was DEEP)

Actually, I am quite surprised nobody mentioned the mission of saving Ruto. Going inside of something where there were parasites living in there … and that boss thing … eurgh, that was worse than the Shadow Temple or the destroyed Hyrule in the future.

The area where you fight 02 in Kirby 64, think about it, pure red, with black barcodes flying around, and the giant fucking eyeball thing you're fighting.

OH MY GAWD NOT RIPPLE STAR CATACOMBS THE MUSIC IS BAD ENOUGH

Rex's Lair on Shadow Moses Island in MGS is really fucking creepy, with the giant robot as well as the music.

The whole damn place in MGS4 espically with the flashbacks.

pretty much anywhere i have to evade or run away from something, especially that fortress place in windwaker with the guards. playing tag with enemies always makes me nervous :(

also jumping on the old chateau bandwagon. i wasn't too afraid of it the first time i went in there, but the second time i got a serious case of the jibblies.

Acherus: The Ebon Hold

All of Icecrown NOT involving the Argent Tournament

The courtyard of Shadowfang Keep
